SFxT General Discussion #4 - Witty title

EX handstand>front stinger after boost chain on block? I might actually try that!

Is ex handstand into ex front stinger from boost chain a TBS?

I donā€™t believe so. You can combo far hp boost into EX Double Arm Stinger, which is 25 frame start-up. So it has at least 25 frames of hitstun. The normal standing hp has 12 fewer frames of blockstun compared to itā€™s hitstun (+4 on hit, -8 on block), and since boost versions of moves generally have the same hitstun/blockstun as their normal counterparts (just more recovery), that means that the boost version of st.hp has 13 frames of blockstun on the 2nd hit. EX Handstand to front stinger is 22 frames total (4 frames for EX Handstand, 18 for Front Stinger).

TL;DR: It isnā€™t a true blockstring.

However, you can mix it up with EX Double Arm Stinger, which makes most reversals whiff and is safe(ish) on block, or EX CADC backwards to bait certain reversals (or depending on the reversal, EX Charge Attack and just sit there). You could even go into EX Twister Sweep for that trick high/low mix-up, but thatā€™s more of a gimmick than anything.

She has lotsa options. :3

This actually happens to me quite a bit. Funny thing is since it normally Far Mk that comes out, you can probably just go right into F.Mk-Mk tekken chain. Iā€™m not that great at actually confirming it since Iā€™m not expecting it half the time.

How is that a gimmick?

Anyway, doesnā€™t a launcher like beat all those options?

Hmmā€¦interesting. So you can essentially OS the tekken chains. Lemme see hereā€¦

ā€¦okay, I got it. You can do cr.lp, and press mk mk d + hk in (relatively) fast succession. If done right, from the farther distances youā€™ll get cr.lp to her far mk > mk tekken chain, and wonā€™t boost to cr.hk. If you do it closer, youā€™ll get the other tekken chain (the one youā€™d expect) and itā€™ll go right into the cr.hk part of the tekken chain. Additionally, you can input hcb + p as well as the input for her variations on the closer tekken chain; if you time it right youā€™ll get your +2 on block overhead from the far mk > mk chain, if youā€™re in the other chain nothing will happen since you canā€™t boost out of it and there arenā€™t any punch follow-ups during it, itā€™ll only go with the kicks you input.

Yeah, raw launch beats all of her overheads from handstand (all of handstand options in general) as well as double arm stinger. However, you can cancel EX Double Arm Stinger into her hand stand; since she moves so far back with the start-up of the overhead, raw launchers and pretty much any reversal will whiff completely. You could also EX CADC back, but the start-up of the overhead is what most people will react to if they want to raw launch/reversal it. This also applies to her normal Double Arm Stingers, if youā€™re going to try to pressure with them, since they are +2 on block (MP and HP anyway) but can be raw launched.

And I say itā€™s a gimmick because while itā€™s a tricky mix-up, it doesnā€™t lead into anything and is STUPIDLY unsafe on block (-12 for the low options, -21 for the overhead). It has itā€™s uses but itā€™s not really something to rely on imo, if they block it correctly youā€™re dead. And Christie doesnā€™t exactly have the best wake-up options; EX Double Arm Stinger is okay but loses to throws and is 25 frame start-up. Though it does have 18 strike and projectile invincible frames which is niceā€¦

Cā€™mon guys, Poison is good. You can raw tag after a f.throw and mk.KBG catch cross ups (it only does one hit but you can still tag cancel it).
She lacks damage but itā€™s great when your opponent is in the corner with s.mp, cadc, hp/ex fireball and throws. Iā€™ve been playing less Asuka and more Poison lately.

I have something similar with Juri except itā€™s slightly less riskier option. Basically when you have a either a M/H fuhajin stored and your opponent is blocking and crouched you can opt to fire off your M/H fuhajins to create the illusion that youā€™re continuing your BS with a L fuhajin into a frame trap.

this serves two purposes one creating the illusion that they have to block longer. The other is if they stand up and attempt to attack that way they get bopped and you can continue with a combo.

There is a flaw to this howeverā€¦if you cancel into a M/H fuhajin while your opponent is crouched there is a 17frame gap in which they can attack. It can be beaten with mashing easily. The trick is thoughā€¦should you attack after a blocked normal cancelable into a Fuhajin? Being creative here helps.

Christie has one of the most godlike hit-confirms off a basic standing fierce, so fishing with boost chains and using meter to escape punishment seems like a waste to meā€¦

Iā€™d save that meter for damage and defenseā€¦

Depends on the situation. Obviously, Iā€™m not gonna boost to st.hp and burn meter there every chance I get. This is just for those situations where when Iā€™m playing footsies with cr.mp (with itā€™s amazing range) and boost to cr.hp and the cr.mp is blocked. Which isnā€™t that often. Doesnā€™t hurt to discuss possible options after that. :3

Her standing fierce is a nice confirm in itself but it doesnā€™t exactly have cr.mp range.

Yea the main thing you guys werenā€™t punishing was far MP boost. Itā€™s not terrible since its +1 on block un boosted, but its still pretty negative. Just sucks since Blankaā€™s confirms outside of point blank are shiity. Weird to come from Bob who has relatively safe confirms from wellā€¦any range.

I try not use any horiball outside of LP version at just about whiff range though, which now seems pretty punishable after playing more matches

I love that he actually has the fastest jump next to Bobs neutral jump

St.lk > mk > mk tekken chain is great. And her cr.mk is better than cr.mp imo.

I meant more in ways to tag out {on hit} rather than raw tag. But that free raw tag is very, very nice. When I play Poison x Juri, 80% of my throws suddenly mean I can get out without consequence.

Nothing to sneeze at.

I didnā€™t know about the mk KBG hitting crossups though. That is a very nice thing to know. :-o

In the corner, Poison x Nina is siiiiiiiiick. <3

Question:

How do you actually do jab>electric? Like mechanically.

Itā€™s actually a really similar timing to OSes in this game. So itā€™s really helpful to get down in general, not just for blanka. For jab xx HP elec I buffer/piano [hp,mp,lp] then the st.LP > HP electricity.

So if youā€™re doing it without a jump in and you want to do it standing ~ for example cr.LK, st.LP xx HP elec:

Cr.LK (wait for boost timing to go away), buffer [hp,mp,st.LP] xx [lp,hp] HP electricity.

If any of that notation makes sense lol.

Rog can connect at least three close fierce punches back to back in a corner juggle. I didnā€™t manage to connect a fourth one or a dash punch.
But when the tag canceled special launches high enough you can do:

J. Hp , cl. Hp , cl. Hp , lp dash straight

Well thatā€™s the best I could manage.
One day I will sit down and finish the written breakdownā€¦

Only 4000? Get on my levelā€¦ :open_mouth:

I just got inspired indirectly by thancruz hilariousness to create a SFxT themed t-shirt. By giving a shoutout to one of his classic lines

Inspired by LordWilliam1234ā€™s Lei x Xiaoyu lab video, I thought I should make a combo video involving those two being a player maining the two. I made a short, simple video just showing some of the combos those two have. I have no video editing skill, so no BGMs and stuff; just game sounds. If this video makes some1 feel like picking these two up Iā€™ll be happy.
