finally i am gold. only one rq today and I did it. It’s really hard when you are not that great with your character and really need those extra points.
I’m glad that I ll get to play with better players now. more respect in battle lounges and better matchmaking in casuals. That’s all I cared about. I might go “competitive” again after guile, but meeeeh I dont have time. gg, wp.
I think that gold league achievement drives people nuts. rq’ers and bo3 abusers are mostly from the silver league.
I hate how ass I am. I can’t make it out of Ultra Bronze and I keep getting matched up against Silver and Super Silvers I can’t beat. I don’t think that shit is fair, not that rankings mean anything but I shouldn’t be fighting nothing but super silvers and golds as an ultra bronze player.
I’m new to the game trying to learn and I’m just getting straight bodied. I don’t even know if I’m getting better. Seeing everyone talk about being silver and gold makes me think I should just quit.
I wish there is a way to do a mix of casual and ranked. Meaning, p1 in casual match, will not gain or lose points, and p2 in ranked will gain or lose according to the p1’s rank equivalent. I just want more fights without ranks.
These are the are the exceptions and not the norm.
A 2/3 option is worthless if it isn’t mandatory. Force these options on the player base and force em to git gud. The people who don’t want to play 2/3 can simply stay off ranked if they are that afraid of losing precious LP.
Some people need to treat this game less like the other player “owes” you anything. Ranked’s a frickin’ sorting system, people, not a dick measuring tool. I’m all for a system that prevents point-farming, but where’s the harm in letting people say yes or no to rematches? Just fiddle with the point distribution if that’s what the big concern is.
I’m allowed to say no to a rematch against a Mika who spends the whole round non-stop YOLO-throwing herself at me trying to get in so she can get that precious 50/50, just in case she won’t get punished that ONE time. I’m allowed to say no to a rematch against a Ryu that came down to the wire when I fought like three Ryus before him and I wanna fight other characters besides Ryu please. He’s allowed to say no to me because he doesn’t like to fight against Birdie.
I WOULD like the option to just keep rematches going in Casual. Capcom can stop giving fight money after the first couple of matches if they’re concerned that people are gonna set up FM farming operations like that. If I’m having a lotta fun fighting someone, I’d just like to be able to have another fight with’em without having to specifically search them out for a battle lounge.
I like it it’s just a shame the points system de-incentivises the higher ranked player from using the rematch option. I’ve had a couple close games today against platinum and super platinums (I only have 2500lp) and they bailed because it wasn’t worth the hit to their points if they lost a run back. I really wanted to run it back just for the experience more than anything else.
Anything that encourages less games is a bad thing imo. Yes, you should lose more points if you lose to someone below your rank, but not to the extremes we have currently. Or at least fix the matchmaking so players 4 or more leagues apart don’t get matched up in the first place.
Why are you pretending like rank isnt a dick measuring tool? Thats all any rank is in any fighting game. "My rank is 6.
Rank is a dick measuring tool. That’s all it is and that’s all it will ever be. Stop pretending like you are above it and in the very next paragraph you start rattling off excuses for why you are afraid of losing LP.
This is exactly why an optional 2/3 option in ranked is dumb. You basically only want to rematch when the condition is favorable for you. You shouldn’t be allowed to dodge those Mika’s and Ryu’s just because you don’t like the matchup.
Of course you should be allowed to say no to these players at some points. That’s why you always have the option of staying off ranked.
You and I seem to be playing the game for different reasons. I play the game to have fun. Ranked gets me more opponents that are on my level, which is more fun. Setting my fight request setting to both ranked and casual gets me more matches, which is also more fun.
Playing against a Mika who doesn’t do anything but spam her specials and jumpins only to get knocked back out or antiaired isn’t fun. I wouldn’t rematch against a Ken who did nothing but shoryukens either, no matter how badly he got CC-punished for it. Or that Cammy-bot that popped up a while back where she literally did nothing but spam her V-skill.
If I’m having a fun match, I don’t care what point level people are at or how badly I or they got beaten. I’ll rematch because it’s fun. Learning by getting your ass handed to you over a good connection is actually fun. Seeing lower-level players who are actually playing the game start to figure out the matchup and go toe to toe with you and maybe even beat you is fun. Playing against someone who’s mashing their face into the PS4 pad or keyboard is not fun.
And, dangit man. I don’t wanna pull out the “actually read what you quoted” line that’s tossed around so much when people have dumb forum arguments, but:
“I’m allowed to say no to a rematch against a Ryu that came down to the wire when I fought like three Ryus before him and I wanna fight other characters besides Ryu please.”
If I’ve spent the last half hour to an hour fighting nothing but Ryu, I’d be overjoyed to find a Nash, who’s a WORSE matchup for my main. Because variety is fun. No variety is no fun. I shudder to think of the early days of SF4, which was basically Ryu Ken Fighter 4 online.
I rematch everyone unless the lag is unbearable. It feels great to make the adjustment if I lost the 1st match to random bullshit and pretty good to try again against someone just straight up better than me. Maybe I’ll even learn something.
Ranked 2/3 is the only improvement they’ve made from SF4 online play
Everything else is the same or worse, it’s incredibly disappointing especially when you look at what folks with less resources can do on games like Skullgirls or Guilty Gear
