I want to be really excited about this, I had such high hopes for the game but right now it is the reverse boner of hype.
If Capcom also discounts the DLC to coincide with the release of this patch, they’ll make a lot of people happy.
The main problem I had with the game was that it was boring to watch and that the game had many good ideas but were executed poorly, so hopefully this next patch remedies those problems.
I don’t think the patch will save the game, but I do think it will make it a better, more playable game, albeit too late.
I’m still debating on getting this. I have every fighting game released this year besides SFxT. I think it was partially because of all the bad press that put me off. I’ll see how it turns out after it’s released.

I think this speaks volumes as he is not alone in that thought. Many people have a sour taste when it comes to SFxT after it’s initial hype died down. 2013 could reinvigorate the game but not sure if it can pick up steam after the huge fall it had. I am still open to try it after seeing how the new tweaks worked. Not sure if I can invest time into it though as I would need to catch up to those who still played the game despite much disappointment in others.
While I’m not too enthused about Guile getting hit with the nerfbat, I do like what I am hearing from the game. It seems Capcom really wants this game to catch an audience and I feel with a ton of changes, they can accomplish this.
i have only played three games of SFxT since it released, but i hope the changes will will benefit the community.
I have excite for this patch. It will bring balance to that which had no balance.
But really, hopefully patch will actually make this game viable, although I fear it’s already too late.
A good friend of mine wants to actually quit playing the game due to the fact that this patch has not fixed certain hitbox glitches. I will not say who this person is, but it is a shame because this person really got me into the game and I am still enjoying it to this day.
As for my own thoughts… I am a bit skeptical on the patch. I love the fact that they tweaked the mechanics a bit to make the game more stable and fun (less health regen is a big step in the right direction) However, I’m not too happy with some of the changes to the characters. I fail to understand why they insist on buffing characters like Chun Li when she was already very powerful to begin with. It doesn’t make any sense to me. I am also not happy at the fact that they changed Vega’s cr lp into a 1 frame link again like it is in SFIV. Now, anyone who knows me knows I wouldn’t drop Vega for anyone, but this is a really big annoyance.
Let me say that I am extremely happy that they toned down certain characters such as Hugo and Rolento. I believe they will both still be very good and viable characters after the patch comes out, but not many people will want to use them anymore. That is the way the fighting game community works unfortunately. Word of mouth from “top” players dictates who others will consider choosing as their characters, but I digress. Overall, I’m happy about the patch because I like I said above, I’m still enjoying this game.
My friend agreed to come over the day the patch comes out so I can try to convince him that Capcom fixed some of the hitbox glitches with Ibuki (OOPS). Hopefully they did and I’m confident that they did because Capcom usually does some stealth changes to keep things interesting. Gems are a different story, but I rarely use them unless they’re Pandora gems.
Speaking of Pandora, I’ve found a lot of good tech with that mechanic with my two characters, so I’m extremely happy that Pandora has been given a time increase in 2013. People should definitely NOT sleep on Pandora, and I urge everyone to go into training mode and try to find some Pandora combos with their teams. It’ll be worth it, I promise. Overall, I think Pandora is a perfect comeback mechanic (if it can be called that). It’s very situational and you need to have the correct setups for it, otherwise you’ll just be giving your opponent a free win.
In conclusion, one can clearly see that this new version of SF X TK will bring new life into the game (at least I’m hoping so) and all of you should consider checking it out. One more thing… Please try and have your own opinions about this game. I know a lot of you just don’t like it because it’s been the cool thing to do lately. Don’t be a sheep.
Thank you!
I feel like some of the changes made are excellent, such as the buffs to Yoshimitsu, Paul, and so forth. The changes to rolls, gem colors, and launcher zoom are also fantastic. As much as I’d like to, I can’t lie about the rest of the changes. I feel as if the Street Fighter cast got brutally nerfed, definitely don’t like it much. I was hoping for a balance of strength between the two sides but now it seems as if the Tekken characters will dominate. Still, I’m keeping an open mind and will be giving the patch an honest try.
