SFxT General Discussion #4 - Witty title

I tried playing AE online after Tekken Tag 2 and SFxT online. It wasn’t fun. I’ve no idea how I managed that for two years.

Sfxt defense article: 130+ comments

Dead game guys!

Damn at this rate, we’ll be seeing comments in the future like:

‘There’s two people attacking me at once! What kind of nonsense is this?’

Ahhh, that probably explains why some of those Akuma counter hit links work… like cr.:lk: > st./cr.:hp: or cr.:mp: > far st.:hk: or cl st.:mp: > far st.:hp:.

These Eventhubs comments are Thancruz mode material

Edit: The next person to say “this game is fun to play but horrible to watch” I swear on Juri’s eye…

Some of the highlight comments from that SF X TK article, if people don’t want to actually look at the comments section themselves.

Should be good for a few laughs:

[details=Spoiler]Enough of these articles with players trying to defend SFxT. If you want to play it no ones stopping you and if you don’t oh well no big deal.

We all know the game suck anyway

Reasons why I don’t play:

  1. I don’t like the repetitiveness of the long combos. I don’t play Tekken, but are the combos really that long? From what I’ve seen I didn’t think they were.

  2. The game visually is quite disgusting.

  3. The OST is quite disgusting.

  4. I dislike the choice of cast for Street Fighter, it’s just SFIV with a couple of extra…

  5. Copy and Pasted models from SFIV.

This alone is already very bad… The only thing I like is how the game is quite footsy heavy.

But is a good game for my little cousin to play around and button smash in my opinion.

sfxt is boring as hell. even with the update its still boring. be honest ppl, y’all know the main reason y y’all dont play this game its boring.

The real reason I feel SFxT isn’t as popular as it should’ve been us it felt rushed. You have this amazing roster but only a certain amount if characters were worth using talk about poor balance. Version 2013 should’ve been what we got in the beginning and add to that all the bad press CAPCOM got with the whole DLC debacle.

It’s stupid to blame the community for not accepting SFxT like some would have liked. If anyone is to blame here its CAPCOM because the game had a lot of potential especially with its roster but CAPCOM f***** up with the reasons I mentioned.

Oh and lol @ all the people who think SFxt takes more skill than AE. They are both about equal with one another. Don’t assume Sfxt takes more skill just because of “footsies” or whatever haha.

Game sucks as a serious fighter. Fun as a time waster. 12hit combos do 10% lol awesome.

People actually think SFXT online is better then SSF4 lol wtf

I bought the game on launch
Fully completed it in a week(all achievements and unlockables)
Play with every characters (including the disk locked characters on a modded console)
Watched tournaments
and even ATTENDED a TOURNAMENT myself
with an overall playtime of around 100 hours in a month or so
Plus, looked at this game constructively without mindlessly hating/fanboying and seeing what the game can offer plus pros and cons…

…and I can safely say this game is fackin’ terrible and Capcom should be ashamed they even bothered to release it. It’s one of the biggest disappointment (should’ve been good) games of this generation. So no CD Jr, speak for yourself.

People like CD Jr need to get with the ‘FACT’ that company who made this game is Capcom. Capcom have made incredible games(not just fighting games) like Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Asuras Wrath, Dragons Dogma, Remember Me(Three new well received IPs) etc etc and when you release a game amongst the vast library of generally top quality games from a publisher and see that there is one that stands out, then you have to admit that company has effed up. If others like the game, then fine. Nothing wrong with that.
But to me:
It’s Blanka poo.

i stopped playing the game because of tekken cast air crush and guy elbow not having a air hitbox the latter being particularly annoying

sfxt key points:

crap graphics, recycled sf characters from sf4
crap music
stupid gem system
stupid dlc characters on disc system
worst than ssf4 netcode, especially on pc
horrible chain combo system
horrible damage scaling system
horrible wake up system
horrible character balance
boring as crap to watch
boring as crap to play
was released in an unfinished, buggy and unpolished state
pandora is still garbage

Did I leave anything out?

