SFxT Review and Impressions with dat Nycc flavor!

Lili can follow up her EX Knee Hop with a regular Knee Hop.

Seth said Heihachi super has some projectile invincibility, probably works like Cammy’s super.

This may not be NYCC tonight but can some people who are in the LA area who are going to fight club attempt to get some information based on these questions?

If can, thank you.

These fight clubs are for Americans to get their hands on the TGS build right? Only thing I am expecting from the next few smaller events are teaser trailers for Asuka and Rufus.

Someone should start a thread for LA Fight Club impressions.

Ahh I will be making a NYCCC Update of the game. Please stay tuned~ Loool people just found that wave dashing. Lol It’s not even as good as his dash XD

I think i will be going to the NYCCC thing as well.

I’ll be going as well but I won’t be going anywhere near this game.

Have fun~

^ pointless post

Ok ok.

I’ll walk by it and laugh and point and then walk away.

Happy now?

I won’t be happy 'til you’ve officially muttered a witty anecdote about the game that no doubt sullies it and its bully reputation.

Ok guys today for the first time I had the chance to play SfxT for the comic con build. What I have to say is not pretty. If you had high hopes for this game be warned. I’m about to place all hopes in a blender, and destroy them.

So for the most part I only went one day for play this game. I had such high hopes for it since the fight club that happened a few months ago. To my dismay I was disturbed, and totally thrown off by how much the game had changed… To the worst thing I’ve played yet. Not only did I feel like capcom butchered this poor game for it’s former glory, but as well they went backwards. I first got in to play at the booth, I went to kaz ,and hwo to test them out. First thing I noticed thatgame felt totally sluggish. I mean it was different. Pokes where slower, you can’t punish things that were at times unsafe. Lmhh combos as well were downtoned in speed. You have to press the buttons at a much faster rate then before. Dashes were toned down greatly which IMO takes away from the rush down aspect of the game. Block strings seem totally unsafe at times unless you go into a lmh string which pushes the characters too far to punish at times due to either the plus frames on them, or pushes you back too far. It feels like the down paced to the game to fit a ssf4 play style. It honestly hurts how the game plays. I felt disgusted playing it as well. I switched a few times to test out other characters but the out come was the same. Sluggish normals, very bad speeds in walk speeds, and in dashes. IMO heihachi might be pretty good, but that’s just a guess, capcom nerfed kaz and hwo hardcore. Hwos great pokes arent even good to try to footies with. Kaz is still good he’s just a former shadow of himself, more like a hollow shell.

Grabs aren’t buffed they’re still about the same range, some people now were mashing in between strings, on wake up, just felt bad. One of my friends said this" I felt like the game turned into total crap, I saw people mashing so I would just go into a brainless mindset of tiger uppercuts." As well from wgat I found out, Hugo is honestly really good. You can’t cross him up at all. His anti air grab auto corrects late, or early to Grab you out of the sky. His long range , as well with the speed of this version he seems to be buffed or just the whole down toning made him better. I honestly feel like I’ve lost all hope for this game now. I mean it’s just one person, but right now this game has lost all hype in my book, might not even consider buying, or even entering a tournament for it.

Capcom had a great formula, back at the fight club, but right now for what it seems, the game has taken a turn for the worst. None the less this is just a beta so the game will be getting more
Changes as the time goes by. Hopefully they consider that older build, and use that for the final product. But for now I’m not even willing to give this game a second look.

It’s common knowledge that the NYCC build and TGS build are terrible now. It will be balanced soon enough hopefully.

That’s strange. From what I kept hearing, the NYCC build was identical to the build for thier last big exhibition. Was that the Fight Club one or TGS? I’m not quite sure.

In any event, I noticed that there was one detail that you didn’t mention about the NYCC build: The fact that* it was at New York Comic Con*. For the most part, the crowd there were either fans of something else in particular, kids with their families, casual observers, and only a small fraction of the overall crowd in attendance were hardcore fight fans. This was no dedicated fight club by a long shot. In this environment, you’re naturally not going to get the best players, and there will be quite a bit of mashiness here and there, especially with a new game most people have never even touched yet (when free t-shirts are on the line too). I was keeping plenty of people at bay with just basic baits and zoning, so it really doesn’t shock me that your friend bought himself two tickets to Mindless Tiger Uppercut Land.

This was my first time ever picking up the game, and I had a lot of fun with it. I expected it to be more or less a similar pace with SF4, and I was not dissapointed in the slightest. That said, there are still a couple other points I would like to consider:

 • This is nowhere near the final build of the game. From the very beginning, this seemed like a game that really needed to break away from the conception that this was a SF4 clone and establish its own identity. Considering we have 5 months before the game’s release, and there’s entire modes, characters, and other things that still need to be implemented in a public build, I would say it’s well on it’s way there, and the end result is going to be quite a bit different than what we may expect…and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

 • SFxT is not the only major fighter Capcom is working on and hyping up. They are pretty much a house divided at this point, also working on getting UMvC3 up and out the door. Granted, I’m not entirely sure whether or not this is a case of divided resources over at Capcom, or a deliberate move to avoid a deluge of information to fans, or maybe even a mix of both. I just have enough reason for me to believe that once UMvC3 drops and the Capcom corporate team has only one new fighter to promote, that’s when we will really see a flood of new information, changes, characters, modes, and the like.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to sound like I’m bashing you for having your own opinion, there were quite a few points of yours I agreed with. I just get concerned that players who are unable to come to exhibitions like these before release and get all their info from peer reviews will see nothing but a flurry of bad news and criticisms, and lose hype this soon for what I still believe has the potential for a really fun, competitive, and unique game in the end.

Yea the build they used at NYCC was the TGS build and that build everything is bad

Maybe we should try and message them to return the combo system back to the NY fight club build.

Not at all. Any crit is welcome.
To the part of the mashing I only played like about 3 games with mashers, the rest were high level players that I chill with, and personally know. So we did have a lot of time breaking in the game for some simple testing, To me the current version just felt horrid. Nothing at all wrong, I do know it’s not done yet. But if it does continue at this pace I personally will not support this game.
As for the the Hype, I’ve lost all hype for the game by a large amount. I’m more thrilled for Skullgirls honestly speaking. I’m not bashing the game, but these current tweaks urked me enough to feel dirty playing it. Of course in a none competitive area we won’t get high play, but it’s enough to see what the casual player’s can get away with. For the most part I just feel some what disappointed, hopefully theres a change for the better in later builds.
Also Hi Genstar I miss the MGO days Shout outs to Music =D

Here is some videos I recorded at the con. Sorry I suck so bad! this was my second time playing SFxT. First video is me using poison and Lili, second video isn’t me.

Sounds to me like a laggy monitor is the problem here.

Not really, they were using the same monitors all around. I was playing third strike on these, and there was no lag. That wasn’t the issue at all. You honestly see the difference from my videos to the videos that are being uploaded for the game.

I can’t see the difference. Pokes look the same, walk speed looks the same. And apparently they had laggy monitors for UMVC3.
