I will be up for that too, and if it happens, I won’t be using my main.
Today we rank a FT10 set where I used a day zero Cammy to show him some of her tools and to give him more experience fighting something closer to his current skill level.
If we do training sets, I will be running characters he is likely to run at on ranked at that level rather than Gief.
With those I will be playing bronze levels since I know pretty much nothing on how to play them.
Oh ok yeah I was practicing that in training mode and I was only having success inputting it before the c.MK hit. Probably take a bit to get that consistent although I’m sure there’s some method to make it more consistent that I could learn. Blanka’s def feels easier.
I know you’ve seen Pertho have a fit over Zeku’s fairness. Don’t do it to yourself. Stick with Mom’s Spaghetti.
I was watching some of your Gief replays and the main thing you’ll need to get to gold and up is to improve your offense. For lack of a better description you basically have no offense with Gief that doesn’t involve a jump in, a charged s.HP or a f+HP. If you dont land one of those 3 things you basically dont win the match you were playing. That becomes exacerbated by you using VT2 which pretty much requires you to have strong Gief offense to land as it doesn’t have any neutral defying vacuum suck stuff.
Some things to work on for the offense.
-
Make sure to mix up your c.LP’s with LP/EX SPDs, f+HP’s or lariats. Right now when you get close to people on the ground all you do is c.LPx a lot which isn’t going to get you any damage and wont scare anyone. You need to start ticking into command grabs as that’s his basic basic offense. Preferably LP or EX as you’ll usually be in range for those after c.LP ticks. EX giving you the oki you need to start momentum and LP is good if you already have life lead or aren’t in range for anything else. Then after you’ve trained them into grabs you can mix it up with f+HP which is plus on block/hit and keeps them on the ground for another grab attempt or you can lariat as a faster start up move to keep them grounded.
-
Learn your combos into VT2 grab. Once you’re in VT2 then c.LK, c.LP, EX SPD becomes a combo. That’s important as it gives you back some tick game off lights and allows you to tick off a low normal. This gives you some Abi like offense where you can scare people into blocking low as you’re moving forward at them. Stuff like f+HP, c.MP, LP/EX SPD is also really good. You get walk up f+HP as a meaty vs any button presses to make them think about staying grounded.

Don’t jump without a purpose. Especially vs those Ryu players it hurts double when you have optimal offense when you get close, to them just hopelessly jump into their anti airs until you lose. This is already rough enough once you have your offense down with Gief. Try to only jump if they throw a fireball too close to you or they keep throwing a predictable button on the ground. Gief doesn’t have the fastest jump so you’re just an air balloon up there vs characters like Ryu. Use more f+HP, v skill flex, s.LK x lariat, s.HK, f+MK and s.HP to approach. Try not to use too much charged s.HP unless you’re in a good spot for it as it’s easy to jump over or low profile the armor with a sweep.
If you put those 3 things to practice you should be in Gold quick enough.
I have been noticing that as well and I will practise the stuff you suggested.
I am not a big fan of using VT2 in combos unless it is near the end of the round as you are leaving damage and stun on the table, and you don’t get oki out of ground VT2 SPD, but I will try that.
My problem with cr lp is muscle memory. I am just so used to have it save my shapely butt back in S2 that I just keep on doing that.
I have been practising cr lp xx lariat, but timing seems to be tricky because cr lp is only +3 now and takes more frames to recover. The dummy was being able to block it 40% of the time, 100% of the time if it was a counter hit.
Like I care what that soft-ass scrub thinks
Well VT2 is more about the damage and being able to land combos into SPD. You won’t get SPD oki, but you still get meaty f+HP, s.HK oki (f+HP meaties if they hit most buttons and s.HK will catch them jumping). Which if you train them to stay on the ground with walk up f+HP/s.HK after the grab , then that opens them up to walk/dash up EX SPD and other things. 3 to 400 damage and big stun with only heavy button meaties is still better than not landing VT2 at all and never getting momentum.
The c.LP lariat thing you’ll learn with practice. Once you get your c.LP, SPD ticks down, then you can practice the c.LP lariat. Right now without c.LP SPD you won’t have much success with c.LP lariat any way.
Last thing I would suggest is to try not to pop VT2 in neutral too often. You do a lot of raw activate VT2 and that is the worst thing to do with that trigger. It has no ability to bring the opponent near you like VT1 so if you’re not near the opponent when you activate it you are pretty much throwing the match away. Even something simple like making them block a s.MP or s.HP and then activating VT2 is scary. You can combo when it hits for some decent damage or even if it hits you can still delay and force a lariat/f+HP/grab mix up and if they take the grab they’re taking like a 310 damage grab. Which after the landed grab you can walk up and f+HP if you think they’re going to press a button or walk up and s.HK if you figure they are going to jump.
I will lab some of that stuff tomorrow and put it in practise as well to see how it goes.
Thanks a lot for the input.
okkkk
so just booted the game up for the first time in maybe 4-5 weeks. The second person i fight in BL was a literal mexican jumping bean.
I’m sitting here trying to get a feeling back for the game and all this jackass wants to do is jump. That shit is annoying

real?
Oh lovely, he’s gonna find another thing to rage quit.
My brother said he’s supposed to be taking himself off social media after this? Is that what’s going down?
People not liking the new game is nothing new. Dudes didn’t like SF3, dudes didn’t like SF4. Another day.

I’m not gonna beg you to ‘come back’ or anything because I’m not 12, but I am wondering if you have any kind of creative projects that you’re working on? You’re a great entertainer and would love to see anything else that you end up putting out there.

[–]RossyBoyyy[S] Yeah but the stuff I want to put out later may fail, you may never see it or hear it but I’m always going to be doing crazy shit til the day I die.
I just needed a year off from everything to get my mind right for my future
not sure if its fg related but he seem to have some plans for stuff in the future. kinda sad how things ended but at the end its good to just move on from time to time.
I love Mike but man would I kill to have even 1/10th of the opportunities he’s aggressively and hatefully pissed away
I actually respected Ross until that reddit interview. He comes off as a bitter angry relic that can’t see the bigger picture.
And everyone who isn’t party to his ideas is a capitalist dicksucker. How inspired.
You didn’t leave SFV and the FGC, Mike - it was you who was left behind. And you’re still pissed about it as evidenced by your interview.
you will get there with time. just look at what you achieved already.
That interview with Mike shows how bad the FGC has been affected by esports. #getesportsoutoffightinggames !!!
I heard he has some drama with the Capcom Pro Talk show and had to pay out of pocket when Capcom wasn’t funding it anymore. Some shitty shit supposedly happened to him, but to go on this whole thing because of some situations he is on some real scarred shit.
Me personally I would just get a sponsor and that’s it. You can’t trust any of these developers to be that far into their shit. I like the games that I like in this FGC/esports climate, but I know corporate is corporate.
His wording and overall reaction is not what I would consider synonymous with one who has “moved on”.
He says that he doesn’t ‘hang out’ anymore because he is ‘too old’ for it and that he wouldn’t play Honda if he were to be released in SFV. That just reads dark and depressing to me.
Well at least he still lives and dies by the sumo.
Also if he’s too old, then Valle and Sako should be skeletons by now.
Even if you dislike something, I don’t see the need to act like a manchild when you no longer like it. He just seems covered in this juvenile tone when he speaks, and it won’t change the fact he just up and left without a word. No respect for the guy.
