SFV Lounge: SRK Cross Tag Battle

She legit has no animation around 3-4 seconds from that spinning baton move to the crouching attack. It’s like one frame she is standing, the next she’s on the ground thrusting forward a bit. Looked very odd.

I like her default the best. Story costume is ok and good for feet fetish people, but yeah. Battle costume is sexy catsuit thing, but that’s such a done costume any way. Her default best identifies who she is and is basically what Ed’s outfit should have been. Distinct, but not as loud and asymmetrical. I will have to find red colors for her story and battle though. That pinkish story one looked cute.

Yeah what I like about Falke is that she’s a bit less anime and Dhalsimish than Menat. Don’t have to grind so much training mode to remember when to orb/not orb/v trigger micro walk and so on. She’s more of a hard poker/projectile zoner and that’s pretty much what I was looking for as a side character to deal with any big body/grappler type characters that I may not just wanna pray that I get in on with Ibuki. I just got into her originally because of design and Gambit powers in her story, but if I had known she was going to have actual projectile zoning plus the staff I would have been all about her already.

I also like that she has an EX reversal because Im not a big fan of 4 frame lights and/or no EX reversal. If I had to choose between one its better to have some type of EX reversal even though its slow than have to sit on 3 frame and pray. I like at least an invincible way out and since Falke is a range/pew pew character the idea is to keep them from getting there to begin with. Do also like that her bnb and punish game looks more solid than Menats.

She will definitely start out worse than Menat because I’m sure Menat has a better V Trigger than both of hers (even though Falke’s VT1 looks solid) and I’m sure Falke’s buttons even if long as fuck wont have Menat level disjoints. Menat is top tier big part to that once you learn to control orb and orbless you can throw around buttons that the opponent literally can’t counter poke from certain ranges. Plus once you get in orbless allows anime ass conversions off her overheads and lows (especially with VT). I imagine Falke’s light and medium pokes will be able to be counter poked more like traditional buttons. We’ll see. I imagine Falke’s mix up overall will be solid with standing plus low and possible instant overheads.

Isn’t that always the case when you link from a standing move into a crouching one? It’s just really noticeably here because she literally lies on the floor but if you hit st.MP with Ryu and then link into cr.MK there’s no transition either. The only difference being is that he’s still on his feet so it doesn’t look as odd.

They could have gone with a Chun-style leg-crossed pose to shoot the low projectile to avoid this maybe.

Yeah most links, targets and cancels are going to skip somewhere. Like if you do c.MK to fireball with Ryu suddenly he’s going to go from having his feet planted on the floor to up right standing in a fireball motion. You can’t really make cancels look too much more fluid than that without disrupting the action. Like in roman cancels or FADCs you have to stop the previous motion at some point.

She probably could have a few more transition frames before she gets into prone position, but with a cancel you’re only going to see so much transition from the v skill twirl and the prone position.

Sounds like Falke might just make it to my main squad along with Birdie and Blanka. Pretty stinkin excited about the possibilities. Shoot, might even try getting back into ranked to get to diamond, but as it stands I have no ganas.

Yeah it just looks really jarring here, I think it’s because she thrusts a little bit and is so close to the ground.

I think the reason it is so noticeable is her staff. Because of its length, it draws more attention to the lack of transition frames.

That definitely looks like a IAOH, and she cancel that into air fireball. She has great AA’s and good reach normal’s with no extended hurtbox. She’s going to be a pain. I like it. I think I finally have a secondary.

Her cr.mp looks solid as a brick. Sure it has long recovery, but it’s cancelable with long range and short hurtbox. She will be complained about.

Aphrodite and Venus may be the very same Goddess of beauty.
But one is the Greek name and the other is Roman name for said Goddess of beauty. :stuck_out_tongue:

Aphrodite and Venus are the same goddess. The Roman’s renamed all of the Greek gods and goddesses. The planets follow the Roman naming convention. Jupiter instead of Zeus, Mars instead of Ares, etc.

In the context of the video that was taken from they were just using it at as a jump in, but yeah there’s likely a way to make that IOH like Sim’s sniper or anvil.

Some of her cancels from long stuff require VT1. Like j.HP only cancels in VT1 and c.MP also only cancels in VT1. Regardless with the range on those buttons and how some of her decent ranged lights string into V Skill and such I’m sure there’s a lot of options to bnb and keep people pressured until you get VT1.

s.MP of course being her go to cancel/counter hit button once you get close enough. s.HP (the over the head whack) is also cancelable naturally into specials and has a lot of range (think its unsafe on block, but doesn’t account for possible pushback and range for punishment). Her f+HP command normal where she reaches her arm and staff out across the screen causes CC and probably has a max range where certain characters have no way of punishing it (though probably can easily be jumped on and such). In V Trigger you can also cancel it into trigger fireballs.

Oh I didn’t see that those were trigger cancels. That’s fair. Does she have a grounded OH?

Just looking at her overall kit she seems like a wall. Strong neutral and AA’s in V can lead to domination. Just look at how Guile, Sim, and Menat can just shut things down when they’re on point. Falke screams strong neutral to me. I’m gonna grind it out with her.

Think her only grounded/special overhead is in V Trigger 2. Seems like she otherwise has to more force her range and ability to perform light bnbs from long range to force damage and pressure. Her standing low and ability to c.LK into V Skill from a solid range should keep people holding down back for a while which is not good vs someone who has as much range as her.

Seems c.MP is minus 4 on block and her s.HP that is cancelable is only minus 3 on block. So s.HP will definitely be go to to fish for confirms and throw something that can safely be blocked and add white chip. Once people figure out the ranges where you can safely cancel into her charged standing shotgun fireball she should be able to keep good pressure and range neutrally.

Yeah Falke, Sim, Guile and Menat are slowly adding to the long range potential of the game and help give more options to those who dont want to play the close meta that SFV was originally pushing. Infiltration and Daigo have played a lot more comfortably now that they’ve found characters that fit their in and out control style. Not surprising that Guile and Menat are 2 characters that force a struggle out of a lot of other characters because they can play a low risk/long ranged style that most of the other cast wasn’t built to do.

Birdie also kinda fits in there as a more button based zoner/grappler hybrid and has been one of the only true real ranged characters before Guile and Menat.

When’s Rose?

Good question. With her apprentice in the game and Falke being a bit of her gameplay wise (walk around with big buttons, no grounded overhead and zone/reflect), not sure if she’s coming anytime soon. I didn’t think Cody or Blanka were going to make it anytime soon and they did, so guess there’s something.
