SFxT General Discussion #3 - Still Alive

Push them harder.

I’m actually being serious, Lars is all about his normals, his specials are iffy. But almost every button you hit confirms into another button, and the have great hitboxes/frame advantage.

I also agree that the SFxT community is absolutely my favorite I have been in. The local SC2 crew in lakewood colorado comes in a close second. But outside that? I think I hate most FGC players. I will never claim to be “pro” at marvel. I just have a love for a few marvel characters. So when I would go into the arcade and pick my Cammy,Ironman, Psylocke team I was there to have fun. I would have people gambit glitch me as soon as the match starts, or see my characters and pick some troll characters. Then when I would win, immediately switch to MSS or MSP (if they wanted to rub psylocke in my face) and procede to just be a complete ass. If I asked them to pick those characters again so I could figure out what they were doing they would walk off having “proved” they are better.

The DoA community? DoA is my favorite 3d fighter. I know its not a well liked game but their own community is part of that reason. Outside of the whole “e-sports” rigged invitationals the players themselves are dicks for the most part. Oh and they also complain about not being accepted by the FGC while simultaneously refuse to support their own game. SF community? Do a single Wake up ultra and you are condemned as trash. Oh im sorry you used the same move on my wake up the last two times and I called you on it. I am trash.

Phew, bit of a rant there. Must have had that on my chest for a while. TLDR though. <3 you guys even when you perfect my ass to the curb.

My turtling and lameness is condemned in every single fighter I have ever played. I don’t know where you get this idea that the SFxT is any different. At least the outsider complex of the SFxT community forces its players to being more tolerant since losing a member in this community hurts more than say…SFIV or Tekken? yup…

Also people that eat wake up ultras are fucking scrubs. If they have a predictable offense or simply can’t bait them out they will get hit by them. I agree I do get hit by them sometimes since once you are conditioned by the community not to do them (especially amongst high level players) you don’t expect them or even think about them.

Obviously, they do more damage that way… Duh…

Cr. :mp: pretty good normal, Cr. :mk: also pretty good. Cr. :lk: Links into Cr. :lp: for your basic hit confirm. People like Poking with Far :hk: , Personally I think both his standing :mk: are good. his command normal is pretty spiffy too just don’t abuse it but fun to mix it up with his jaguar kick mix-ups…ya those are fun.

@ EMR If I go play MVC3 right now and play morrigan keep away I will have so many plug pulls it isn’t even funny. If I go play a keep away clock abuse team on SFxT i MIGHT get a message after the game. We as a community have already had to deal with months of people playing keepaway with full defensive gems and trying to run out the clock. We have grown accustomed to auto block pissing us off and bright neon skinned skinned characters hurting our eyes. SFxT has had the things that make people rage in it all along but we are still here. Maybe it is like you said and people are holding themselves back for fear of pushing away the remaining members of our community. Or maybe we are all masochists. As part of the Juri Army i know which one i am.

Yeeeup. We of the Juri Han Dynasty are indeed… Masochists. :-p

Make friends with Cr.Mp and Cr.Mk firstly. Learn to link into Cr.Hp off of his Cr.Lk and Cr.Lp. (You can confirm that combo, IE, Cr.Lp, Cr.Lk, Cr.Jp). Check the Lars sub forum. It looks dead, but there’s a plethora of information out there. His F+MK hit’s mid and it can beat things like Shoto Cr.Mk, but it loses to things like Shoto Cr.Mp and St Medium attacks. Try not to use St.Hk too much, it’s a decent poke but if you’re opponent predicts or reacts to you using it…basically you’re dead. Try not to use his specials outside of confirms, the first hit of his Rekka is a free punish, and with characters like Ryu, if you follow up, he can hit Cr.Hp into HP DP. That gives him a CH and massive damage. Also, NEVER use Silent Entry XX Rising Storm. On block it’s like -9000000100202.

Lars Combo Thread.

I know I’m late But I’ll be on soon

LoL,

Actually the only reason I wanted to quote/reply to your comment is this:
Everytime I see your avatar, makes me wish Viper was in this game…the possibilties and bull shit she could add to my team, drool XD

I like Viper as a character, and her design. And if my execution wasn’t somewhere between a pile of poo and baby hands, I’d probably play her too.

…I was going to say but no, I don’t want her in this game, but actually, with the way this game’s systems work she could be particularly fun. O_O

Huh.

It’s a love/hate relationship~ On one hand your really like the character but on the other your execution kinda screws with her overall effectiveness?
I know the feeling…but if I really want to learn a character like that…i just commit to it and grind it out, amazing shit happens afterwards~

Chain into EX Seismo causing ground bounce xSJCx Burn kick (reset cross up), cr. mp xx DP (switch cancel) TOASTY!
I played her a little in MVC3 and I totaly wanted to main her in that game but I couldn’t get into that game at all.
probably because my team was Chun, Viper, X-23…likely not a good combination I dunno.

So my friend wants to get into the game…any universal tutorials or something i should be showing him @_@?

I believe this is something the game doesn’t have…a Vesper Arcade styled tutorial…

That’s true, and I have the same problem with Ibuki, I’ve loved that character since 3s but every time I commit to playing her it feels like I’m playing with two left feet. It makes me extremely sad when I see a good Ibuki because I would love to play her, just the playstyle didn’t fit me I guess?

That’s also why me picking up Nina and liking her in this game is so odd to me, I’ve never been a big Nina fan, and yet her interpretation in this game “feels right”, and it felt good playing her almost immediately. So I guess it’s more of a combination of aesthetics and playstyle feeling right immediately than just dedication. After all, Juri in Super was a bitch to learn on pad, but I stuck with her and then even learned stick partially because of her. O__O

Granted, the side effect of that was it almost immediately helped me play Honda better too, so that helped.

…fuck I still wish Honda and Rose made it in to this game. >____________>

Anyways, rambling.

I played X-23 too, great minds think alike… main team was Deadpool/X-23/Shuma. Team worked alright as far as it went (though overall it was weak synegy-wise). But yeah… I enjoy watching MvC3 and all, but yeah, not my cup of tea overall. But I digress.

You know what? That’s something that is lacking, isn’t it? There needs to be a low-level introduction video of sorts for the game.
The most I’ve seen is Max’s videos prior to the game releasing but I think those might be a little too basic? Perhaps that’s something that could be worked on, a good “you know the basic systems of the game, let’s put that together and show you how/why they work” tutorial.

Man, I know Bryan has been gimped, and the update doesn’t have much good news for him, but he’s too fun to quit. I wanna main him, but I have no idea what partner I should use. :frowning:

I know theres tons of character specific tutorials online that explain properties of every normal, special and unique move the character has to offer. I remember when I was learning Xiaoyu (since she was such a far departure from her Tekken incarnation) I saw a nice 45 minute long tutorial on YouTube explaining every basic thing you need to know to play her. Really helped me get started moving in the right direction to mastering her.

I would maybe make some SFxT tech vids, but with ver. 2.0 around the corner. Imma wait.

This has been keeping me from doing anything as well ever since we were told about an overhaul patch a few months back… is capcom good at stringing us along or what? >.>