Nope. I can actually provide video evidence. If you go to YouTube and search: Mariotaz SFxT:
Videos on getting achievements.
Completing the trials(within 3 days of launch)
Tutorials for trials(The first hour I made one for Bison)
Combo videos
And around 100(ish) online matches(and got to rank B within a week).
As well as attending the Capcom fight club months before release.
I have a local scene where I live so playing offline isn’t a problem and thus how I was able to get all the 300(special finishes).

I hate bandwagoning also, but I’m also one of the more levelled headed type of people who will look at what a game can offer, and SFxT (in my opinion) is complete crap. It’s an insult to the gaming industry. The cheap-arse gems, the DLC, glitches, the mechanics(debatable), the timeouts, comeback factors and more. I hate SFxT and I love the Tekken series, MORE than Street Fighter and this insulted both player-bases.

But we have people like CD Jr and those in the eventhubs comment section who think that everyone bandwagons and that their precious games are exempt from criticism as it must just be mindless haters. Nope.

As I said before, when a company like Capcom can poo out quality game after quality game on a yearly basis and then have this one game with a huge backlash, then you have to admit it was a failure. It happens.
Again, if people like the game, they obviously see something in it I don’t. I gave it fair try(and again after the update) and it didn’t appeal to me(and everyone else) at all.

#79 (the comment listing everything “wrong” with SF X TK above)

other than the gem system comment, everything you said was right on point xD

but I’ll like to add that the ground bouncing creates infinites and causes the player being hit to sit through most of the game instead of actually being able to play.

Nobody Jr wants everyone to play SFxTK because it’s the only game he manages to win some matches… but if everyone plays it, he will never win again. Poor Bum.

He likes SFxT because a whiffed normal can be punished… i suppose that is a feature unique to SFxT.

Only reason i don’t care for the game anymore is because of the damage and time spent punishing, the better player will win by a landslide while the loser has to be demoralised by extremely long, slow and inescapable combos.
SF doesn’t have lots of varied interesting attacks, just very specific ones which can be used quickly and intelligently, for a fast paced tight game like sf3/4 that’s fine but it takes a deeper game to make a long combo interesting.

Gems+Pandora+Everything being recycled from SF4= why we dont play SFxTk.

oh yeah, and the ridiculous damage scaling and the oppressive hitstop. the only reason “pro” players play it is because of the free money due to low competition.

EDIT: and the whole “DLC” BS.

Pros enjoy SFxT because it’s extra money at tournaments. That’s it.

I don’t play or support SFxT because this game is the prime example of screwing over your fanbase by Capcom. When I made my purchase of this game I was under the impression that it was complete. Only a few weeks later I realized, along with everyone else, that nearly 50% of this game is locked & only accessible via paid DLC later. 12 entire, complete characters locked, every single costume locked, all colors locked, all gems locked, gem slots locked.

If they spent less time locking half the content & more time actually balancing the game & improving the netcode then it could have been a good game.

I grew tired of the few extremely high tier characters rendering the rest of the cast completely pointless to use. Playing against the same characters, who were customized to be glowing colors beyond recognition, on laggy online matches where they were using auto-block/auto-throw gems & other gems that were better versions of mine except they paid actual money to get them.

The patch was too little too late, at least for me. I felt that it was a sorry excuse to try & get attention to the game after the giant sh!tstorm that caused it to nearly die out only 6 months after it’s release.

I bought the game, I played it enough to form my own opinion on it. Online, offline I personally did not enjoy the game. If you do that’s fine. Just because a “pro” enjoys the game doesn’t mean I have to.

SFxTK was a completely garbage game on release that bought its way into Evolution. Complete. Garbage. It’s not the community’s fault that SFxTK didn’t succeed, it’s Capcom’s fault for making a garbage game to milk SFIV’s success. I don’t care how much better it is now, it’s not popular because Capcom pissed the community off. They made their bed and now they can lie in it.

