SFV Lounge: SRK Cross Tag Battle

Yeah for how not top tier people still think Sim is, does makes sense that he probably does fare well vs all of the top. Sim is one of the few characters that is comfortable vs other zoners because his movement and V Skill basically allow him to float and teleport around their zoning. You can invade Menat’s and Guile’s neutral in ways that few other characters can. Akuma is good, but if you hit him you can tear through him quick and he still has 900 stun.

Cammy seemed to stop being a nightmare for Sim once Season 2 hit and he’s only been getting buffs for the most part since then.

I just broke my controller after a horrible loss against some Urien who just kept pressing buttons and I had no idea how to deal with it. That’s the kind of reaction you don’t come back from so I did the only reasonable thing and deleted the game. I was looking forward to Falke but obviously I’m no longer mentally ā€˜fit’ for fighting games.

A bit shocked at myself for this. Yeah I had a shitty day but still.

Edit: Username kinda fits now, there’s nothing her for me anymore as well I suppose.

It’s obvious Capcom hates Vega or don’t know what to do with him.

He’s been in low/bottom tier hell for the past decade.

They don’t want him to be nearly untouchable like in cvs2 despite doing no damage and having no combos.

Meanwhile, Akuma and Cammy are undisputed top 3, just like ssf4 are 2012.

SF2: ā€œLook at all our whacky character achetypes for you to have fun with. This definitely won’t come back to haunt us when people take this game seriously and SF becomes competetive lolā€

I t took me about 3 months to get confident with Kolin and I took allot of losses in casuals and BL’s during that time. I didn’t even really play rank with her all that. I thought I was improving and then I went to rank and de ranked from Ultra Gold to Super Silver in like 2 days of playing her. It was brutal because in my mind, I thought that I had learned the game with Cammy and that my fundies would carry over. And while they did… I still had allot to learn about Kolin and had to stop playing her like Cammy.

It wasn’t until the Ed Beta, where I took her out for rank (fake rank cuz it was not base SFV) and managed to get to gold with her. Id also like to highlight that unlike S1, I didn’t have as much time to level up my Kolin as I was only playing 3 times a week due to work and other things. At the very beginning I thought really hard about committing to her because her play style felt really unorthodox. And I even slipped up a few times and played Cammy out of frustration. But I told myself that if I wanna improve at this game and show everyone [SRK] that I can become stronger then I have to tough it out and get gud.

What you’re feeling is prob what every dedicated [Insert character] main has felt when switching. Play who your heart tells you to play. But don’t think that just because you don’t get a new character that that character isn’t for you.

Real talk Bea you aren’t at a super high level, so jumping into a new skin is gonna be fucking tough. Allot of people in the lower ranks switch characters all the time because they get annoyed that they can’t win and think if they mash st.HK with Bison or mash cr.FP with Cammy that maybe then they’ll get ā€œW’sā€. Only to run back to Zeku and post on Reddit about how they can’t win. Then when someone asks how many games they’ve played it’s like 200 matches which is basically 0. Gief will always be in the game so taking time to learn a sub character won’t impact your Gief skills all that much.

You know you’re a good friend Bea and I’m not trying to talk down to you because I was you 2 years ago. Keep doing sets with people who are stronger than and keep improving. Maybe Sak won’t be the SFV saver for you but don’t count her out even if you gotta hold fidy tree losses in a day. It’s fucking rough but I swear you’ll thank yourself later for sticking with her even if only for half a year.

Plus it’s always nice to have another character you can pull out in sets with friends (b ^ __^)b

A big, beautiful, German wall you say?

…Sounds familiar.

As Delete loses his SF powers, Twin gives Bea the power to carry on.

Man I know that feeling of wanting to burn down a nursery for infants after a loss but don’t give up man. Taking a break is cool but I’ve always played through the pain for better and for worse.

I hope you come back.

Maybe it’s because SFV is my first SF I’m taking seriously but due to the community and leveling up I just can’t put the game down.

Shout out to Beekmer, Jerom and Jokee for being my go to guys for matches. I consider these guys to be my friends and when I play them I have so much fun even when I’m fucking salty from getting hit by wake up super lmao

Seriously, to all you lurkers who are mad when you lose find some friends here to play with instead of trying to grind rank. Save rank fro the weekends or something.

First, thanks for the kind words.
I know I am not at a high level at all right now. I still have 15+ years of rust to shake off from playing FGs competitively, and even then my speciality back then was King of Fighters, not SF.

The whole idea is getting good at this and I knew I would take the ton of loses I took with Sakura when I moved to her.
Specially because I pretty much only did one night of casual matches, where I lost 20 matches and won 2, before dipping right into that ranked grind.
Got demoted right back to bronze, but that didn’t bother me at all. It was expected to happen.
And since them I haven’t played Gief outside lounges and a few casual matches.

I am sticking to her till I am 100% sure I cannot make this work. I know I am not getting more than a 40% win ratio with her because of my short comes as a player rather than her lack of tools.
I believe I have 300+ ranked matches with her under my belt for now.
My skill with her right now is almost the same my Gief skills were when I picked SFV back in last November. I knew how to play him, but I didn’t know SFV at all and haven’t had played matches against other people online since 2003 or so.

Still, every experiment must come to a conclusion. If I can’t even make it to silver by the time the Latam tournament rolls and I don’t even get to take a round off my opponents during the tournament, then it will be time to accept that I cannot adapt to her style, lay her down and move back to Gief for the time being.

This is truth.

Playing randos online is one thing but playing the guys and gals here is the most fun I’ve had with SFV. And as a bonus they have also been the most educational sets.