I remember years ago, as a child, when I had the rare opportunity to get to spend an hour at an arcade to play a “real” fighter instead of the inferior home versions if they were even available, I’d get absolutely thrashed by someone who’d find something OP and beat the hell out of me with it. I’d fantasize afterward about how amazing it would be to be able to play fighters with other people right through my TV at home, and have the opportunity to try to devise new ways to get around that crushing, seemingly impossible-to-break character or move.
Less than two decades later, that dream is a reality. I can play online any time I want, and now games can actually be patched if something exists that truly ruins the experience for a majority of players. I know it’s taboo to say and I’ll likely get flamed for it, but the old-school arcade culture yielded some terrible attitudes and inflexible people who just spread negativity and misery instead of digging deep like they used to in order to get the most out of games these days.
I’m overjoyed that Capcom hasn’t abandoned this game, and I tremendously look forward to participating in the game’s evolution after the 2013 patch. Arcades were the way of the past, players and developers working together to make great fighters is the way of the future.
Hyped for SFxT 2013. Sure there are some questionable changes like Law losing crumple damage but there is also the gain of his flash kick. I feel like it is like this for the rest of the cast were we wonder whats that nerf or buff about but im confident it will all come together in a very cohesive fashion and AE gonna have to step over from everyone’s capcom favorite. Heck im so hyped me and a friend i constantly play with who mains Paul are coming together to make a Paul/Yoshi team called “Team 2013” or “Team 1/29”
I don’t really get the Sakura nerfs. She wasn’t even that good in xT, but its whatever. If the game gets some traction locally I might give it a second look, but where I live it’s pretty much just MvC3 or KoF.
I don’t see xT having the correct ammount of bullshit for either group.
Not enough for Marvel players, too much for KoF players.
I like how they are buffing Lars and Steve, favorite characters of all time. OF ALL TIME.
I’ve much respect for those who main games like super turbo, 3s and SF4 et al, but I originally passed on Cross Tekken because it evoked more of a feeling of those games than it did anything Tekken to me, which makes sense as this is Capcom’s version.
There’s the whole “1,2,3,4” thing for Tekken characters, which is nice and all, but the few chances I had to go hands-on with the game, none of my Tekken combos existed, and what was there had been transformed into crazy links of sorts with strict and awkward rules concerning juggling: the whole SF way of things and whatnot (which once again, makes sense since this is Ono’s style).
In spite of that though, hearing about ver.2013 and its comprehensive adjustments, ranging from healthbar/UI readability to damage output/health recovery fixes, in light of an opportunity to land a free copy for my Vita, makes me willing put my reservations on hold and interests me in giving the game a fair shot for what it is. Perhaps when afforded the extended opportunity to put the game through its paces, I can determine whether or not I can appreciate XTekken in spite of its stylistic tendencies.
I’m excited that Quick Combos won’t trigger seemingly at random ha ha.
As far as character specific things go the Nina buffs are extremely welcome. I’m a bit sad to see King’s uf + 4 silliness get nerfed but it was totally understandable. His changes look like they’ll be fun as well.
Never really got into the regular vers but im willing to give it a try when the patch comes out. would love it on my vita lol
I’ve wanted rolls to have recovery at the end since near the beginning of the game’s life. Excited that they made the change.
I’ve actually had absolutely no interest in SFxT until very recently. Due to the 2013 patch along with IPL officially picking up the game I decided it might as well be a good time to look into it. So I guess overall the changes are very positive for the games scene no?
I’m interested in this patch only because when this game out there was a extremely high spike in this game being played then an immediate dropout due to complaints about generally everything leaving only those who truly appreciated the game which wasn’t many playing it. The patch claims to have addressed a good deal of issues so if it can bring back people and make it a viable game again I’ll try playing it again. Buff and nerfs aren’t really to big of a deal to me, my favorites have been from the start Juri and Asuka and it’ll stay that way when the patch drops.
