The LS-32 and LS-40 use the same mounting plates, and should both fit into the TE with no problems.
I’d like to try the LS-40, but I think it may be TOO stiff for my liking. Also, the plastic looking gate reminds me of my Hori FS3(Which I threw to the ground in anger because of how shitty the stick is, and what made me search for and find a TE THAT SAME DAY)
I’m not going to back to that madness. I think I’ll just grab a LS-32-01 and maybe find someone with an LS-40 that wouldn’t mind letting me give it a whirl in a few matches.
I’ve been using the Suzo Universal STC (Groovy Game Gear’s Omni Stick Classic) for a few years now in my stick at home, which happens to be more common in Europe in most Shumps games. The short throw on it is very different from the Happ/Wico Parts I’ve seen from yesteryear, but elevated my game significantly. It also has a square restricter to get the diagnals down good, and pulling SPD’s is great. Some find the diagnols easy to hit, but with proper practice once can overcome it.
I enjoy the stick, but it’s just my own personal preference. I’m yet to try a Seimetsu, which I’m keeping my eyes out for one.
Both the LS-32 and LS-40 use the same spring.
Oh wow I didn’t know that. So if they use the same spring, whats the difference? Does the LS-40 have a shorter engage than the LS-32?
The LS-40 has a shorter engage and a little bit of a shorter throw, a smoother pivot, and comes stock with a white, plastic square gate.
Do you have the two to compare? The only thing putting me off the LS-40 over the LS-32 is the plastic look of the gate on the LS-40. It looks VERY similar to the one on my old Hori Fight Stick 3, and I hate that gate with a passion. Is there anyway I can fit the gate if the JLF to it? Or does it not feel like the Hori gate to begin with?(if you’ve used the FS3 before.)
link to compare is in this thread
I prefer the LS-40 over the LS-32 but the 32 is awesome as well. They are like twin brothers that have gone their separate ways.
If you do not manhandle sticks, try the LS-33 with a stiffer spring from the 56(I think?). Just my 2 cents.
According to Slagcoin the LS-33 has a really light spring, even lighter than the JLF and / or the LS-56.
LS56 spring work bad on LS33 and LS55 - generates crunching
for LS33 best use LS55 or little stretched JLF/hori
Indeed the spring it comes with is very light. I don’t mind it so much but I think it is a lot better with a swapped out spring. I recommended a spring from a 56 however…
I didn’t notice any crunching at the time but perhaps with more play it would have become more obvious. I will try a 55 spring next time.
ls-40-01 ftw! prefer it better than the ls-32-01
lol, I ordered a ls-40 thanks to this thread, it should come any time soon now, Even though this is my first stick, I’ve tried the jlf before and it just didn’t feel right…
…now that I remember their used to be a KoF97 arcade cabinet at my local video rental store when I was a kid, and I remember it had a ball top joystick and I remember how different and quick it used to feel. Does anyone know what type of joystick it could have been a jlf or ls32/40
Just thought I’d revive the thread since my question has something to do with sticks with short throw.
Alright, so I’ve been using someone’s HRAP for the PS2. You know that certain fighting games require stick movements of u/f, f, or u/f, u/f, right?
For example, instant air dashing for GG, Hokuto no ken and Darkstalkers and such.
One night, I’ve been trying to pull this off while playing Vampire savior and I could only get the instant air dash like less than 20% of the time. This confused me, since simple commands such as u/f, u/f, or u/f, f should be easy to do, right?
With a little practice, I found out that the reason why doing these simple things are so hard was because while I’m trying to hit the diagonal corners of the stick, the game is actually picking up other directions during the midst of this.
For example, when I want to do u/f, the stick sometimes goes through u, then f, first, before I actually hit the u/f.
Not only that, but when I release the stick from u/f and let it go to neutral, the stick ends up hitting other directions before it actually makes it to neutral without me even moving it in any way. Hell, doing instant air dashes and such are 100x easier for me on PS2 pad and analog stick than an Arcade stick.
I’m thinking that this is the reason why I cant get any consistent air dashes. It’s because the stick is going through u, and f, and not hitting u/f like I wanted. And when I let go of u/f, its going through other directions instead of going back to netrual cleanly.
This is what brings me to the whole “Throw” thing. I’ve read that sticks with smaller throw helps you hit the diagonals no problem, without having the stick hit any of the other 4 corners first.
So my question is, for anyone who has any experiences with sticks with different throws, will small throws really help with hitting consitent diagonals like I mentioned above?
gootecks would use a long throw joystick
Laugh.
He didn’t really throw the Arcade Stick right?
he didn’t but i’m high and just about anything is funny.
So, today 2015, which stick has the shortest throw, I need for GGXrd and KOF
