SFxTekken General Discussion Thread

Went ahead and made a netcode thread on Unity since it’s being filled with the usual ridiculous amount of “I want X character” posts. Should at least get Capcom’s attention that people want more shit than just characters.

basically tekken characters can do their own unique strings lifted from the source games with lp/lk/mp/mk.
what this also means for the tekken side is that lp = left, mp = right and so on. hp/hk are simply extra normals for them.

Loathing is an inevitable response from those with the predisposition to loathe.

The system looks fantastic, and it’s very early days yet. I’m loving the graphics, even though the base models are lifted straight from SF4.

This is why 3D models are a good thing. Even if they’re ugly to start with, you can easily mess around with a model, add effects/filters and et voila, you got niceness.

And yes, the models are nice. Even if I suspect changes to them before the final release, ala SF4 beta vs. release SF4.

Dudley BELONGS in this game. It would not only boggle the mind but it would be a CRIME to have him restricted to the limited system of SSF4 and not in this juggle-combo fest where he would CLEARLY shine.

I think it looks fantastic! Do want!

I really curious how they will implement Steve… Because they have to…

The videos of SFxT left me totally cold. Just looks like some sort of rough SFIV knock off.

It’s beyond me why Capcom are hyping this already when AE is supposed to be the new hotness. I have no doubt in my mind SFxT will supersede SFIV.

The initial footage and engine somehow seemed better. Kazuya seemed more like his Tekken self. Now he seems like a re-skinned sf character. They managed to make something that seemed to be 2 franchises coming together with a minor sf4 engine compromise on the namco side, into sf4, now with tekken characters. It’s like the only tekken elements they left in were knockdowns on anti-airs, and the characters themselves.

That’s nice, but people who have played the game (like Markman, who’s pretty big on Tekken if you didn’t know…) disagree.

It’s the art style choice.

SFIV = Ink
Super = Pencil
SFxT = Water

How…? I mean, really. How? In what ways does it seem like SF4?

Is it the ultras? The focus attacks?

Or maybe its tag mechanics work too similairly to SF4’s? Perhaps you don’t like how the chain/juggle combo system is very similair to the one found in SF4?

I mean, it’s not like they’ve updated the roster, meter system or specials system either.

/sarcasm

Literally absolutely everything about the game is completely different except for graphical presentation. There is NOTHING, from what you can tell by viewing all of these trailers, that suggests this title will play anything like SF4.

Do you mean that Markman feels Kazuya in SFxT plays very much like Kazuya in Tekken?

TBH the graphics don’t look that hot though. Hopefully it’ll improve down the line.

I like the direction they’re taking with the visuals though it’s obvious that they’re not finished. I’m looking forward to seeing what the final product looks like.

For one thing, the health meters take up too much of the screen. Either that’s going to shrink or the camera is going to move back a little, which I would prefer to making the meters smaller.

Oh and does anyone else hate those cinematic throws? Totally unnecessary IMO, and the transition doesn’t seem to be all that smooth.

That’s the Tekken flavour coming through. I don’t know what to think about them. On the one hand I think they look kind of cool, especially Guile’s German Suplex, but on the other I MIGHT get tired of seeing them.

Again, a bunch of the graphical side of things are bound to change.

I mean by judging from these picture of movelist and combo, they seem to have a bit of Tekken control in there

I really hope they change the Mist Step input to just DP instead of F, N, D, DF. So uneccesary, and you could still do it the old way if you really wanted to.

Are they seriously changing chun’s legs to a motion?

Don’t know what to say…

Signed,
Everybody

Loving where this is going, just needs a lot of polishing.

Now I hope they take the MvC3 path and start announcing characters every now and then with cool trailers. Can’t wait to see the full roster.

Also, HCF Chun Legs sounds weird as fuck. And who the hell is getting beat by Kazuya in this pic?

Ryu judging by the red gloves and the bare feet.

It’s to accommodate the new “charge” specials mechanic.

You can’t hold down a button to charge it if it’s a mash move.

Anyone know King’s moveset? He looks like an interesting grappler.
