SFxT General Discussion #3 - Still Alive

how the fuck are fighting games in a funk? And TTT2 sold more than fine in japan considering it’ still primarily a arcade title and has sold great in korea and here in the US. This “funk” like the Dark Ages doesn’t exist.

May I ask, how deep do you do your DP’s? From what I understand, well based of the Heihachi forum, is his J.HK stays active for a while. I believe you’d have more success if your DP was done more deep, Like Ken’s MP DP.

That’s where Hei shines more than anybody else, once he’s in your face the mix ups are so intense, especially because his frame trap high/low game is so strong. And when you make a few incorrect guesses…that’s the game. I have a strong feeling that Heihachi and many of the more dangerous mix up characters are going to be much better in 2013, especially with the system changes and a nerf to life recovery.

Could we see an AE style vortex reintroduced? Obviously we don’t have those vortex characters here, but I’ve not faced any mix up that compared to a Seth or C.Viper vortex, even with unfamiliarity in regards to the Tekken cast. I do think certain characters will get more air time in the new patch, hopefully Lili will make an appearance, as she’s stupidly good.

It’s a simple over-saturation of the market. More games = smaller sales. FGC is small compared to other communities and it’s been divided more and more. Very few are the ones who can afford to buy/invest time in every game that is coming out so they settle with a couple and ignore the other games.

Only way to fix this is if all developers stop making half assed iterations every 6-12 months but they won’t cuz they’re greedy and want to take advantage of the market. And when developers realize they are selling a lot less than expected, they will start selling very poor quality/clone games in high quantity to hopefully make more money that way. But it’s a cycle that will inevitably lead to a video game crash like in 83. It’s just a matter of time tbh.

Also helps not to try and push 60%of a game for 60 bucks only to find out later the entire game, costs over 100 dollars.

Shit happens.

maybe i should practice kof to get used to punishable rolls ;_;

Hwoarang has a vortex…

With Cammy I try to do them as late as possible against Heihachi, but what happens is the Cannon Spike moves her forward and Heihachi’s roundhouse clips her in the back depending on the spacing. Same thing happens against Jin’s roundhouse. Doesn’t actually matter how late it’s done if their jump is spaced right.

Makes sense, since Street Fighter IV 3D Edition made 1.1 million copies worldwide with 44,649 in Japan.

Not even the same ball park  In KOF Rolls suck if you do them on wake up. The only times they are good are against cross up set ups (usually after throws). Characters can set up their ambiguous cross ups (which involves them jumping) and the best way to avoid that mix up is to roll. Reversals are not as viable in that game because you have to commit and they are generally really unsafe, so typically your going to be blocking 1) Short hop pressure (can react to rolls with throw) 2) meaty cr lk pressure (even easier to react to rolls with throw). Also the properties and Dynamics of rolling are completely different, In KOF your most reliable punish on rolls are throws (close c or d) and you typically want to do this as fast as you can. Contrary to KOF, SFxT rolls post patch will not be grab-able until the ending animation frames. As it is right now you cant really punish a roll on reaction like you can in KOF, typically because you got to cover alot of space in a short amount of time. Basically dont do it, also you live and die by the jump so i can see you getting anti aired into Neo Max, or just Neo Max anti air a lot so I have a feeling you wont like it for long.

I don’t know why people keep citing TTT2’s arcade version as a reason for a decline in sales. Every single Tekken game has had an arcade version playable in arcades while the console version was released. This is not a new phenomenon exclusive to TTT2. Like I said, T6 was in the same exact situation.

I don’t know about Korean sales, but the only numbers/clues to American sales of TTT2 that I’ve seen (NPD NeoGaf thread) haven’t been remarkable. If you have better numbers, pleasse feel free to link them.

But, fans are constantly asking for these updates to games. It’s not just the companies “half-assing” things out of greed. Or rather it’s greed on the part of the consumers, as well.

Never mind on the American Numbers, got some bullshit ones, TTT2 did okay here, not stellar but okay. But still personally I wouldn’t give a shit either way, people that are gonna pick it up that stick with it are the only people that matter and if that’s 100% of 500 or 25% of 500000 as long as we keep getting new players or keep who we got it’s no big deal.

It’s not okay. Tekken Tag 2 is one of Namco’s AAA releases. For the game to not even crack the top 10 is abysmal. Namco must be down the shitter when it comes to marketing. Getting Snoop Dogg to promote your game and everything

We should play sometime, or have we already?

i’ve played you a couple times… i’m mostly on PSN nowadays… but i can hop on xbl tomorrow or something

Cool. I like to think I’ve gotten a lot better over the past few weeks. What was your GT?

…wait. Now that I think about it. Did I play you a couple times in AE as well in an online tourney way back when? It dawned on me now, your GT seemed mad familiar.

<---- super-scrubby Rose player

It’s possible. I used to play AE a good bit. Red hatted Gouken always. I wish I could change my GT or name on here since this happens a lot.

LOL Yeah I think it was you. XD I feel yah, I kinda’ lucked out an my name isn’t all that creative or anything so it’s usually not taken anywhere.
