SFxT General Discussion #4 - Witty title

What do you guys think about Alisa/Ken? I was using Alisa/Lili, but I felt like that team was too weak on wake up and got pressured to easy. I like Ken’s neutral compared to Lili’s. I never got a hang of Lili’s mix ups either. Lol

im getting old…

any team with alisa is good, but who cares about wake up? just play your best, or favorite characters. if you care so much for wake up use law…i use sakura and cody who have some of the shittiest reversals in the game.

fuck waking up, i just block and tech… its a universal defense option, that nobody uses.

Wow, I was on fire yesterday!

Not only did I win my first tournament in KOFXIII, but I got my first hate mail in SFxT! I’ve truly arrived.

not a link

Nobody can block everything. If I could I would go win EVO Lol

Eventually everybody pushes a button and gets hit.

You get players like me who know that and will just uppercut every once in a while expecting it.

Then you get players who do nothing but uppercut from the word go until you prove you’re not willing to push buttons.

I just do (img)pictureurlhere(/img), except instead of ‘(’ and ‘)’, I use brackets. (The symbols next to the P key)

Okay, so I am now set on becoming an official Guy player in this game. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to really figure out too much about him following v.2013. A few questions just to get the ball rolling:

  • How good is Guy in this particular game?
  • Is he still to be utilized as a quick mix-up character focused on rushdown and baiting out moves to punish?
  • Given his strengths, what type of characters would you say he pairs well with and where should he be played?

Good to know the Asuka salt is a common reaction.

" why play sakura, when you can play neeners? Lol derp. " Is that the typical generic advice you get from the stereotypical A Rank?

  1. Guy is really good in this game

  2. I think so, that’s how I would play him tbh

  3. You can put him on point and use someone like Asuka

Keep in mind I’m no Guy expert but this is from using him every now and then

I like nina as a character but her gameplan is eh. Not cool. Asuka really gets people salty? Damn…oh well.

It’s because of them sexy mixups

  1. While not living up to the early top tier speculation some people had for him when 2013 launched, he’s nonetheless a very strong character.

  2. Don’t know about baiting moves so much but he definitely has an array of strong mixups that he utilizes as a core gameplan, generally coming off his MPxxHP Target Combo which is bonkers in this game. Includes a strong normal overhead, run shenanigans (ex stop has extra armor), CADC throw, elbow frame traps, and of course flip and bushin chain throw into the corner resets that I believe he has in SFIV.

  3. I have both played and seen him played in both positions. It depends a lot on the second character you choose, and whether you want Guy on point for his mobility, fair neutral game, and multitude of meterless ways to tag or to start up close with lots of meter where he can begin his mixups immediately and do good damage.
Just be aware that Guy’s launcher is much lower than the rest of the cast, and some characters cannot get their optimal combos off it.

I’d look at the Guy forums for more specifics. It has not been updated for a while but it has some really good info on playing 2013 Guy nonetheless.

they say to use a better character…

I’ve never been able to drop characters I was passionate about, even if they were the worst characters in the game. I’ve always felt that if I’m playing characters I don’t like, then it stops being fun and just becomes routine.

because there so godamn many, and 80% of them play the same way… you can tag after her double ground slam thing and do another combo and mix-up, but nobody wants to be original.
