Agreed. It should ultimately be about what you enjoy playing. However, sometimes it’s all about having people to play with. KOFXIII having a bad netcode and just 2 people in a room, coupled with there literally being zero scene for it up here made it so it was kind of well, impossible for me to ever hope to pick it up, even though the game’s awesome. That being said, Extend has a really good netcode, and lobbies with up to 6 people (as well as say, 3v3 team battles) so it’s much easier to play and get good at with just a few people around.
Yes? No? How are you going to state that after no playtime at all?
Depends on your definition of Balance.
BB, no contest.
SFxT is big. BB is really niche, but it should still be doable to find matches online / tournaments / etc.
BB is more demanding on your execution. SFxT is basically SF4 in even easier.
Creativity in Combo-Making will never really exist? Some combos have to be better than others,
and which ones deal the most damage/stun/end in hard kd/similar is found pretty quickly;
so you will always end up just doing the best stuff? I don’t know where to find creativity there.
Depends on what your really looking for if your looking to just mainly play online the go with BB if you like games that are pretty big and have tons of people playing and you think you will have more fun that way then go with sfxt I think both games are pretty good and offer different taste tbh just try both and see what you like more, its good asking people but its better to find out yourself
You learn one character in KOF, you are going to want to learn another. And another. And another. And another.
When I picked this game up, I only wanted to use Kula/Yuri/Claw Iori. Now, my main team is Mai/Clark/Kensou, I still run Kula, Yuri and Claw Iori when I need to, and I’ve taken a shine to Raiden, Athena, Andy, Ash and Saiki.
Trust me, once you learn the game, it’s hard to stick to just one team. All the characters are so much fun to play with.
Before buying a new fighting game I always watch as many videos as I can of the game in action. If I find watching a game genuinely entertaining then 99% of the time I will enjoy playing as well. When I saw SFxT in action I was skeptical and found it quite bland and boring. I bought the game anyway and I’m just not really enjoying it all that much. When I saw BBCSEX is action I thought it was awesome so I went and bought that game too. I am loving Blazblue, I feel like it’s a good honest fighter with great depth, awesome characters, visuals and soundtrack. It also helps that there is a lot of content to play through. I would fully recommend Blazblue, that game deserves more exposure.
Wait a few days, try SkullGirls demo, then buy it if it’s fun for you.
thank you guys for all pieces of advice. No, Skullgirls and KofXIII are out of my radar, they just don’t suit me. About SFxT and BBCCE, I watched tons of videos of both games and I can’t decide, that’s why I came here to ask players who enjoy both. So far most people here seem to criticize SFxT and prefer BB.
As anyone who read any of my posts in the SFxT threads will tell you, I am hugely biased, but I’ll try to hide it by rambling.
I’ve never been much into FGs and just started when SF4 came out (< stupid 09er). After SF4 I went on GGPO to play some SF2, bought HD Remix (yeah, I know), and just generally stuck to the more conventional FGs. Then I tried some Mahvel, and while I liked it, it just felt too…retarded, in a way. Of course, that’s what makes Mahvel what it is, and that’s fine, but it wasn’t for me. Then I played GG and later Blazblue, and they turned out to be just the perfect mixture of footsies and crazy, the general feel of the game is very smooth to me somehow, and the underlying mechanics (barrier burst, instant block, etc) allow easy entry into the games, but also allow you to do some crazy shit when you get more proficient. Also the characters are all very, very different, much more so than in most other games. After playing random in SSF4(AE) for a long time, I really missed the diversity in characters, in SF games it kind of feels to me like I’m playing 5 different characters with different skins, for the most part. It really is a combination of multiple things that makes me love BlazBlue; it’s easy to play, leaves room for improvement, there’s not much bullshit in it (hi comeback-mechanics), the balance is fair and the characters are very diverse (also most stages are gorgeous and I’m told the story is pretty good for a FG, if you’re into that. Lots of easter eggs). I understand the anime-like-graphics turn some people off, I never quite got that.
Anyway, I guess my point is, just pick up BB:CT (should be basically free) and see whether or not you like the mechanics and feel of the game. Player-count wise it shouldn’t make a huge difference in Europe (but SFxT probably wins in that regard).
You see, since I don’t really know much about SFxT, I had no idea until your post Fluffy, that there WAS a comeback mechanic in that. As for Blazblue…the closest you get is a Green Burst or Gold Burst, and those take half your primers (making you closer to being Guard Crushed), can be easily baited, and you can only use both in one round if you’ve lost a round.
yeah, I’m pretty much convinced to get BB then… my main game will still be SSF4AE (too much love for Gen) but I’ll take BB as second game and try it out. I thank all of you for the precious informations!
By the way, I asked also some Japanese pro players what they think about SFxT and… well, it seems the game is not becoming any popular in Japan at the moment… at least for a pro players level
Oh, I wasn’t meaning to say there is one in SFxT (although I suppose they meant Pandora mode as one), just that there isn’t one in BB.
Just “oh shit”-buttons, as you pointed out.
Lol, I never actually thought of bursting as an “oh shit” button, but it totally is. Unless you gold burst in a combo.
BBCS:EX is GODLIKE. I love it! You’ll see a lot of Ragna though so be prepared.
BB:CSE >>>>>>>>>> SFxT…
SFxT is probably the easiest, but BB:CSE is by far just a better game. Better than most games out.
that is one of the main issues of the OP. Problem is, online games in BB:CT are very few. Most players migrated to CSE or CS2. There is a chance to find players on weekends, but for the rest of the week you will likely not find anyone available or even willing to play with you. the few players there are experienced and will not likely devote that much time with beginners. But netplay is very good. If you are in Europe, intercontinental matches are much better than in SF4 case. A nice feature is crossplay between PC and Xbox 360 users. Unfortunately the sequels did not have a PC version.
I’d prefer CSE over SFxT too. It feels much more technical. Problem is that if you make just one mistake, prepare to be annihilated by endless combos.
My suggestion was to get CT to try it out, as it would be much cheaper than buying Extend, just to discover he doesn’t like it.
CT won’t give you an accurate impression at all. Just buy Extend, It’s really not that expensive.
Extend is just the better game IMO. It has hype, Fun, Depth, Variety, Very VERY good netcode.
Plus since you main Gen, I assume you like deep characters with variety, setups, Oki, Strong offense and a plethora of Tech traps and combo routes?
Litchi all day.
man, you read my mind, Litchi is actually the character I think I’ll main…
Litchi got nerfed in Extend (She was S Tier in CS1, Possibly the best in the entire game) And A Tier in CS2. I’d say she is possibly B this time round, But she is still such a scary character.
My advice would be to just play who you like, This game is balanced as hell and you can go on mad winning streaks with absolutely anyone. If you do pick Litchi, head on over to dustloop and contribute, It’s like the center of the world for BB.
Good luck man!
Thanks! Well, when you say anyone you mean… anyone but Tsubaki? I liked her when I was watching past tournaments but I’ve been told she’s the only bottom tier this time around…
