SFxTekken General Discussion Thread

All they have to do is have Fei without a shirt, and Law with shirts and his moustache. Fei, being proportioned like a cartoon character, has way broader shoulders and a waist narrower than Law. Law is noticeably older, as well. They could pull it off.

I’m wondering what happens when they have to do Zangief. Chargeable command grab? :xeye:

crosses fingers for Q

I think he would work pretty well in the engine and he would support the gritty look of the engine.

Do we think the developers are actually gonna make new characters specifically for SFxT though? I dont want ‘The Super Street Fighter IV AE cast x Tekken’. I dont want it to turn out like CVS2 where they only put in a handful of absolutely brand new Capcom characters like Maki and the rest were all reused.

What kind of special moves would you like to see for some of these characters? I’m hoping that Nina might have her qcf 3 as a Special move is this game. It’ll be good for closing space and punishing standing opponents. She also needs her counter as qcb p and it would be cool if it could be chained together into a throw.

in other news, harada posts concept of Tekken X SF on facebook. look carefully:

Tekken x Street Fighter.

In due time, in due time.

I’m cautiously optimistic for SFxT. What I’ve seen so far seems very promising. No comeback mechanic or focus attacks = I already like this game better than SSFIV. What I’m really curious about is whether or not shortcuts are still present, and if it’s to the same extent as in the SFIV series. Realistically I’d assume they are, but I really, really hope not.

i personally hope they keep the shortcuts for the 360 motion

other than that I hope they get rid of the rest (especially the shoryuken motion), and instead include a simple mode to cater to the casual crowd. but good lord make sure the simple mode players can only fight each other. “no-charge” guile should never ever ever be allowed to fight regular guile.

Lets hope that negative edge is not in this game either.

wut?

Why would negative edge not be in this game? That would be like getting rid of buffering.

Negative Edge is a Capcom staple, it is in the game.

EDIT - Nevermind that, they were talking about plinking, not negative edge.

 Heihachi has Ryu/Ken’s stance and does a shoryuken, and Nina has Chun’s stance.

I know its all place holder just to try out the moves but its still cool

I can appreciate the optimism but I think capcom’s gonna be all like “FUCK what DAT NIGGA CHEECH WANT!”

What gripes are to be had with focus attacks? they’re one of my favourite things about SF4.

As a Viper player I don’t care much for focus attacks.

For me, it’s not so much that they are bad on a competitive level per se. Just that I simply don’t enjoy them and would much rather play an SF game without them. Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt lol.

Comeback mechanics make for some exciting matches tho.

That depends on how it works for/against me as a participant, and how it looks to me as a spectator.

Tekken 6’s Rage is a downer on both fronts; in a juggle happy game it disrupts pace and seems to betray Tekken’s core mechanics. And watching it happen, is not exciting or interesting - you just sympathize with the loser or feel no glory for the winner.

SF4’s Ultra Moves are interesting in that they aren’t as free as salty people make it seem, there’s a metagame for user and potential victim. Two players with Ultra Moves ready at the tail end of a match is also very exciting.

MvC3’s X factor is interesting for the user with the roman cancels and buffs, but it seems to piss off victims (particularly XF3). Watching it in a match is interesting in that you’re never quite sure when a player will pull it out - adding an excitement factor. But XF3 victories are widely frowned upon. MvC3’s comeback mechanic is half and half here.

King of Fighter’s Desperation Moves seems to have avoided the current mob’s debate over comeback mechanics for over a decade, even if it’s more blatantly used as such by design. I like it as a user and spectator.