The game is bad and I don’t want capcom wasting anymoe time on it. I think most people hate it rob because ITS A BAD GAME PERIOD.

CD Jr. confirmed for fraud

Well the ironic part is the constant topics regarding not playing it, why and how theres a “pro” telling you that you should. Isn’t that the same situation as described in the interview? Community says it sucks, people listened. Pro claims its good, please listen please. Its been beaten to death, the fgc is just sheepish bums. Though that game solidly sucks ass, maybe if it came out before Street Fighter 4 it wouldnt of looked so bad. The game is clunky, animations are poor, the colors are abnoxious, the characters suck. The combos are slooooooow the frames are slooooooooooow. The juggles are laughably bad looking, the sound effects are sorry as hell. The footsies they claim were implemented in 2013’s patch. Are nothing more then boost combo fishing just not as safe as they were prior. Its a game that caters to jumping around like a dickhead, fishing for lights to boost tags. Highest level of play is barely above that…barely. Give it up already, Street Fighter 4 craps on this game in every single way. NRS could of put their name on SFxT instead of Capcom and you wouldn’t of known the difference (except the females dont have male parts).

All of the SFxT pushing, the Esports, begging for hand outs lately is really making people look desperate.

This game is basically Street Fighter gone wannabe Anime fighter. It failed badly and should of never tried. All of Cdjr’s points are claiming fame to things other games do way better then this one. Plus when the hell did Cdjr get good at anything? Playing broken ass NRS top tiers and having poor fundamentals = you have a valid argument regarding whats a good Capcom game and what isnt?

If less and less people are playing it, how about let it die already?

It’s not like some people cannot keep playing the damn thing with their friends and organizing small or side tournaments for it. Hell, people still plays a lot of “dead” games and that’s fine.

Just dont’t expect big coverage for a game that almost nobody wanna play, that’s it.

SFXT is straight ass.
Graphics are sh^ty!!
Gems i never use, which i see pointless in this game.
pandora is garbage.
damage scaling is garbage.
Sf cast are slow as hell, “example” Why the hell is ken sooooo slow!! & every other character, links are slow as hell which i find ridiculous.
I feel this games easy, you can hit confirm into an alpha tag so easily from a jab etc.
Online is garbage.
Think about it there so many grand masters on SFXT, where are they on SSFIV… The games easy.
I feel this game requires not to much skill to play.
These are the reasons i stopped playing it.

The game is garbage! Deal with it and get over it.

the game looks ugly and the music sucks, that’s why i don’t play it.[/details]

My favorites are the ones that are saying that the only reason pro players play this game is because of easy money at tourneys. They can’t seem to accept the fact that many of these players actually LIKE playing the game. A top player enjoys SF X TK? IMPOSSIBRU GAME IS BAD DEAD GAME NOBODY PLAYS IT IT SUX HE MUST BE IN IT FOR THE MONEYZ

Doesn’t sfxt have the same scaling system as sf4?? And the only “sfxt pushing” is articles like these. And people wanna talk about reptitive combos? How long has wolverine, sent, haggar, doom, wesker, vergil and zero players been doing the same combos? Cammy players jab jab strong spiral arrow into unblockable vortexes, akuma players jab jab strong lk tatsu fierce DP.lets not talk about same combos over and over now.

facepalm people really are dense…dmg scaling…slow, wake up system. And then throw in “Oh I did everything, did a tourney, watched a tourney…” did you give reasons on the mechcanics? Outside of launchers, SWC’s, CC’s, CA’s. CAss, accel jumps, rolls stripe those away and you have sf4 with tekken chars thrown in.

I find myself doing inefficient combos in SSF4AE just to keep it interesting… One of the main reasons I play Evil Ryu is so I can style on people with long combos.

And I think arguments about combos being boring in SFXT are unfounded anyway… Tag combos mean just about every player has his/her own BnB combos that vary a bit from everyone else’s.

