you should become project manager, you would definitely get the job done right.

Except you don’t want, you cry fouwl all day, over things that don’t even need crying over. You cry over Ono trolling for god’s sake.
With subjectives everything is left up to the individual. You have your ideal of an ideal multiplayer community, others have theirs.
No he said 3D graphics. there are other elements of a game that can prevent it from running GGPO, such as HD remix and MvC2, both 2D games both with coding that was apprentally incompatable with GGPO.
I’m not sure how aware you are of how time consuming building and/or rebuilding a new engine is. Even Valve, a company who has deep pockets, is copmletely indepenendnt, and is more than willing to spend 10 years on a single game is still reusing their original engine to this day with the upcoming Portal 2, and the constant reuse of this engine does come with some faults and limitations in their games, all beit very minor ones at that.
Also note that there are a number of people at Capcom who do legitmentally endorse and support GGPO, such as Seth Killian. A company wouldn’t license GGPO for no reason unless they had some intention of using it, and I really doubt that Final Fight is a high enough profile to reallly count for such intention.
Namco hasn’t gotten it in a big name title yet though either. Tekken’s netplay is more or less on par with what Capcom’s been dishing out as well, unless Tag improves on what 6 had to offer.
I know my typing while at work can be attorcious, but note that I said that I didn’t think gamers today were lazy, as you had stated multiple times in multiple threads.
Nah, give it to Shoultz, compared to him I’m soft, he’d snap their asses into shape faster than XFLv3 Magneto can kill a team.
shut up anemone
Kinda irrelevant but fixed

I cry over Ono trolling? Oh I see, you can’t counter the argument so something you are pulling out of your ass.
Ponder said SPECIFICALLY that GGPO can work with SSF4, Capcom just has to implement it properly. At this point, I don’t want GGPO in SFxT, I just want rollback.
They are capable of making good online, they just see it as a waste of money. I wonder why? coughgamerswillingtodefendcapcomtothedeathaboutonlineandcontinuetobeinthierstateofdenial cough
Namco DBZ, using GGPO. Even 3s ggpo is better then online MvC3, and probably SSF4. And it doesn’t even implement the source code they cannot access. (That is the reason why it is not as good as it could be btw)
Gamers today who would rather play other genre’s rather then fighting games equal lazy? Get me one post where I said Gamers were lazy? I probably used the word Lazy to describe unwilling to work to get good, first hand experience with everyone that I have ever met/played minus the CTF/The next level guys in my entire life, but where have I ever used it to describe unwilling to travel?
Good call, I couldn’t think of anything good.
Guys, whatever dumb argument you’re having, take that shit to the PMs. If you’re not gonna discuss/theorize about the game, get out.
I’m thinking no, as that move is part of King’s move list in the Tekken series. He can reverse
all incoming front kicks. It’s wicked that it made it in this game. Although, I’m not entirely convinced
it’s not a manual input throw itself here.
And we’ve seen no one else in the present media/videos doing anything similar…with a hit to super
meter.
~K.
Except it isn’t because the game didn’t use GGPO because it couldn’t, so instead opted for their own rollback code, same with MvC2. It has been stated on ocasionwhy these games didn’t use GGPO specifically.
It’s kinda cool that SFxT is doing its round wins TTT-style.
Those heavily edited clip-compilation “matches” were really tripping me out, though. In one instance, the first round ended, and then for the second round they made it seem like only the two point characters’ life bars had refilled to 100%; it looked as though both players’ in-waiting characters kept their partially-depleted life totals going into the next round. My mind was doing backflips. “You get… four life bars for three rounds?? You need to choose where to use your one extra character???”
I had to rewind and then double-check the other videos just to confirm that it was untrue. :looney:
I think. Well I dunno. I was on cold medication when I watched them.
Starting a productive discussion about netcode to let Capcom know that we ain’t playing this time. We should want more facts about the game’s netcode.
People STILL don’t care? 3 times this has been happening. We have to be more vocal about the Netcode of SfxT and assume that it sucks until capcom proves us otherwise.
I just watched the vid with kazuya talking to jin while placing his boot on Ryu’s face for the upteenth time. Found the funniest comment on youtube.
Kazuya: I know your listening Jin. The man you want to meet so much, is here!
Jin: Look if this is? about all those times I’ve beat you in SSF4 with Ryu, I’m sorry! Get over it!
Ryu: GET THE FUCK OFF MY FACE!!!

Thanks 7eternalsa for a good laugh.
For some reason I still need to pinch myself to see if I am dreaming. Will need to reserve this now.
Before we can have a serious discussion on Netcode we need serious facts from both camps such as: What limitations does Capcom see with GGPO being integrated with their engine, etc.
We need someone who has done extensive Xbox/PS3 development, especially on the network infrastructure side, to chime in and give the lo down on what these systems[xbox,ps3], limitations are pertaining to this issue.
Also do realize that GGPO was made for PC. The xbox and ps3 architectures are completely different animals and are very limited in comparison to a PC, so the question is how difficult is it to port ggpo code to these architectures, and what are the compromises that need to be made to get it running correctly.
Finally, what is the cost to Capcom to retool their engines to use this technology? and by implementing ggpo what resources will be impacted(graphics, button interrupts, gameplay). Do these engines need ggpo running during offline sessions? Is there an elegeant solution that will turn ggpo off during offline activity and on during online activity? etc., etc.
Right now I doubt anyone has any real credible information to share, so the best one can do is petition for it.
on my top of the list atm. So good.
I feel King perfectly fits in the SF genre, I wonder what the second episode will go about, because I love the episodes leading upto the release, it makes it all the more epic for me, I am wondering if they put Devil Jin in it or Jin himself, we probably will find out next episode, hopefully at the electronics event
You could even pretend to read you know.
For fuck’s sake, those games are running emulated, you’re going to tell me GGPO isn’t compatible with the exact same inputs and outputs as it uses in the client? You’re full of it. The only reason GGPO isn’t in HD Remix and MvC2 is they hadn’t licensed it yet for the former and reused the emulation framework for the latter. But sure, a game that’s part of the GGPO client and uses code that works the same as GGPO couldn’t support GGPO. That’s it. Obviously. WHAT FOOL WOULD BELIEVE OTHERWISE!?
Is this thing actually scheduled for a console release first? Since Tekken is primarily an arcade franchise at the moment I got the feeling it should actually be released there initially. Regardless this game is being done somewhat on the cheap, and it’s clear Capcom doesn’t want to blow money on significant R&D rather than just plugging some changes into SSFIV’s engine and systems.
Ya know, if plinks really are gone, then that means that the input system has changed, which may or may not mean the netcode has been imrpoved. Seth said that the reason SFIV could not use rollback netcode was because of how the input system worked, so if that has been reworked, we may just get an improved netcode.
Its early (mad early), but do people think sfxt will have the ability (and push) to be the headline game at 2012 majors like evo? Just curious if this will segment the scene or just migrate them.
