"Shall we dance?" Elena Thread

Healing was a troll Super in 3S and a counter against Hugo. Shocked that they brought it back. Because it doesn’t suit the character at all and with double ultra and how good her forward grab is it just seems like an odd choice.

I mean, of all the SF characters wouldn’t you expect a mystical or demonic character to have a Heal move?

So she can get ultra, heal, get it again in the same round? Smh a lot of people will be in tears

I’ll be one of them, if the rumored numbers are right this Ultra is fucking retarded. 45 percent at max? Reeeeeeeally?

Healing ultra is just stupid as fuck,it’s like saying:
-Fuck you Gill,I’m having a better ressurrection move now lol!!

I actually see it the opposite, out of all the characters she seems to me to be the Most likely to have that sort of move. Her father is listed as being a “healer” according to her bio, shes arguably the most friendly/upbeat/cheerful character in the game (mental&emotional wellbeing has a huge effect on physical health), and shes very Nature friendly (nothing heals itself like nature).

At the same there are a few others who could fit that niche like T.Hawk, Gouken or Dhalsim, but her Spirit/Personality give her a distinct edge. Just my op tho

Healing was my favorite part of Elena in 3s. So let me say I LOVE this, regardless of how useful or useless it will end up being. Instead of dealing damage she recovers health. 45% would be beastly, however she is probably completely vulnerable during the animation. This means she’ll probably never get 45% back unless she does it after stunning an opponent.

It’s a really tricky thing to balance, cause if opponent has ultra and you are completely vulnerable…whatever health you recovered will be lost plus a lot more. There has to be some cancel…maybe once you start blocking the healing stops. This would allow it to be safe but most times you won’t get much health recovery.

Her forward throw supposedly puts the opponent full screen. All she has to do against non-projectile characters (and especiay grapplers who her buttons will probably already out her at a big advantage against) is land one then cast Regen.

best bet it’s gonna work like 3s where you could manually stop it at any point (with a bit of recovery)

Landing throws is far from guaranteed, and if this is true opponents will look out for it more. Trying to regular throw grapplers is a very dangerous endeavor. Gouken can ultra or super off his back throw, but it isn’t something you see every round or even every match. Also if the player goes all out for Healing ultra, they won’t have the awesome brave dance ultra which is likely comboable. If they go double ultra the max Elena could probably get is 27% of her health or so back.

srk fadc backdash healing should be another good option.
Throw into healing should be a bit more viable than Gouken’s back throw into ultra: Gouken’s backthrow is slower and easier to tech while Elena’s throw should be standard; on top of that Mallet smash is a great option vs standing and crouch tech and you can combo stuff off it on hit.

On paper I’m liking W Ultra option for Elena, I love the idea of flexibility (either go for damage if I find the opening or heal myself).
And 27% heal is still a good amount. Well, unless she gets vanilla Seth stamina level :stuck_out_tongue:

Dash is fast
Focus attack has good range AND is airborne
Slide is good. Safe from max range, weak to focus
Crouching Elena has an extremely low profile. Makes Yan’s Rekka and Dan’s Danku whiff
Overhead is fast and has good range
Jump is slow
Lynx Tail (reverse DP + K) whiffs easily. Comes out by accident
DP doesn’t have a lot of invincibility and is not throw invincible at all.
EX Spinning Scythe not comboable?
EX Mallet Smash is extremely fast, can combo off of, and is positive on block
EX Rhino Horn - When used to go through projectiles, it tends to only do one hit and doesn’t knock down
U2 (healing) - Heals about 100HP with WUltra and a half Ultra gauge / 45%~ with single ultra and a full bar ; Can cancel it by pressing PPP

Sounds like she’ll be pretty good.

Played her a bunch yesterday. I haven’t played SF4 since Vanilla, but was still having fun.

Healing uncancelled has hilariously bad recovery. You’ll never see a full healing in real play.

All the forms of Rhino Horn were too slow to be useful, even EX.

Guile matchup was super easy.

Making Japanese players rage is super hilarious.

All combos that where in SFxT should be possible minus the juggling normals. Only normal that should juggle is her jump heavy Kick,
I’ll be sad if the following doesn’t combo
Both stand and crouch :lk: > :l: or :2k: spin sycthe. :m: and :h: versions did not combo from light kick
Both stand and crouch :lk: > all versions of Lynx tail
Crouch :mp: > :l: :m: or :2k: version of Rhino Horn
Both crouch and stand :mp: can combo into any version of spin scythe

Also I hope they fix crouch :hp:. it forces the opponent to stand and yet it misses crouchers

Yeah, I hit someone with Super then it dropped midway and the guy punished me for hitting him.

Huh. This contradicts pretty much everything we’ve heard about her so far.

So to my SFxT bros is her MP still two hit and cancelable with both hits? Does EX Rhino still put them in a special animation or does it just knockdown? Does her st.lk still have monster range? And can you link her F+MP into st.lk?
