{ ShellExecute ('Iron_Avenger.exe') } //UMvC3 Iron Man combo thread

Krispy Kreme is the standard and best bnb. You should also have an air to air combo, there are lots of variants to choose from.

Iron Man cannot combo off a midscreen ground throw. He can only combo off a throw in the corner (in which case you can link c.L after a throw for better scaling), or close enough to the corner where you can dash in and do L Smart Bombs, c.M, s.H S etc.

Off any height air throw, ADDF towards the opponent and do L Smart Bombs, c.M, s.H S whatever. If you see that the opponent is too far away to connect after L SB, dash in after L SB and connect c.M, s.H similar to the way you do the midscreen Repulsor combo after you hit them with L SB. You can also do air Smart Bombs L and do ADF j.uH or something after a normal jump height throw but I think the other combo is more consistent and less height dependent since it works from both normal and super jump height.

Corner combo variants and corner throw where I can link c.L I just do the KK because I run Iron Man anchor without assist extensions because Iā€™m stupid. If you want something more damaging, for both corner combos and corner throw combos, check Duck Strongā€™s YouTube channel. Iron Man struggles to break the 800k damage barrier by himself, but its really easy to work assist extensions into his combos. Getting big damage with Iron Man involves using assist extensions to do as many Repulsor Blast loops as possible before you have to Spread and do H Smart Bombs into a Hyper.

For TACs, there is really no reason to not learn his infinites because they are so good, but in the mean time if you want something a bit more standard Danke came up with some good stuff that just involves juggling the opponent on top of a Repulsor Blast, cancelling into Spread and either doing Proton Cannon or Iron Avenger.

Last but not least the Repulsor Blast xx Spread combo, let RB hit four times, spread, dash and do L Smart Bombs as late as possible, dash again and do c.M, s.H, S, air series, spike, OTG H Smart Bombs whatever. Decent damage and if you play Iron Man with assists you may be able to do something better here, but that simple combo is universal against the whole cast off any strength RB and any height as long as you let RB hit the correct amount of times*.

*I think, if Iā€™m wrong someone please correct me.

I also run Iron Man Anchor, I guess that makes us both morons. Therefore I am mostly just looking for combos he can do by himself and with XF3. Iā€™ll look into the throw combos and work on those and I have the Krispy Kreme pretty much down as well.

If you run him anchor then when you do the KK you can loop the jump loop 3 times at the end to do 1.32 million damage for 0 bar before HSD kicks in and stops the combo. Off any sort of hit this is your best option for killing people fast and getting the valuable meter you need to kill the other characters off a Unibeam or Repulsor Blast later. If you are ever in a situation where you donā€™t know if XF3 is gonna run out and HSD is getting wonky, end the combo after two jump loops with s.M xx Proton Cannon so they donā€™t flip out.

In XF3, c.M, s.H xx L Unibeam xx Iron Avenger will flat out kill most characters and if it doesnā€™t, double dash up and do L Smart Bombs, c.M, S, air series, Spike, H Smart Bombs xx Proton Cannon and that will. c.M, s.H xx L Unibeam xx Iron Avenger (or Proton Cannon) actually has more range than the KK and gives Iron Man a longer range hit confirm, which is much better with the XF3 damage boost. Its both depressing and a necessity to be able to gauge the range where the KK wonā€™t work but Unibeam into Proton Cannon will.

Heā€™s got some stuff going for him in anchor position, the problem is really what characters you need to make a comeback against and if they can completely shut down his gameplan or not.

The last thing Iā€™d add is the H Smart Bombs into Proton Cannon is a super generous link, enough where you have plenty of time to gauge whether or not the H Smart Bombs will kill them or not before spending meter, H Smart Bombs does a ton of damage and sometimes you donā€™t need to use Proton Cannon at all. On the flip side, if youā€™re ending with H Smart Bombs into Iron Avenger at the end of a bnb or longer combo, you need to do the cancel as fast as possible, almost the second the bombs come out. Its really weird but something thatā€™s important to get the hang of.

Out of curiosity what team do you use?

Firebrand, Frank West, Iron Man. I have some Misc Tech stuff posted on my Youtube Channel: www.youtube.com/user/TheCape that has some of the cool stuff this team can do. I just need to continue to learn Iron Man to better develop the team.

I know that Firebrand has a true unblockable using Repulsor assist, Blackstar uses it.

I found the incoming one and a few reset setups into it with the Repulsor Assist so far. Its also great for leveling Frank up. I think the unblockables are all in my tech videos.

Another thing you can do to make the link to Iron Avenger easier is to make sure youā€™re a little bit further away from the corpse before inputting the bombs. That way, you can cancel into Avenger before the bombs actually make contact so they will never pop out of the combo.

I actually find it pretty hard to combo from H bombs into Proton Cannon after longer combos. You really do have to be spot on with your cancel; it seems like it has to be done absolutely frame perfect or they pop out.

Yeah missing the H Smart Bombs xx Iron Avenger cancel and flying harmlessly under your opponent after actually landing a hit with him and doing your bnb/air to air combo is akin to your neighbor telling you they ran over you dog.

The other cool thing about Iron Avenger is that with the KK combo off a j.H or j.S opening ended with IA its impossible to get it to a million, but if you absolutely mash the fuck out of the buttons and maximize the damage as much as possible when you do the mario kart double dash H Smart Bombs followup afterwards, youā€™ll hit exactly one million damage. Iron Man is a cool guy.

Yes.

anybody have something better than this combo tac(just wondering because even though itā€™s easy as shit i want to know if thereā€™s a more efficient version of this tac)?

Not sure why youā€™re using :l: smart bombs. Using :m: smart bombs (you can even use :h: bombs with the right spacing, but itā€™s tight) will boost your damage a lot more. And you can skip the part at the very end with the back and forth airdashes for more bombs. Sticking in as many bombs as possible does far more damage.

Really though, just learn his infinite.

Just learn the infinite

and itā€™s just as easy off up or side, and iā€™ve landed it midscreen offstream in tournaments, this shit is not only easy but makes this character a lot more worth it(still not nearly worth it).

@duck: i didnā€™t even know you could use :m: smart bombs actually.

i hate asking this butā€¦what advantages does his infinite have over that other than meter gain, swag, and clock drain?

Do you guys feel like the infinite building as much meter as it does for the opponent is an issue at all?

Always killing, and what you said is a pretty big deal.

Not really, in that match I taunted him and got hit so it became a problem, but in all having that much meter and the incoming mixup is a big enough advantage for me that itā€™s worth it, I only really do it when itā€™s the only thing that will kill unless Iā€™m just trying to show off anyway.

alright then cause i have sentinels up and down infinites to muscle memory and iā€™m working on magnetoā€™s too but i wanted another character that can do everything everyone else is doing on the team while being beneficial to me. except for sentinelā€™s infinite cause that shit looks retarded lol

Yeah but you pretty much had to taunt after that man.

Iā€™ll also add that the most appealing thing about Iron Manā€™s infinite is he doesnā€™t have to land the hit to do it. I can get it off Deadpoolā€™s overhead!

Keep thinking of what teams to pair since I havenā€™t really gotten much into Marvel and think Iā€™m either going with Spencer/Iron Man/Sentinel or Wolverine/Iron Man/Nova. Unibeam gives a lil extra damage to both combos and Nova has a wall bounce for an easy repulsor xx burst > Hyper

I like spencer/ironman, but donā€™t pick sentinel. Pick one of the broken anchors.

Paging Duck Strong. Awhile ago you said you had come up with an Iron Man solo corner combo that does over 900k. To my knowledge though you never shared it. Do you have the notation/ a video for it?
