Here I was thinking I built a strong team in Bryan/Heihachi, and it turns out they have the same area of weakness. Damn.

He can, but it depends on your opponent.
I wouldnāt say they have completely the same weaknesses because Heihachi actually has reversals unlike Bryan. Theyāre the same archetype but Heihachi is definitely the stronger on the defense.
Really what you want to be doing as Heihachi is tagging him in, abusing the oki the best you can and not letting go of the pressure. If they reset you to that neutral, start of the round situation thatās where youāre at a disadvantage.
Any character that can tag him in is going to do well for a partner. Yoshimitsu has pretty much made bringing in the damage his specialty.
Oh Iām used to that role in anchor thanks to playing King for so long, though I am pretty sure King has a stronger neutral game.

His EX shoryu is just that, an ex shoryu. EX dragon upper has full body invincibility. Itās not just a get out of jail free card though, if itās blocked youāll eat a huge punish like any shoryu wakeup.
His counter throw is a good option if theyāre antsy, only the hk version has a start up the rest are 1f.
Heiās wake up game is bad without meter. Just go for throws or bait a throw tech.
Well yeah, throwing any character with a counter throw is usually the way to go on their wakeup.

His options exist however, other than roll. Itās not the main reason youād pick him over a top tier but itās not a weakness of his either.
Heihachiās only real weakness is long ranged normals combined with decent walk speed. He does most other things fine.

Heihachi has a bunch of great wakeup options not just ex dp+k
While his walk is slow, he has a decent dash and his jump can be hard to deal with when used effectively, though trying to zone him is still a good option, just donāt assume its as Derp as zoning Asuka (Asuka wishes she had any of Heiās footsie normals)
Heihachi Oki is as good if not better than Asukaās
