Shaq Fu 2: IT. IS. COMING

I’m just gonna come out and say it since this discussion has gone on long enough. If you think this is scummy or they’re trying to scam money out of you, you’re an idiot. Plain and simple, you didn’t read anything, you didn’t watch anything, you basically didn’t put any effort into looking up what is actually going on and you’re an idiot.

It says flat out on the IGG page, Shaq is putting his own money up and Big Deez are funding it as well. They don’t NEED your money to make the game and they’re going to make it anyways. The point of the IGG page is to gauge an interest in the game to see how many people actually want it. There is no downside to this at all, you preorder the game at a reduced price (again, the game is coming out whether they get the funding or not, so this IS a preorder), you can opt in to buying all the DLC that ever comes out for the game FOR CHEAPER THAN THE GAME WILL BE WHEN IT LAUNCHES, if you really want to kick some money in to help the team and the development you also get really rare or limited edition shit that you would never be able to get anywhere else, and part of all funding goes to charity.

Pre-orders happen all the god damn time for every major game ever. Is Bungie scamming money out of you if you want to pre-order Destiny? Even if it meant you got the game for half off? The fact that people are mad that one man isn’t footing the entire bill himself and spending millions of dollars for a single project he doesn’t even know will be successful is so dumb, especially considering he is actually putting up his own money to fund the project and the IGG is not centered around funding the game.

Contradiction. What they should have done IMO, since they don’t really NEED help from people, is to donate all the IGG profits (which are not really needed, right?) to charity, instead of boasting about donating a small part.

But what do I know? I’m just an idiot for having a different view on the situation than you, right?

That is not a contradiction. They don’t need your money, you CHOOSING to donate the funding doesn’t mean they’re in a bad way for money. They’re still making the game even if no one donated.

No, you’re an idiot for not reading the actual IGG page and getting mad at Shaq for not putting in all of his money instead of just some of his money. Like if you have money you’re not allowed to use a crowd funding website for a project for any reason. That’s just fucking retarded.

I hope the plot is the Black Star Ninja steals all of the rings because he is secretly Elgin Baylor. Shaq then must find his four rings while rescuing the rings of everyone else before Elgin Baylor gets a contract with Nike and becomes the marketing superstar he was destined to become. But, before you can do that, you must stop Elgin Baylor from releasing more Shaq shoes on to the market, a threat that can end life as we know it on Earth.

Nobody said that you couldnt do it.

The morality of the situation is in question.

But how is it immoral when he is putting up his own money? What does it matter if you buy the game now or later when it goes to the team either way? What is there to be upset about over a preorder?

Link to said quote, either that or share it on the Scrubquotes thread.

Not necessarily “immoral” but not completely moral.

Shaq with a net work of over 300 million dollars should just fund the entire project, after all he’s the one who wanted the game to come back.

Its not like Skullgirls or Mighty No. 9 when fan input was not only necessary but required for the games to succeed. Shaq wants to bring back Shaq Fu, and he has the money to do so, thats the part that makes it morally questionable. Besides Shaq Fu sucked, and I dont think Shaq realizes that its a fighting game community inside joke. Theres no community for this game etc etc

I could care less about preorders and all that. Its just the whole thing seems like another tax writeoff and a notch under his belt. But its not my concern. I’m certain the game is going to turn out poor.

couldnt*

You obviously not only not read the IGG page and you also didn’t watch both teaser trailers. The game’s entire promotion resolves around them knowing the first game sucked and putting in the effort for this game not to suck. They even came up with a catchphrase for it. They are very self aware.

There is no morality issue. He’s the game’s biggest investor and will be released regardless if this succeeds or not. We’re getting the game no matter what. The campaign is practically choose your own pre-order bonus. Your complaining for the sake of complaining.

Shaq does an interview talking about why he wanted to make a Shaq Fu 2, a possible Shaq Fu tournament when the game comes out, STEEL 2 HYPE, all while getting subtly trolled.

It’s funny that Shaq thinks the reason people don’t like Shaq Fu is because it looks dated from old technology.

I don’t really expect him to be that deep into fighting game mechanics to realize where the game fell short. He sounds like the people I talk to who don’t play games that much: it’s all about the graphics for them.
On paper, I think the first game could’ve actually been decent for its time if it was executed properly (it’s not like the mechanics were bad ideas… except for FURY)… too bad it wasn’t executed that well.

I wonder if they’ll try to bring back some of the older characters/remix the music or if they’ll just leave them in their graves.

Big Deez answered a question about that actually. The quote being “Returning characters… not sure about that yet but it’s possible. We want to create a whole new game that really blows people away.”

So basically not out of the question but it doesn’t seem like a high priority if it happens at all.

Sorry I didnt care THAT much to do extensive research, the fact alone that they were taking donations was more than enough to turn me off.

People arent obligated to pick up the long version and dive in head first. This information should be presented in your face.

Shaq Fu sucked. Dont care. Not a fighting game, merge this with the one in GD.

It is in your face. None of this information is hidden. Everything you need to know is right on the page. You should really look into this stuff before complaining. You come across as an idiot for not doing so.

I didnt complain I spoke my piece and that was that. Why are they taking donations? Why is there a kickstarter? Evidently this is “explained” in something I didnt read however the word I was looking for is “justified”, which it was not.

Interest was never established from the beginning. So I wont let you criminalize me for not reading some articles, I never cared from the beginning.

There is nothing to justify. You either support it or not based on the provided info. If you like what you see and the direction they’re going toss a few dollars. If not then move on to something else.

Owners can fund stadiums themselves and still manage to swindle half the cost, 500 million minimum as everything is a billion or more these days, from cities every 5-10 years. Their profits (Billions, net worth, franchise value, etc) are not passed down, or put towards charity of any high or even marginal percentage either.

“I’m rich. The guy who signs my checks, is wealthy” - Shaquille O’Neal.

Development team should be paid. Putting out like a bounty, this amount of money, come make the game with the best team, isn’t likely to happen and sounds crazier than it already is.

Anyway, all Shaq needs to concern himself with is that he was likely the worst character in his own game, right?

$473,884 funded out of the $450,000 goal.
