One of them has to work differently. Asuka is a rushdown charachter ten times more scary than nina when she on your face.
Counter as free random move, overhead confirmable without CH, unblockable thow 2x most fast, safe special cheap on block, high - low mixup easly confirmable without hard knockdown setup, special charge dash cancel more effective, cr hp crumple on CH etc … You can not compare the two characters except for damage that makes no sense lol
Asuka’s overhead is unsafe on block, while Nina’s is at like -2 from point blank? Asuka’s f. Hk overhead may be -2 on block, but it’s slightly easier to defend yourself against it, if you anticipate it (24 frames start up). Nina has an unblockable command throw as well. I have yet to neutral jump it or whatever you can do to escape it… always catches me off guard.
But if I had to choose I would prefer Nina pressure, since you can down-back most of the time, if she doesn’t have a CH store or meter for tag cancel, I see your point there.
I’m fine with taking losses. However… When you can’t finish the job it makes you look like a coward. If the clock just so happens to run out when two people are going at it, that’s ok since neither wanted to back down. Thats my belief. Having said, I will create breathing space if needed. But don’t expect me to stay out for long.
I swear I will slap you on sight, if I see you rushing in with a slight life lead during the last 5 seconds of evo grand finals and losing because of that!
Only the ex version of nina’s command grab is truly unblockable. You crouch I think to get around the normal version. If not crouching thrn its standing lol.
yes that’s what I say the two characters are not comparable. I’m pretty well placed to know that I play asuka from day 1 of the game and nina from day 7 ^^ .
Otherwise nina unblockable has 28frames of startup (10 for asuka’s) so if you can anticipate asuka f hk you can do the same for nina’s ex command grab. Like i said there are very different character.
edit: Asuka isn’t bad at all. In vanilla sure, but not now.

I’m agree but there is a lot of character that can do the same (ogre, abel, christie, bob…) Each with their specificities of course.
I think nina is top 5 in this game but I really think she has nothing dumb to abuse compared to other top like jin’s stance mp, law ex ffr or chun li normals and boost for example or even low tiers like sakura’s air tatsu.
The fact that you can cancel into her ex command grab throws me off. I guess I don’t see it that often and when it hits me I’m like “geez I forgot about that!”
Well I think ill need more then a slap if it comes to that. Actually, I think I need good shakedown. My mind isn’t all here right now. I’m taking a 2 week break on vacation…perhaps its what I need.

Anybody ever went from a PS3 pad to a Xbox pad? I would like to get an idea of how long it will take me to adjust to the goddamned diagonals. I have absolute zero confidence in my blocking on Xbox. I think I’m holding downback, but in fact I’m just holding down and get blown up by everything as a result. Have to abandon a bunch of tools too (Chun’s df lk lol, walk up block… patience… :D). But I’m pretty excited by all the new players, and the fact that my first two games were against a A+ and Grandmaster. On PSN you would be lucky to find a B+ in Europe, so I expect ranking up to go a lot faster here.
Characters with Command grabs scare me in general. But Gief has a lot of tools to deal with other characters Armor move to deal with projectiles and really effective pokes. And lariat TC into damage is a pretty good AA that discourages jump ins.
I saved em all in my battle folder as FSE(number) I excluded the ones of me vs kayriss 1v1. But those are still under my recent matches. But if you wanna see shaky iphone camera quality match I can put that up on youtube. Also be warned these matches bad (I ain’t even good mang).
