In a month, a dark age is coming for all games that are not Diablo 3.
lol at people still talking about “Dark Age” nonsense.
If by all means, we turn into a “Capcom Dark Age”, I’m all for it. Other good games deserve way more spotlight than Capcom titles.
Skullgirls will also cost only a mere 15 dollars, will be a completely refreshing game, fix a lot of the issues of current fighers out now and the DLC will be much easier to add since as for what Mike Z has told me…it’s just scripting and not code (they should hopefully be cheap also).
With people tired of unfinished 60 to 80 dollar games…I think there’s a lot of incentive to release a more indie game that they can grow into liking that will only cost them 15 dollars. If you don’t wanna spend the 15 dollars you can still play a 2 character demo of the game FOR FREE just to try it out once it hits.
8th grade social studies class shit. LOL.
Yeah Skullgirls has the advantage of holding that affordable 15$ price point while being flexible with team sizes and assist choices. My only gripe might be that I’m already extensively playing KOFXIII and Marvel, so one more game is…!
Another problem is there’s too many good fighting games at the same time.
The fighting game community isn’t that big and they’re already divided between SF4, Marvel, MK9, SCV, BB:CS, KOF, Tekken and SFxTK. And there’s the upcoming DOA, Skullgirls, Dark Stalkers and TKxSF coming. And maybe a new Killer Instinct and Rival Schools to top it off lol. Everyone is trying to take advantage of the current popularity of the fighter genre but in the process they over saturate the market for it and that results in a too big competition and division within the FGC.
People don’t have time to play every fighting game. So they choose 2 or 3 and ignore the rest. No matter how great SFxTK is or could be, a lot of people are already invested in SSF4, MK9, KOF or Marvel so it’s hard for them to put the time, money and effort to relearn a completely new fighter.
Yeah the only game I’ve been playing to any extent is Marvel so it’s lot easier to move over to the next game. Once Skullgirls hits that will be the main priority with UMVC3 a close second (may start to play less and less UMVC3 as I really get into Girls but we’ll see). VF5 FS will be the other game I give time to until I give Capcom one last shot with Darkstalkers.
Actually, the whole system the game is based around is degradation of your opponent’s life bar. It would be perfectly reasonable to remove what was very much a tertiary, gimmicky design decision. However since the development cycle was so deliberately and obviously rushed, developers scratched up the gem system in an ultimately doomed attempt to spit out SF4 with a different skirt.
Clearly not a developer decision. Management gave designers deliverable targets to meet and a deadline, and walked out the door. No developer likes making a shit product, but sometimes the big man forces your hand and you ship 55 turds instead of a solid, well tested and designed cast.

Fixed
Hey guys, ME3 currently has a $10 price drop at Amazon.com.
Clearly that game isn’t doing very well.
Stay free, SRK.
EDIT: Lol, currently the XBox version of SFxT costs MORE than ME3 at Newegg.com
So…yeah.
Now that’s really fixed.
A+. A good game, is a good game, is a good game.
If the game just dropped that low in price does that mean I’ll only get like $20 on a trade in right now? Because with how disappointed I am in it I think I’m just gonna sell then use the money to keep my xbox sub goin and buy skullgirls in a week. Then maybe I’ll rebuy it when capcom gets their shit together.
I’ve never had an issue with the DLC already being on the disc. In fact, I find it absolutely asinine that people were (are) in such an uproar about just that. I will admit that the 360 version did get fucked over, and fucked over pretty damn badly. There’s no doubt that the DLC ordeal was decided by another division of Capcom. Ono and his team are developers, not publishers - so they only create the content and the publishing aspect of Capcom decides how it’s released. Of course, Ono isn’t going to try to shift blame to the publishers (and/or his boss[es]). So what’s the result? Loads of Ono hate.
I actually like SFxT - yeah, there are some elements I hate with a passion. Assist Gems? Screw 'em. Quick Combos? Screw them too. But if you’re going to insult the netcode, try to go somewhere else - obviously, you haven’t played the enough outside of watching streams (and that’s not always so reliable… they are streaming). There are some changes that they can make via patching/DLC. It isn’t as though they’re charging you for a patch to fix the infinite combos or something, something that massively effects gameplay. The price drop? Yeah, simple supply and demand logic.
Exactly, this happens with clothes all the time. Consumers are obviously focused on the single product, but retailers think in terms of hundreds/thousands. If I’ve already made my money back on an order by selling the first 2000 dresses or whatever full price, I’ll slash the fuck out of the rest just to clear out some space, doesn’t matter.
The price drop has nothing to do with the game itself, look at the deals Best Buy, Gamestop, Amazon. It’s war out there, and stores are cutting each others throats trying to sell anything because the country is fucking broke. My friend who’s a Best Buy manager said overall for 4th quarter last year there were down 14 million in game sales. It’s getting to the point where I don’t want to order new games for my indie store because I’m tired of giving publishers $56 a pop on new games, and they price drop within 2 months. Assassin’s Creed Revelations is going for $19.99 on sale this week, the amount of price drops over the past 3 months is goddamn appalling…and yet developers are still bitching.
Just look at that shit, this is flatout desperation for game sellers
Skull girls is also 8 characters for $15 at launch.
It’s funny how people quantify their purchases.
Just pay for what you want to play.

Off topic, but I’m seriously starting to dig this game.
Best way to be off topic.
