Capcom caught a lot of shit for including on-disk DLC for the consoles. I would imagine this at least factored into their decision to leave it off on the PC disks. Likewise, updates and true DLC don’t cost extra for them to put out on PC, unlike on Xbox/PSN, which is a large part of their motivation to include it on those platforms. Perhaps they left it out on PC to deter piracy, but I doubt it. It’ll be available soon enough, and people will steal it then. There’s really not much left to discuss.
@LordWilliam1234
Much of that stuff is still doable, just not as conveniently, since none of the existing tools work exactly right (they should only require small adjustments to start working again). You should still be able to do most everything manually using hex editing. I’ll try to do some proof of concept work this evening.
i had a set of tekken/chaos legion music prepared for swap [details=Spoiler] [media=youtube]lMXn9br0oSU[/media][/details]
but too bad, so sad. maybe at some point in future it will be possible
Stealing something physical is not the same thing as pirating something. If you were to steal a game disc from a store, they incur a “loss”. If you pirate something, they do not incur a “loss”, they simply do not have a “gain”, because you are not removing anything, you are only copying it.
I’d say “fuck Capcom and their shady business practices” is a good enough justification.
yes I can. I just wait for them to absolutely have to give them to me for free or let them go to waste. which is also bad. especially to the mexicans that work at mcds’ they could have ate those too. and probably do eat them.
but thats irrelevant, we arent talking about a perishable good, we are talking about a box that can be opened with a key, using a nonstandard key, or replacing that boxes missing tools with tools that fit it properly. all of which is perfectly normal and happens every single day.
Ima have my cake. eat it. and then penetrate the leftovers.
okay, so its opening a box and or moving tools. k got it. 100% legal, moral and ethical. capcoms the one trying to steal from me. so of course im not going to allow them to do that.
crapcoms DLC and “ULTIMATE MEGA GOLD SILVER PLATIMNUM ULTRASEX ARCADE EDITION TWO THOUSAND AND FUN EDITION” BS should be illegal… especially since they lied to us by ADVERTISING one thing… and doing another, in texas iirc this can be punished by the electric chair and is known as the “bait n switch”.
this is why everyone who owns the PC version should just steal it. we all pitch in a penny on a single copy of the DLC and tell capcom to fuck off and spread that shit for free like wild fire so the game will be modified to function properly at no cost to the community who should have got it that way in the first place.
I’m not going to bother replying to any of the stupid here anymore, because its horribly off topic and you, quite frankly, can’t fix dumb.
On topic:
So, we’ve figured out how to swap music files around? Is it possible to have custom music converted to the file format that the game uses, or is it something weird that no one has heard of?
I like how you keep comparing the situation to things that are not even remotely close to it.
and then ignore posts that state an exact same situation, perfectly acceptable legal practices. that happens everyday everywhere.
no johns capcom is 9001% in the wrong and you are 0% in the wrong if you do want this kind of modification. capcom would lose in court. thats why they havent sued anyone into submission to send us a message. because there is no message. we could destroy them for this if we really wanted to.
thats easy, most the time you can just rename the music file to whatever the name of an existing games music file is and just change the extension to match too… it works for alot of game like this actually.
Yeah, I was asking specifically about making a custom package.
English is a second language for you, huh? Please just say yes, even if its your native. I need, very desperately, for you to do this.
For the record, I have nothing against you for pirating. I used to do it before I working nad making enough to buy whatever I wanted – but I think one issue with it is that no one accepts that despite all of the excuses across the internet, it really is the exact same thing as stealing. Do it if you feel you want/need to, but accept that it is still a crime and rightly so – even if only because people put effort into making a product that you shouldn’t feel entitled to have. If you spend a year and half of your life putting your time and energy into something, you wouldn’t be happy with someone taking it and claiming they were entitled to have it without paying. Capcom’s practices are subject, but the people making these games for us didn’t have naything to do with those decisions and deserve some respect.
As a musician, writer, and artist – I have to say I’d be pissed if any of my work was stolen. Theft is theft no matter how you justify it.
I’m going to start infracting the fuck out of anyone that starts whining about the DLC in any thread that isn’t the Ranting Thread. It’s annoying and it completely derails any thread the subject pops up in.
Also, same goes for the whole piracy talk. Knock it off unless you want a year-long ban.
So much for trying to end the dispute on a civilized note.
[details=Spoiler]Ignorance must be bliss. Its easy to not understand when you spend your entire life being a consumer and never actually make anything. I’d rather be a “coporate shill” than an insignificant, self-entitled slob.
When you create something, anything, meaningful and have people steal it from you then you can tell me what I don’t know. Until then you’re just a spoiled waste of space too ignorant to know wrong from right and too pretentious to accept “want” =/= “deserve.” I hope you miss everything cool and die angry. [/details]
On Topic.
So, if you can change colors using hex code, how would you change something from matte to metallic? Is that even possible? I imagine it’s just another hex variable somewhere.
I suppose you could wait till the metallic colors come out and compare them to the non-metallic ones. There’s probably a filter that applies to all of them. Same with the glow ones.
@ViolentDjango
Glow and reflection are governed by materials and material attributes located in the obj.emm files, just as in AE. You can read up on the hex method here or you can use NanjouJ’s MatEdit tool to deal with things in plain text. There’s a partial list of materials here, but it’s really easiest just to copy them from another character’s files.
look django. this is what it is man, they made this game and have advertised it with all its “DLC” characters as gonna be available on disc, and changed their mind literally the week of launch. all websites said the twelve DLC’s were not DLC’s but full characters up until the VERY last few weeks before the game came out. they are straight up illegitimately milking you for extra $$ when they had intended on selling that shit ALL AT ONCE. its “stealing” to hack find the character files for the pc version on the internet, but its not unethical.
its not stealing to open a lock you own with a non-standard key.(which is why console mod should be ok, and if you OWN console version, ripping those characters from disc to implement in PC version should also be ok)
its not very fair to even suggest a ban over something that is THE topic of the thread… modifications to the game to use it other than intended. these are mods and thusforth should in fact be fair game. On top of that it is completely legal to do all of those character mods despite what capcops may want you to believe. just because you dont like reading about it because its a topic thats been argued and argued and argued to death does not mean it is off topic, or piracy. until one of these so called pirates get tried in the court of law and lose (which they wont) it should be 100% acceptable conversation regardless of capcoms greedy lustful desire.
correct me if im wrong… buuuuuuuuuut isn’t a forum a place where anyone should be able to openly discuss anything related to the topic at hand from their own logical, moral, and ethical standpoints? If you can talk about altering the games music and texture files you should be able to talk about altering and implementing its character files. BLACK AND WHITE segregation is what it is the same thing as racism just with objects instead of people. these fear inducing tactics used by mods and admins because they too do not fully understand the law and have no interest in looking into it for themselves because they themselves are afraid of the all powerful capcops… Jamp, you really aren’t a very fair moderator. I see you silencing people all the time just because you don’t want to read anymore of what they say rather than taking their their viewpoint and analyzing its validity and making valid counter arguements. instead you say STFU OR BAN. which is a disgusting, oppressive, tyrannical practice.
I wont push the subject any further. but you know im right. and you know its fucked up. and you know its legal. I had to say SOMETHING.
@SakuraSoMo
That would require modifying the shaders, which is srsly risky business. I’ve never had any luck messing with them (they’re stored in compiled HLSL shaders, which means they can’t simply be modified like the sort of HLSL shaders you find for, say, emulators) and the game seems very sensitive to any replacements of individual shaders, likely due to changes in the uniform names. One wrong step and your game won’t load, or it will crash constantly, or you’ll get shoop da woop AND crash all the time.
