using my mysterious time traveling abilities I was able to go back, raid the clinic, and make a shit ton of coffee. all of which i should have done in the first timeline.
im going to try and grind the final dungeon and try to get everyone’s skills unlocked. probably a bit overkill but if im going through all this trouble again i want that boss to just roll over and die.
If you get the party to Level 75 and pick up the literal one Soma at the final infested area of the dungeon, the Final Boss is a cake walk as long as you sequence your party correctly.
Finished P5 the other day. Fantastic game, and best soundtrack of the year to date. Last Surprise is the catchiest shit ever. Never gets old, even 100+ hours later.
EDIT: I forgot about the Reaper, lol. Gotta hunt it down! I hope I have a save file I can go back to. Are there any bonus dungeons?
The reaper is affected by the flu season. Best time to take him on. As for special content
Spoiler
The twins are a secret boss. I don’t know the conditions to battle them though.
Fuck this final palace man.
[details=Spoiler]I just did three straight boss fights. The Yakuza guy was easy enough but the Akechi fights almost drained me of my resources. Even with the SP restoring charms my healers were running on fumes by the third fight.
Since Akechi has the power of the wild card and evil shouldn’t he represent the Jester arcana like Adachi?[/details]
I recently noticed for shadows you haven’t captured will show their personality where their arcana alignment would be. My negotiating would have been much easier if I realized this sooner.
I know man I missed a few too, but I honestly can’t stomach that kid. I guess he’s meant to be insufferable so A+ writing on that.
I got all the way to the treasure and haven’t been able to play cause of work for like a week…so I’m just on the worst damn cliffhanger. Im going to play like 10 hours this coming saturday.
Mishima was the one that really made me sad there were no gay romance options.
aside from that I thought he was a great character that acted more human than the rest. everyone else was pretty much “i have no flaws but this guy is really fucking up my life so go fix him”. in that sense he’s a lot like Junpie who coincidentally also got a ton of hate initially.
Finished the game. Overall enjoyed it. Flaws I have with it is some of the OST…it has some REALLY good tracks, but a lot of it sounds like filler/background music that is only enjoyable in game. Compared to stuff like the school theme, dorm theme in p3 and etc. Still overall good ost, since it fit and was very mood setting. Another minor flaw I have is the social links for party members weren’t all that interesting. Only one I found decent was Ryuji’s but the social link thing is more of a Atlus problem I guess rather than the characters themselves.
But yeah not too many flaws I can find without being nitpicky.
For the good, I did enjoy the cast a lot. There were only 3 characters I didn’t like, 2 of them its just I didn’t care for them much, and the other one I legit don’t like, and I will explain in a spoiler tag. But yeah fun cast, fun atmosphere, I liked the Palaces even though it was weird playing through regular style dungeons in this since I was so used to stuff like Tartarus, TV World, and I guess Mementos. And I found the story to be interesting it wasn’t too suspenseful for me, but I still was like “ahhh ok” whenever some new info came up
Combat was also really good, shit was so intuitive an engaging it didn’t feel turn based, but I think that’s almost a staple for SMT games in general. Enjoyed the hell out of the combat, really made me feel like I was a group of rebels out there stomping shit out.
Now in regard to the character I don’t like…don’t open unless you’ve beaten the 7th dungeon.
Spoiler
Goro is fuckin trash. As soon as he starts being cool with the team I already knew he was gonna be the one to sell us out and etc. Nothing about him was unpredictable except for the fact that he was crazy as hell. But even then its whatever. HIs reason for working for doing what he was doing was stupid as hell. Like yeah the "I was abandoned, and I didn’t have a place, wanted to be known, famous and etc. Is fine, but its the fact that he wasn’t really evil about it. He was just doing a bunch of shit to get back at Shido and him having the desire for fame and revenge for Shido didn’t seem like 2 ideas that meshed well together. So he just came off very bratty, again which would’ve been fine if handled better or etc. HIs motivations aren’t anything new but they just came off so wack. Another issue with him is I feel the game doesn’t build him up. I wanted him to have a wits contest with the MC in the real world, and MAYBE function as a combat rival throughout the game in the metaverse. Especially since the game reveals hes like the Anti-Joker or whatever, those two being opposites but having similar powers but it not being hyped or etc until very last second felt like a wasted opportunity. And its crazy because this dude already has fanboys and what not, and I’m like man he is trash. I can’t remember the last I’ve disliked a game character off how they developed or what not. But yeah end rant
Overall game is great though, first rpg I’ve played where I was thinking of doing a NG+ I almost never replay rpgs let alone even think of replaying one before I even beat it.
[details=Spoiler] yeah Goro was a terrible villian that i couldn’t sympathize with at all. he claims to be sad because he’s alone but the only reason he’s alone is because he was being a little bitch. he was famous, handsome, smart, etc… there was absolutely nothing preventing him from making friends but him.
on the plus side i was really impressed that they figured him out. that whole pancake thing was great though i can imagine how much it would drive someone nuts if they noticed it earlier. [/details]
I’m at the end of the 6th palace and even though I haven’t technically finished the game I guess I’m like 85% of the way there and for me there’s no disputing that this gave struck a chord with me. Absolutely loved almost all of it. There’s thing’s to nitpick but I’m with DrellyFish. I don’t have a point of comparison with this being the only persona game i’ve played but damn, this is the shit,
