SFxTekken General Discussion Thread

The harsh reality of the situation is, that Capcom already have a netcode with SFIV, and with SFxT being build on the same engine it’ll be the cheapest and easiest solution for them to copy and paste it over. Nothing has to be done from scratch, all they have to do (wich is totally optional on their behalf) is try and optomize it’s performance to suit SFxT’s gameplay.

That is the thing when talking about Capcom’s netcode. They never, ever, ever, said they couldn’t do. They basically blatantly say that they won’t do it, and that’s all becuase of the feedback. Capcom HAS the money to implement the rollback style netcode, but because of the unproductive feedback, they probably will never do it.

Yes they did.

And you know this how??? Just because a company does a lot of business doesn’t mean they make a lot of money, and even when profits are good, that doesn’t mean they have the expendable sums. You really have no information to make this claim at all. Even moreso, the only information out there to take in states the opposite, that Capcom is suffering financially at the moment, along with many other publishers.

Seriously, interviews better be in check with Ono on the netcode this time around. We just have to be more vocal.

I hope the game speeds up somewhat, I have no clue as to why Capcom would make something more floaty then ssf4, and there is no air combo system. That is like, zero purpose. The game needs faster jumps and hella faster moves. Take notes Ono.

That’s hilarious

Retooling takes time and money. Yes, if games had infinite time and money they can do everything but they don’t. Capcom is a company that needs to stay afloat, release schedules and development timelines are made based on when the company needs the game out, not when they want it to come out, except for independent companies such as Valve.

Look at the interface for MvC3, time was spent working on the core game, so it is rather clear to everyone that the interface was rushed, something as simple as that. Even more, Jill was incomplete and unbalanced (according to the strategy guide).

Now imagine how the game would have turned out if a month was devoted to improvement of the netcode for the game. Large portions of that game probably wouldn’t exist, or the game’s core would have been horrendous.

The Skull Girls team isn’t comparable at all. They weren’t even a company until recently. Even more, any business teacher could tell you that managing human resources is far easier in a small company than in a large one. Grasshopper studios was able to turn a profit from Killer 7, a game that sold under 30,000 copies. That’s something a corporation could never do.

Even more, you are talking about balancing the use of the game industries most valuable commodity, programmers.

To quote Brenda Brathwaite, There will never be enough coders. You could be locked into a prison made for coders and there still won’t be enough coders.

Also note that during many parts of the years many corporations run in the red, not making a profit, and we’re talking about big big coporations with big big volume and high demand, far more than Capcom. You are looking too much at the net and ignoring the cost and risk that is inherent in the video game industry.

So no, you don’t know, capcom isn’t nearly transparant enough for you to ever to even begin to know something.

It doesn’t take that many words Anemone to get the point across that Capcom didn’t feel implementing good netcode was worth the resources. :coffee:

Kotaku, the Gamer?s Guide

The worst preview I’ve seen in years.

From what was shown so far, SFxT seems really good. However, I’m not entirely sure if the game uses chain combos or not.

From what the previews say, it doesn’t. Chained lights still don’t cancel, you still need to link stuff, etc.

So we’re stuck for the next couple months seeing the standard noobish capcom cr. lk, cr. lk XX special/super/whatever, huh? That shit annoys me. Whenever capcom has people trying a beta, that’s all you see, or jumpkick, sweep. At what point do those people start using their brains and do j hk, standing hp X special/super? You never see that basic shit till the game comes out.

Fuck it, may as well put dopple gangers.

Ganryu x Honda, Jack x Zangief, Marshall x Fei, Dudley x Steve, Christie x Elena etc etc…

I just hope Brian Fury and Alex are in the game.

Alex from SFIII? If that is the case, hell yeah!

I doubt we will get LAW and Fei long in the same game, why would they do that? they are the same character based from bruce lee, or ganryu + Honda, both sumos, nothing worse then clones

Yep, Kotaku being ignorant tools as always. The readers will eat it up of course. This shit seriously needs to stop if the FGC keeps getting looked down upon by the mainstream. If they don’t know how to cover fighting games, then maybe they shouldn’t bother with SFxT.

The sad part is I can imagine Seth Killian trying really hard to get through to Totilo. Utterly ridiculous.

Eh, they would not have the same moveset. Plus this is what casuals would want to see.

Damn, probably will be fixed later but this is really irking me. Why the hell is everything so damn slow? Speed this shit up, it’s annoying and should be addressed.

If you’re going to post something as terrible as that from a Gawker site, you should at least use the Canada version so that it uses the old appearance and not that shitty Gawker 2.0

One Illuminating Hour Playing Street Fighter X Tekken

But yeah, the preview was awful as fuck. You figure that they’d at least have someone who actually knows something about fighting games to actually do the preview. The only saving grace was those bits at the end where he talked to Seth about discovering a move and figuring out a guy had trouble against Kazuya - actually got me nostalgic for a bit.

I haven’t been keeping up with all the information but does can the universal only be blocked high like Tekken or does it hit mid only. And if it does hit only mid would you prefer it?
