1.vega does not need a gtfo move with invicibility frames.that would make him a broken attempt.it would be like giving sim a gtfo move to completely nullify meaty jumpins.
2.what vega really needs is a boost in his zoning tools and a couple of his normals(better forward dash for eg) which would make him good in the area where he’s supposed to be good at.
We likely have very different ideas of what is a competitive level.
And I didn’t say he would be OP, just a terror. And he would, he is going to scare the shit out of everyone if his option select beating safe 1/3 screen reasonably high priority airborne move links into like 60% instead of like 20%. It wouldn’t break the game, but I doubt they are going to take it to that level. And he is not worse than rufus in every way, they are completely different characters.
It would be roughly the equivalent of ryu’s ex tatsu linking into ultra midscreen. Vega doesn’t have alot of ryu’s other advantages, but you can see how silly that would be I hope.
rufus’s footsies are crap, vega has some of the best footsies in the game.
you guys arent keeping up with the times,

if you look at the above video, vega having the complete advantage in the footsies department clearly shows.
happa being a top 100 bp rufus didnt help matters.
Claw needs buffs just to the point that he’s more fun to play. For me part of the reason to play him is that he isn’t one of the best characters in the game - except he has some amazingly fun tricks and is hugely satisfying to become good with.
in my small community I am THE only Claw Player. I am THE only one capable of comboing the Scarlet Terror and THE only player to Izuna Drop my city’s best Sagat 6 times in a row. And after all that, I might still lose!
im trying to convince people that he doesnt need a aa to be mended.
am i saying vega is balanced and has no issues?nope not at all.
fact is that the kind of problems that vega has,is beyond the scope of understanding for most of the people on this board.
and everytime when someone throws out a vague generalized statement saying “too bad vega sux, rufus has better everything blah blah”,
it literally forces me to go out of context of the whole thread and prove to that particular person that he is wrong.
for one thing i never said that vega is the strongest or one can start to rack up a lot of tourny wins with a bit of practice.
all im saying is that vega is certainly tourney “viable” and most certainly not as broken as sean or sf2 zangief.(for which i provided statistics to prove my point)
not many people realize that capcom came the closest in sf4 with respect to getting vega right.this is probably the first iteration of sf where vega,to my knowledge isnt
banned in the singapore ranbats.
with the normals and the other issues that the other vega players mentioned fixed,im pretty sure he can be used as a balanced hit and run character.
but the people in this thread fail to get the area in which he is supposed to be good at and ask for a dragon punch like st.
which would completely change vega as a character.(not to mention broken.)
It wouldn’t make him broken… and it would change his wake up game ever so slightly. Asking for some more viable invincibility on a move like EX Scarlet Terror is an overall harmless request. The reason it wouldn’t make him broken is that Scarlet Terror requires to charge down-back and it cannot be “Safe-canceled” out of. It’s very different from DP and closer to the likes of Blanka’s EX Up Ball.
I believe all of us Demand a “SSF4 Vega Demo”
And i would just like to say that some of yall act like they haven’t changed anything thing in SSF4 with Vega im just glad that they made “some” changes. :lovin:
I really can’t find myslef having another main then Vega
If He’s sooo horrible in SF4 why do us Vega players still use him? I’ll tell you why…
Cuz we got the ballz/determination and skills to still own with everything he got hiding up his “claw” :smokin:
and i think only people who main Vega can only have that type of feeling to play with a character like Vega no other character can share that with him (Dan is a different feeling thing )
ok im pretty lazy rite now i could go on but i don’t feel like :blah: to yall =) oh yea only “real Vega players know”
dude do you know under what category that vega and dhalsim fall under??
incase you didnt know, its the “very hard to get in,but if in screw them” category.
so giving him an st with invisibility would be like the developers saying “thats right! vega beats you from a ranged distance and if you some how work your ass to get in on him and attempt a
meaty, its useless!he’ll get out of it no prob!figure this one out sherlock!”
even in his current build its very difficult to pin a really good vega down if you dont know the matchup, but the problem is that in higher levels of play, vega’s zoning options are limited and becomes less of a mind game where people dont have to work even half as hard as getting in on a dhalsim.and this is the true problem which needs to be taken under consideration.so if you have a suggestion to increase his zoning and spacing options,by all means please do!
This may be the wrong place to ask this, but I figure since I read the last 10 pages or so of posts that I could post it in here.
How does having a higher wall dive benefit Vega? This is an honest question and It’s not meant to sound snooty. I can maybe see that it’ll be harder to hit him if he wall dives towards an opponents wall, but that’s all I can think of.
