Oh I know what you mean. That only happens if you put excessive force on it. I don’t know about the rest of the people on SRK who use sticks but I don’t manhandle them.
neither would I, however you could…
not that hard to fathom really and not the most difficult mod ever either…the JLJ is most likely the stick with the shortest throw money can currently buy.
That being said, your cash, your choice (the stick itself ain’t that cheap either so I wouldn’t blame you if you picked a LS-something instead). Cheers.
Manhandling= Happ/ iL parts. Those suckers will take a beating.
Yup. I think most arcades prefer those cause they have to change them out less…
Chinatown? hint hint*
Ever since I’ve seen those sfiv machines, the indian dude must be flipping his mind out from the broken jlf’s. That’s prolly why the game is a dollar a piece.
there are videos on youtube of someone running through the different models and the suzo looks like it has very throws
Actually it’s still $1 cause they know people are going to put money in it anyway
I think the only cab that has a seimitsu stick is the Melty Blood one, and that shit feels too loose to be an LS-32. Unless it was beaten and raped by all the hardcore loli fans :shake:
I’m really digging the LS-56 after previously owning a 32. I don’t feel the gate on it when I do a 360 like I did on either a 32 or JLF. I wish I had the entire series of Seimitsu sticks to compare them. I read that the 33 is also great with a 56 spring and octo gate. I need a 40 as well after reading this thread.
lol…I wonder why. Nice av.
Until recently, I’ve used the Nubytech SFAC with stock parts. QCF-HCB was easy on even that. I’d go with the iL Euro.
After reading this thread i can’t choose between LS-32 and LS-40.
Slagcoin says that they are pretty similar and the two main differences the LS-40 has is the even shorter engage distance and it does not have the pivot problem LS-32 has. Then again i am afraid if the LS-40 engage distances are an overkill for SF.
Either way, although i never used Seimitsu joysticks i think that i will find the LS-32 / LS -40 better than the JLF. I just don’t like the engage/throw distances of the JLF, they are really far for me.
I’m in the exact same boat as you. My JLF just feels so loose, and I’ve never tried a Seimitsu product at all, stick or buttons.
However, coming to this thread, I had made up my mind to get an LS-32, until I see the LS-40 getting praise. I have no idea what to do now lol, but I will be going with Seimitsu from now on I’m sure.
coming from Happ myself, and never using Sanwa up unti labout 3-4 weeks ago when I completed my first Sanwa project, I too felt the Sanwa was too loose.
I have since put in 2 additional springs (kept the stock in there too, so 3 springs total) and I must say, the sanwa now feels A LOT better than it previously did. I used the Home Depot springs that there is a thread about on this board.
I highly recommend picking up the spring pack at home depot if you can, it’s like $4, and it made a night and day difference with how I played on my Sanwa stick.
Personally, I don’t see how anyone can say that the LS-32 and LS-40 are similar. The only thing in my opinion that they might have in common is the stiffness since they both use the same spring, if I remember correctly. However, even if that was the case, the LS-40 really doesn’t feel anything like it.
I use the LS-40 to play 3S and the engage distances are perfect for it. Minimal effort is required for specials/supers to come out and it’s amazing for motion characters. The LS-32 was a little bit of an oddball to me; smaller movements didn’t provide consistent results and with any larger movements, I’d find myself riding the gate.
If the LS-40 could be compared to any other Seimitsu stick, then I’d say the LS-56 is the closest thing in terms of overall feel. The LS-56 is a lot stiffer, but the engage distances feel about the same. They also come stock with very similar gates.
Strange, I use the LS-32 and I think it’s perfect for 3S. Then again I don’t think I’ve tried the LS-40 so maybe there IS better afterall.
Issei tells me they use Seimitsu sticks during SBO, not Sanwa JLF’s :clapdos:
I’m sure the LS-32 is perfect for most and is a great stick. The deciding factor for me more or less came down to which stick was better suited to my play style.
Also, I think the LS-32 is used on most of the cabs at SBO with the KoF cab being the only exception; it uses a LS-40 if I’m not mistaken.
Thanks for this. I’ll stick to the 56 then because of the stiff spring and the ability to use an octo gate. This thread just about talked me into ordering a 40. I also want to try a 33 with a 56 spring in there. It’s supposed to be nice but the one Aki carried doesn’t use a wiring harness.
I just did the “JLF Ultimate Mod” but without adding any additional spring.
And all i can say is i like the overall feel much better than before however the engage / throw distances now are not equally distributed.
I think that’s to be expected since first it’s a ghetto method and secondly and most important i didn’t put much effort to placing the tape and the postit papers flawlessly.
I just wanted to get the general feel of a joystick with shorter throw and engage distances and hell yeah i like it!
Only problem now it’s i can’t decide between LS-32 and LS-40. Seems that people that tried both they are praising the LS-40 but on the other hand the LS-32 it’s more popular.
I can’t comment on the JLF mod since I haven’t tried it, but I’ve never liked the idea of taking a stick apart only to mod it with all of these different objects like tape, springs, and whatnot when you can just buy a Seimitsu stick that comes stock with a short throw/engage. Sure, it might be cheaper than buying a new stick but it’s not as reliable.
Like I stated earlier, if you like the feel of the JLF but can’t stand how loose it is or how far the engage/throw is, then you really can’t go wrong with the LS-40. Regarding short throws and engages, it goes something like this for me:
LS-40?LS-56 >> LS-32 > JLF
Thanks, i think i will get LS-40 and maybe later i will also get an LS-32 just to try it out of curiosity.
As for the “JLF Ultimate Mod” i already undo it. As i said i only did it just to see how are shorter throw / engage distances feel and not to permanently leave it that way.
Of the seimetsu joysticks, which of them will fit into a Madcatz TE with the least amount of hassle? I’m new to modding and something that will fit with the existing mounting bracket would be best I think. I would like to try out a LS-40 but would settle for the one that required the least amount of work.
