SFxT General Discussion #4 - Witty title

The throw has crazy range. Easily catches rolls on reaction can go into hunting stance and then grab on reaction to a roll and the range of the grab is so crazy that Balrog’s headbutts (EX as well), would completely whiff while grabbing and Kuma can punish for free. I’ve made a balrog player rage quit because his headbutt whiffed through the grab 2-3 times. Kuma’s hurtbox is really deceiving

Raw launch is a good option. Can tech it as well, but the scary thing of course is Kuma making you think he’s going to throw you and then completely baiting you into a shit load of damage and back in the bear vortex.

He also has a traditional command grab that throws you backwards. It’s even possible to do specials not normally possible in hunting stance by jump canceling/tiger kneeing the move. Example being EX Megaton Claw, haven’t tried the command grab but I heard it’s possible.

Yeah I don’t know. Even with the replay I’m not sure how to judge some of the stuff that happens online. Try recreate it in the lab maybe?

It isn’t awful, but it isn’t worth it either. You barely get any benefits at least monetarily , and it’s incredibly difficult to find a job. At least that was the case anecdotally. My uncle went to Iraq for 4 years and when he came back he couldn’t find a job anywhere even Target and Walmart wouldn’t hire him. Eventually he went filed for unemployment benefits, until he opened his own car wash business. Now he’s doing pretty okay for himself but I can’t imagine sacrificing so much time and risking bodily harm yet no one hiring you.

But maybe it’s just a side effect of the current economic condition.

Yeah I will try. A while ago I took Hwo to the lab and he has the thing going on with his st. mp or hp (I don’t remember). It’s possible to set it up in the corner, but only if your opponent happens to be holding back, since that would make him roll towards the corner.
It’s basically a setup that prevents you from escaping and if you are crazy enough to roll towards the corner, you will look like Lars in the vid. I recreated it twice only, so I have no freaking clue how to do it consistently.

True, but going for another job after iraq…I would have just stayed,in the military. But you are right. Looking for a job outside the military is tough. Especially if you were an infantry soldier. Where your line of work isn’t pushing paper.

Nina st. MP is a really good button for creating frame traps, if you hit it meatily you get a fair bit off it, I’m not used to seeing it stuff things randomly though. Usually it’s Nina cr. HP that has funny interactions because of how good of an anti - air it is and it kind of slides her forward and comes out really quickly.

But her hit box is pretty close to her body. Also if you stand a like 1.5 training room squares from Lars and try to st.mp it it will stuff it and you should get similar results.

Edit: Just tried it 10 times and got it to happen 4 times. It’s difficult to do though. So I’m not sure if that was a set up or he did it unintentionally.

Double edit: Just tried with st.lp got it to work once out of 2 attempts. That’s it for now my eyes burn I need to wash my face and do my morning routine. Morning routine done.

Cr.HP does this as well for Nina.

If you use a special move it doesn’t autotrack. But you can do her usual st.mpx2 combo just as easily. Since he didn’t I’m guessing it wasn’t a set up

Also Kuma’s EX rolling bear grab, can also grab low. So yeah don’t crouch please if you see a super saiyan ass bear rolling your way.

actually about that…

Straight after geyser ground bounce dash forward, jump over them and then jump back to the original side with j. mk. It causes them to roll the wrong way unless they block the cross up. If you delay it slightly and take a step back you’re in a position to throw the roll or land in front.

It’s a pretty ambiguous and slightly ridiculous safejump set up I made. I’ve tried to teach it to a couple of people.

Except for being able to charge a counter hit after ivory cutter so that her safe overhead with a mile range groundbounces then backdashing in time to throw a roll? Nope.

I would rather eat a throw than a CH ivory cutter. Now you know Nina players. I will always roll, if you use her CH setup…

I don’t think I’ve been ever thrown out of a EX rolling bear grab or the regular one if it didn’t whiff and I committed to the throw. If I did raw rolls then yeah I do get thrown occasionally lol

Interestingly enough I’ve rolling bear grabbed a Yoshimitsu while his windmill was active from the front, and other times i’d get bopped by it. Possibly positioning dependent i don’t know lol

Honestly I’d just jump back or neutral jump.

CH ivory cutter is so good man. If you space it so that only her foot hits not her hand you get hp skullsplitter, cr. fierce xx hk geyser, ivory cutter and you can then go and tag out from there.

That’s the kind of range I like to sit at, outside of your normals so I can tag you with that and with sweep or neutral jump roundhouse with those huge limbs of hers.

I’m really not a rushdown player, I have a very defensive / footsie playstyle. Comes from ST Guile and turtlefest 3S.

Yea luckily lol. If you want an anti roll in the loosest sense you can

(in corner) ivory cutter ender> Hold uf > Press cr.LP as soon as you land> jf.mk (4/5 frame safe jump if the don’t roll)> [OS EX Backhand if they do roll - buffer lk Geyser just in case they jump] which makes a lot of non shoryu dps whiff including Sagat MP Tiger Uppercut (not lp)

Edit: ^ 4 frame safe jump if you actually have timing skillz unlike me =(

If you want I have ambiguous cross ups off of Ivory cutter if they roll outside of corner: Ivory cutter (ender)> st.mp (whiff), lp>mp (whiff chain) jump back HP.

If someone who has better execution that me could test if it’s possible to TC backhand slaps I’d be so happy. In cross assault your partner can walk right through your opponent while she does that. So if you could can TC same deal as EX Rhino except far more executional heavy (kinda impractical) but can be done midscreen for 1 meter instead of 2. If it can’t then CA only lol.

Not that we need more Nina tech, but good stuff guys.

Also Kuma can get a side switch mixup in the corner with cr. mp. I couldn’t get highly ambiguous results though. :frowning:

I think that was a mistake lol since he didn’t even use her usual BnB, but there are a few similar setups off of backthrow if you roll towards her. Depending on the set up ex mallet would be the easiest (then MP, HP then LP). But it is pretty low reward outside of MP mallet, which gives you a her usual combo and EX (but it’s a 1 meter gambit).

Didn’t know you could do it off of scratch wheel though.
