Ken strats go here!
few questions: how do you juice kick properly?
- at what time do you start to attempt a reversal shoryuken? (with piano drumming)
what is kens fierce dp juggle ive been hearing about?
I juice kick the direct way and it works well for me.
By that I mean that I just hit uf then qcb+HK
I just noticed that you can hit confirm kens close cr.strong into super.
Pretty good but only works very close or by cross up. btw im having the hardest time doing his jump jab into hk
Jump Jab xx Hurricane, is easiest to do by doing QCB, then at down-back jab, and then at back the RH. Almost like Kara throw timing in 3S if you play that game.
I’ve noticed that Ken’s Cross-up MK, cr.LK xx HK Funky Kick doesn’t work anymore. However cr.MK xx HK Funky Kick does.
Combo into Super is the same as ST, cr lk, c.lk, QCF x2 + LP + LK.
I have problems with the Juice Kick too, I actually find it harder to do than in ST! Weird.
Is it me, or does jab SRK own anything without a fireball…?
Literally…I just played a match where all the guy did was spam jab SRK (I was Honda, another player was Fei Long). All we could do was sweep him out of the pattern, and it was a stupid short timeframe to do so. The priority and near-safeness of it is just…wtf??? o_O
So…is it just me?
ken’s always had really safe(sometimes stupidly safe)/high priority shoryukens
^^^what this guy said
I guess the part about them being sweepable is why they were never changed… shrug
Dunno…I’m still new to ST in general, so it could just be a whole different reason.
any other ways to combo ken’s super besides short, short?
Only way I’ve gotten this to work is near the corner, opponent about where you’d stand at fireball trap distance, hit 'em with a fierce shoryuken at the apex of their jump and they will “catch” in the corner giving you just enough time to connect another fierce shoryuken as soon as you land. If you’ve got super you can also hit with it.
The most I’ve seen the double srk hit for is around 20-25%, the super… maybe around 50-60%, that’s including the first SRK.
Like Person7 said, close c.strong can combo into shoryureppa
So I jump toward, do a quarter circle from down to back, then down-back jab, then move the stick to the back/away position and then hit RH kick for the hurricane kick?
Sorry. I had to ask. i am having a hard time pulling this many commands in such a small window. With practice maybe it will come.
Cammy can cannon drill spam jab SRK. Balrog should be able to beat it out with his jab headbutt but I’d have to test that.
Yeah Fei and Honda might have problems but Honda should be able to Hand Slap after blocking Ken and at least create some space.
I like meaty close standing lk -> cr.lk -> super on wakeup; otherwise cr.lk -> cr.lp -> super. I just find these easier to do than cr.lk -> cr.lk -> super. Plus, you can substitute srk for super. You can also link cr.mp or cr.lk or standing lk directly into super if you’re close enough.
I have a little trouble with chun li though, what should i use to hit her out of her kicks?
Also, what are his best normals? I’ve been using c.mp and c.mk obviously, does he have any other good normals?
wait you can do do c.lk c.lp super?
does this remove the ‘renda-cancelling’ ?
That’s right; the motion is cr.lk qcf cr.lp qcf punch. Unlike cr.lk x2, using lp is a link not a chain so it’s a little tougher to connect these two, but this way you don’t have to kara cancel or do the motions so quickly.
You can super after a jumping fierce for a combo as well… You might not be in the situation to do that too many times, but it comes in handy to know.
You should learn the timing for c.lkx2 renda cancel super though. It will come up more often in a match.
It is hard as hell though. I can’t pull it off consistantly.
You must be talking about the range since they start with the same move. But if you’re far enough away that lp whiffs on cr.lk -> cr.lp, I’d be afraid to go for cr.lk x2 -> super anyway since the super could whiff after that. So for that particular range, you’d likely have 1 of the following
cr.lk (hits) cr.lp (whiffs) -> nothing
cr.lk (hits) cr.lk (hits) -> super (whiffs)
I’d take the first one.
