SFxT 2013 SCR Test Requests

  • Can you test the hurt box enlargements on st.mp and st/cr.lk?
  • the combo possibilities off of ex air raid special with the recovery being reduced.
    -the hit box enlargement of dynamite heel and with bounding airborne opponents can it act as another aa option.

Then it will probably be best to end with cr.hp xx whatever set ups she has for hard / soft kd. I see ex knee as a defensive move now because of the damage reduction, and the nature of how her combos scale. Lili should not be in if she doesn’t have meter and you should be looking to get her out if your’re down to 1 bar. In 2012 she had poor order control options in combos and defensively outside of raw tag after a guard cancel.

tl;dr not worth it to stay in anymore after ex knee follow up unless your next touch, on hit or block kills. This is assuming your partner isn’t near death.

I know that this is too much to test out and obviously you’re going to prioritize what gets tested, but i’d like to know how punishable Bryan’s mach breaker is.

Okay I’ve read everyone’s posts and Ill get to as many as I can. The tournament is my #1 priority of course, but all of my time playing casuals I will be looking for and/or testing a lot of the stuff in this thread. If I dont get to yours specifically it’s not that Im ignoring you, its just that Im only one person. But for sure Ill be on the stations all weekend long till I get kicked off! As compensation for anything I dont get to test specifically, I’ll be recording lots of off-stream matches so hopefully that will hold you guys over.

One last one for Cody that will be very quick to test: Does counterhit s.HP or c.HP - EX Badstone work with the 2F (lol) reduction to 30F EX Badstone startup? I’m pretty sure it still wont but I could be wrong.

Yea, this. Unless they get the DLC characters by tomorrow, you guys are out of luck on that front.

Ill try to test what I can tomorrow. I was pretty tired and forgot to write anything down, so I’ll make a list tonight and try to get some questions answered tomorrow.

Overall though the game feel great. New timing is weird getting used to. But everything feels like it does more damage, and throws feel great now.

A couple things from just playing casuals though:

Bob’s cl.HP seems like it makes for some good juggles, but he’s still limited by the juggle counter. I didn’t try cl.HP > granchi cannon but I was using (post-launch): cl.HP xx CADC (probably don’t need this), cr.HP xx HP cracker/pound. Also, cl.HP xx spiral rocky is really solid damage for tag cancels.

His jab is still pretty damn good. Fast break is a scary mix up close, but the range on the overhead is super limited. You land langue washer from it, but only with MK special step.

EX giga jacker is a hard knockdown on grounded opponent, but does a ground bounce on airborne for nice tag follow ups.

Abel…cr.HP, nuff said. The nerfs to wake up in general and his own new alpha counter help him immensely.

Post launch I’ve now been using cl.HP xx LK wheel kick, step kick, cl.HP xx FS. Does around 20 extra damage on average, so eh. Makes for an easy meterless launch into your partner though.

Ok new question:

General game mechanics
Seems chained launchers doesn’t have as much hit freeze, while raw launchers OR juggled launchers has the old freeze and animation. Confirmation? Do you have less time to juggle after a tagged cross rush launcher now?****

Can f+mk st.mp chain CADC’ed be punished by 3f jabs? Want to see if it’s at least safe, if it is, it’s going to be an amazing cadc tool.

Is st.hk xx oni > cr.hp xx falling rain possible after launcher?

What is the pushback on raging storm like? (hcb p, p followup), will generic jabs reach it?

Alright guys Im gonna list all the stuff I figured out. As mentioned before, the main SFxT tournament was moved to Saturday because of no DLC characters and I wasn’t able to test any of them. Also uploading quite a few videos when I get home.

General
-Command grabs work on rolls
-Less screen freeze doesn’t shorten the combos you can do.
-Alpha counters that didn’t cause hard knockdowns before now do, like Ryu and Cammy.

Dhalsim

  • can link low jab 1 frame
  • yes you can low jab after overhead
    -Both links (close light into close light/low jab) work
    -Sim safe to raw tag after up flame
    Chun-Li
    Hazanshu can be launched consistently. Have to be pretty close though.

Juri
That jump cancel combo still works fine.

Rolento
-Jab is still extremely powerful in footsies and ticking. I didn’t notice any difference playing Infiltration. He used it like 2012 Cammy and to whiff punish pokes just fine.
-Jump Mk still crosses up but it is harder to space. Usually you’ll just walk under in during random pogo hopping.

Guile
Low jab, low strong link is harder and low fierce… doesn’t trade as often.

Asuka
Low fierce still crumples
•Possible to connect st.hk(or cr.hp) xx onikubigari > st.mk xx falling rain after a launcher? NO
Asuka f.lk always hits once
Asuka only ex catches rolls

Law
EX dragon knuckle still crumples. Not normal version. Blowback is just like a really long real animation like a fierce punch. Can only combo off it by finishing the dragon knuckle string.
Law anti air low fierce into somersault into low fierce somersault again works but only on counter hit. You can get both somersault flips to hit in the corner.
Fury fist rush pushback massively reduced. You can punish with jabs, 5 frame or faster DPs, etc now.

Bison
Far strong into low strong works. Didn’t specify close/far but I couldn’t get close strong to combo into low strong.

Sorry there’s not more stuff but Ill get some more tomorrow. I was spending most of my time practicing with my characters and I played a ton of games against Infiltration’s Rolento Lili. Went around 27-3. He kept stopping his combos short and going for the safe chain with lili starting with a low (I think its a target combo) or doing overhead. It wasn’t really a reset like flipping out but he ends his combos with you standing so you have to keep guessing high low, left right dive kick, throw. He also jumps over fireballs extremely well. I don’t think it’s just a read. He can either legitimately react to Ryu’s or maybe he listens to buttons, because almost none of his jumps were preemptive. Always slightly after I started up. Or maybe he’s just that good at reading patterns. He can also punish Ryu whiffed low forward every time with Lili’s target combo (the forward moving one). Also met RotB Coffee again and his Balrog is good. Not a bad character, you just need to be a good player. Overall playing 2013 has been really good, but like Vulcan Hades said before if you were losing before and blamed safe chains and DP tags on your losses you won’t suddenly start winning now. Footsies just reverts back to how SF4 is with extra emphasis on not whiffing laggy normals and DP tag is punishable but very hard to happy birthday. Usually the first character flies over you while pushback on your link punishes moves you forward. You’ll probably have to come up with specific punishes for DP tag to get both characters.

So with command grabs nina pretty much has unblockables on rolls with ex rolling dash. Mix that in with either power gems and/or meter gems,you have sime deadly shit.