Yep, it works EXACTLY the same:

Each move performed in a combo adds one level to damage scaling. Scaling goes as follows:

1 move: 100%

2 moves: 100%

3 moves: 80%

4 moves: 70%

5 moves: 60%

6 moves: 50%

7 moves: 40%

8 moves: 30%

9 moves: 20%

10+ moves: 10%

The only difference is that boost chains have their own “scaling,” in the sense that their damage output is lower than doing things with links.

Precisely. BC’s already get scaled to I think it was 80 right off the bat then normal scaling kicks in. Same with launchers. Anything boosted into a launcher is auto half on the launcher then normal scaling comes in. Kinda like how the health scaling is in SF4.

Tibit for BC’s. One of the highest dmg you can do from L,L,LMHL, L,L Ca is 349…349 dmg…for 3 bars…off a BC. You can get slightly higher you can’t even break 400 I don’t think.

The only thing I hate about sfxt is the playerbase. It’s becoming a waste of time to open a lobby and there are too many players that want points without risk (e.g. they will dodge you or won’t even bother leaving). Why can’t all the good players play endless? All I wanted was to test my Elena/Guile tech >_>

Even went back to AE… Rog players throwing random dash punches, Guy sliding/wheel kicking and Cammys throwing out random spiral arrows. They all ate a Corkscrew cross (only Cammy was stupid enough to jump in on me when I had ultra ready).

Dont worry rcion, I’ll be getting my xbox set up sooner or later and then you can test all the tech you want vs me

Not that a single player can change this, but it would be awesome to get some games against your footsie teams.

Dope avatar btw.

Online play in a nutshell. And honestly its turning into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I can’t stand playing online much anymore, as I crave offline competition for any number of reasons. But then by not playing online, that’s one less person for others to play, and less experience for me. Then you get the: “there’s no one online” follow-up…

I don’t even know anymore.

Right now I’m focusing on being a lab rat because I’m actually getting stressed trying to figure out what the hell I can do to help the game. I have video ideas I need to finish but life is a lil bit aggravating right now, too much personal shit to take care of and my temper has become… really unstable lately. Like, “hating fighting games” unstable

I will do 2-player lobbies at MOST for a while.

I’m not giving up but it just feels like I’m banging my head against a brick wall mach speed sometimes. I’m really, really grateful that I have access to a strong scene here for SFxT, but I would LOVE to see that more everywhere, and that won’t happen until more of these online warrior buck-up and go local, and put the game out there…

…and that’s IF their scene will even accept their attempt to start something up.

Also, we could really, really use at LEAST a basic page where all that info from the compendium is placed for super-easy access. I’m not even talking forums (yet), just a basic-ass page with links to characters or something.

Well…thigns DO happen so…I just wanna go to a tourney scene for once…but I got none near me. Only thing I can hopefully look forward too is EVO.

@Rc_ON don’t worry man, I will jump on SFxT one of these days…having so much fun with TTT2 at the moment (I’m not killing the game, I swear I’m not!)

You just described every online fighting game ever.

I feel ya’. Traveling is the main issue for me too, even with a strong local scene. I simply cannot travel right now, probably not for a good minute. What I really mean by us showing up, is that with our main players being so widespread, SURELY there has to be some that are near each of these tourneys coming up that could make it? Or like Next Level and such… is there really zero interest in the game?

That’s where my frustration is. I actually tend to see a lot of players pop up online, but that’s not translating into people going to locals or majors. If AZ gets another major for example I’ll be all over it.

Then again you also get cases like LordWilliam where he did what he could and… there just was nothing there.

I really do enjoy this game, a lot. Like my favorite fighter since T5. I’d just like to see it at least survive. I don’t care if it hits AE numbers or gets main stream time. I’d also like to see more tech out there actually being used, but that also means US doing better at tourneys, too.

You’re asking for a miracle.
