Joz’s post covers pretty much a lot of how I would like some of his normals to be in SSFIV.
It’s more like,
You do it, like any regular walldive, but anytime mid-flight after going off the wall, you can press K instead of P, and you’ll fall right down, with very little recovery.
Enough recovery that you want to be doing it FAR AWAY from folk, but yeah. It’s great as a one-off for baiting DPs/Flashkicks etc.
he has had that hop since the beggining. The problem is the overall game speed or Vega’s speed itself. fix the later and you have near broken move. fix the first one and well you have a faster game where everyone is faster and allows you to escape more, but wont do much if you play an opponent that has fast reactions.

He used to have just one hop. He does a double hop in IV. It takes way to long to recover.
what about making normal UF FBA hit like ex FBA? That’s an opportunity for him to land his Ultra or Super right there. Then allow him to use another EX bar for a stronger Izuna or Claw attack.
As for the Super’s damage make him do 4 Izuna Drops like in Alpha 3.
Although this isn’t too important, I’d like it if EX FBA would hit twice all the time, even if you miss the Izuna.

Making the game speed faster will do nothing to solve the problem. You can see the dive from a mile away and and the opponent has plenty of time to attack and anticipate the move. Point is the recovery time is too long.
Cosmic heel is really really good right now. I don’t know if it needs improvement.
I thought (in addition to being -1/+2), piece of mecury should get off the ground faster. This would allow vega to escape some of his more difficult situations. Maybe make him off the ground by frame 2? Ohhh and make him airborne. That would help alot.
I like the stand RH recovery being reduced. I also think an improvement to the crouch hp hitbox could be useful.
And of course vega’s mediocre combos should be universal.
They should leave Claw’s mask throw.
However, if it hits the opponent, make it have hit/block stun + make it chip the opponent. (AKA Dudley’s taunt in 3s)
I find it hard to believe that everyone thats arguing shit mains Claw or even uses him , like seriously … an Ultra that hits on the way up like the EX FBA ? that sounds broken as fuck , Vega doesnt need a combo’able Ultra , he just needs one thats useful with actual damage
as for the whole Mohammed Ali hop Vega does , that was there in previous games but it was changed a lot
in previous games he only did one hop , it was really fast and it hoped AWAY from the opponent making him far enough to not be punished by jabs , and he didnt do it after empty FBA or fake FBAs
in SF4 , he does 2 hops , takes a very long time , and he hops IN PLACE , which makes it punishable by literally anything
Jozhear’s and Sasaki’s suggestions are pretty much what Vega actually needs , he doesnt need to be TOP tier , just giving him enough options to be tournament Viable is more than enough
i think probably the most important thing you could do for vega is speed him the hell up. make him the fastest character in the game. that would push him more in line with his ST version.
I was under the impression he has the fastest walkspeed and quickest jumps.
He does feel very slow compared to ST, but he’s still the quickest.
+4 on hp RCF would be very interesting as well I think.
I wouldn’t mind the slow startup if it was +4 on hit! Long combos, ensue!
Not that I mind the slow startup right now, I actually like it. Gives Vega at least one decent frame trap.
Yeah I don’t mind Vega’s ultra I just wish it dish out more damage. His df+mk would be great as an overhead and a quicker start up on the crystal roll would be nice too. His claw attacks in general should dish more damage and that lame double hope could be reduced to 1 hope that hopes away. His db,f+k could have little more priority because Vega trapped in a corner is never good when his reversal sucks. Oh and ditch the mask throw. Other than that he’s ok in my book.
would be cool if he has two stances depending on the claw.
when he doesnt have his claw he becomes better at close combat=RCF becomes faster, ST has a bigger hitbox and has a longer damaging combo, downside is that he loses the ability to wall jump and do his jump specials
Doesn’t matter when Akuma is far better than you and is only very slightly slower.
If Vega is 10 in speed, Akuma is 9.9.
He does not have the quickest jumps. Fei-Long and Blanka have faster jumps. Compare 4+35 (Vega) to 4+34 (Fei-Long and Blanka). Ryu’s jump is 4+36.
Claw Roll needs to be sped up. EX-Version needs to do something other than waste EX.
Wall Dives need to be sped up and do more damage. 90 damage is just pitiful considering the huge amount of risk you take.
Vega has a nice arc on his jump though, which I hope they don’t get rid of. I love his jump arc, it just feels different.
VEGA SHOULD HAVE:
An idle animation when his mask is off, where he passes the claw across his face and give it a little lick!
I’d use 2 EX bars for that.
