SFxT General Discussion Thread rev.B

Well considering that the game is a mix of Street Fighter and Tekken, it shouldn’t be of surprise that you get something different out of the result. Genetics anyone?

Anyway, you don’t know, and I don’t know whether or not this will truly be a money making scheme for Capcom when it comes to the gems. DLC Gems could very well be free, or at least timed exclusive, to download. I’m excited about Synergy because it’s something I, personally, haven’t seen before. As it has been reiterated several times, there are three options with Synergy.

  1. Only allow non-DLC gems.
  2. Allow DLC gems.
  3. Don’t use gems overall.

Capcom really needs to start talking about the gem system soon. People’s hype is dying down big time over speculation and conjecture without seeing anything.

Maybe the reason they threw this out there was because they wanted to get people talking, good or bad. “Controversy Creates Cash” or something like that.

But yeah, I’m bored of speculating. I want to see this in action already.

I just want Capcom to show us the gems properly in action already allow people outside of Capcom to play with it so that we cam actually get a proper picture as to…
-How we chose the gems in multiplayer to see how quickly they could be selected in a tournament environment.
-How much the gems can differentiate from each other in terms of effect and difficulty of activation.
-How difficult is it to unlock the gems to play with.
-If we need to worry about the gems being potentially unbalanced.
-How much the DLC gems will cost.

If Capcom gives help to the community by presenting us with more information on these factors it should help to allieviate our fears on the inclusion of the gem system in Street fighter X Tekken rather than keeping silent and allowing the tension to build up in the fighting game community.
…just don’t get Ono to do it, he’ll just try and troll us.

Anything over 0 is unacceptable.
It’s one thing to sell models that take time and money to make, it’s another thing to sell me stat modifiers.

True dat.

Couldn’t agree more, and that’s my biggest concern (and has been since day one). For now I’m interested in what they do with the gems, but if they make me pay for stat modifiers… nah, I won’t be doing that. It’s a horrible idea.

I have no problem paying for costumes, characters, weapons… things that are added to the game (as long as I’m not paying to “unlock” them). Paying for something to change my stats {and abilities}? That’s the equivalent of paying for an options menu. No thanks.

Saaaaaaaaaaaaay who wants to make a bet?
I bet that the store exclusive/DLC gems can be unlocked by playing through the game, and that buying them just unlocks them from the start instead of grinding to get them.

I’m with you on that one. I’m willing to grind for gems since it’ll let me learn about the characters more in a, preferably, isolated environment.

Well I meant to post this in the “rant” thread but I stand by my observations. And it is blatantly obvious (therefore observable) that Capcom is a cash grab king in the games industry. Given that observation, my conclusion (while an opinion yes) is probably spot on.

I wouldn’t bet on it, but that’s what I hope happens.

I think they should have explained everything about the gem system at NYCC instead of the little bit that they gave us…

Capcom is probably already kicking their own asses for how badly Gems were displayed at NYCC. I’m pretty sure Capcom is making damn sure they have Gems ready to be not only shown but played to avoid anymore negative feelings or preconceived notions about this game.

They may be dumb but they have ears and they can hear everyone’s bitching. Until I see something good I’m going back to playing BF3 and Uncharted 3 multiplayer. Later.

That does make sense, considering the next showing of the game is in December and the next playable build will take months.

You’re assuming playing the game with Gems is going to be better than prognosticating about it LOL! Bet you dimes to donuts shit REALLY hits the fan once people start playing it…

I read on a site how Seth Killian felt that the limited information regarding Gems was a bad idea and that the reason they’re still not revealing much is due to schedule. EDIT: I think it was mentioned on SRK too.

There is absolutely no way that gems are nearly as bad as people have been making them out to be.

Until DLC gems come out, sure.

Capcom has developed a habit of taking decent games, lathering it with unnecessary bullshit and trolling you about it. They have turned it into an art form

omg how the hell are people still discussing the same shit…WE KNOW THAT WE DONT KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THE FUCKING GEMS. we know that capcom has to fix them…shut the fuck up cuz all you guys are doing is keep restating the same shit on every page. GEMS ARE HERE! buy the game or don’t buy it. Half of the ones complaining about how tournaments are going to be ran with the gems dont even go to tournaments. Damn we get it. capcom is screwing shit up. and they see it now. stop discussing the obvious now. Its been like 2 weeks and most of yall have not said anything different.

  1. dont like gems dont use them
  2. like gems use em
  3. mad cuz someone can block the only mixup you know with auto block gem (get ur ass in the lab)
  4. if there is dlc gems they get banned anyway duh (like its rocket science)
  5. when the system for the selection of gems gets displayed then complain (because its been stated that they have taken the time factor into consideration) and the people who are doing the most complaining are the ones who will be online trying to abuse the system the most. TRUE ONLINE WARRIORS!!!

You sir are a winner :clapdos:
