Good to see Tokido take it. Luckily Akuma does well vs Abigail so that’s a whatever issue.
Menat and Guile are going to be thorns in his side for a while, but if anybody can figure it out it’s murder face.

And this is why commentary stays trash tier
turned on to see what you talk about…come hadoken…come, come in me…got it
even mr wizard mentioned that he wish twitch would allow different audio streams. time for the bigger esport guys to push that forward and ask for such a feature.
To each their own I guess.
But watching a tournament without commentary is a no go for me. Then you might as well just go on youtube and watch the matches there.
There are commentary duos that can make a game entertaining that you don’t even like. To me it is such an important part to have commentary on stream. Granted, not every commentator is good and you won’t like every commentator of course, but it can really improve the hype and makes a tournament a real event instead of just some matches with pro players.
And I think we are, as fighting game fans, in a very lucky position right now when it comes to commentary.
I was always quite the allrounder when it comes to video games, enjoyed multiple genres over the years and I also watched multiple tournament streams for the different games. I watched WoW PvP (due to the fact that I played this game for like 10k hours), League of Legends, DotA2, Smite, Overwatch, Starcraft, Warcraft, Counter-Strike etc. And they all got 1 problem imo, they are all very e-sports like and there is a certain stiffness when it comes to commentary (I know Xyclops is coming from DotA2 but he is one of the few exceptions).
In the FGC, it is also heading towards e-sports, but at the same time, there is still the ghetto feeling in some events and one of the reasons are the commentators. And they have the great opportunity to mix it up. Like pick 1 serious e-sports commentator who knows the game very well and then get 1 ghetto hype commentator and you got the perfect duo imo.
At Thaiger Uppercut, I greatly enjoyed the duo they had for Top 8. Jiyuna was the calm one who knows stuff about the game and keeps it serious, while Xyclops was going crazy and hyped up the matches quite a lot.
I know not everyone will like this guy. It’s the same with Zhi, it’s hit or miss for people, but I think having the option and opportunity to use polarizing commentators like Xyclops at certain events makes the FGC pretty diverse and keeps it entertaining.
Thank you Twitter.
Problem is youtube doesn’t have the matches without the trash commentary either.
I just want the game audio, not some asshat saying stupid crap and trying to make things “hype.”
Just put the commentary on a separate audio channel that you can shut off, problem solved.
Until then I’ll just continue to ignore streams.
Xyclops actually reminded me of old AM radio football commentators.
They would get super hype and talk non stop whenever one team was close to the goal.
It was quite nice to see the same thing happen at a fighting game stream.
@akhos I definitely think that mixing up between Ed’s fireball and the V Skill will help him think about more and get you jumped on less. Fireball can likely catch his shallow jump pretty easily and then when he’s decided to stay grounded you can get more room for V Skill
You’re getting better at AAing which is good. Psycho rising at the right range is really good for motionless AA. Don’t have to try and pump a motion or anything, you can just do it almost with a thought reaching your head. If he has V Trigger I’m sure there’s options for preemptively stuffing the the sweep, but heavy buttons like that you have to be careful with because of CC property. I mean with VTC’s theyre going to get it started one way or the other so the safest way to be patient is just to block the sweep and let him rip. Might have to guess one mix up, but then if you get a shot V Reversal or 3 frame out and then get back your space. It’s somewhat of an inevitable situation unless you can build a safe, reactionary answer everytime for the sweep. If he doesn’t have VTC then yeah I’m sure you can come up with something to keep him from abusing it.
Past that, yeah it’s the same things. One day you’ll have more pressure off your s.MP’s and yeah there’s always time to work on flicker execution. Which input do you use for c.MK flicker?
cr.mk + lp -> mp -> lp -> mp
I can do it in training just fine but when I get into a match I screw it up, just like everything else
This game has a way of humbling me, even when I know I’m shit. Really thought I was progressing, now I’m sinking like a stone against scrub tactics.
Imma scream into a pillow for a second, then get back out there.
Thus I present you with a challenge. For your next 3 games, you’re disallowed from using c.MK xx Psycho Upper. You’re only allowed to cancel into Psycho Flicker from c.MK.
We all fall for scrub tactics once in a while.
Specially when you get angry over it and start to react slower. Then you keep falling at them more and more.
Just take a small break, focus back and go back to the game. I lost count how many times I fell back to super bronze when I was almost getting to silver the first time.
Now I keep falling back to silver when I am so close to ultra silver.
But I keep trying. I stop when stuff isn’t working any more, have a a break, maybe a drink, calm myself down, focus and go back to the grind later or the next day and do better.
You can too.
After I have some coffee, I will log and watch some of your replays to offer more input.
I am pretty sure I will be able to suggest some stuff you can do to deal with the scrub tactics you are running into at super bronze levels.
That would be really cool, thanks.
OK, some stuff that I have found out.
I will watch some more replays to see if I can find anything else.
So I think I may be dropping Ed for Zeku after all
Unless Falke releases soon
Thanks for this feedback and the games. Definitely found it to be helpful, and I’m starting to understand the usefulness of st MK.
Don’t let it get to you too much.
Part of improving is riding through the ebbs and flows of feeling like you really know what you’re doing then you get fucked up for an entire afternoon and question if you should be playing fighting games at all. If you check in here or on discord with any regularity you’ll see that plenty from a lot of people.
The important part is not going too crazy about it and learning from what went wrong. Bea gave you some good advice. I can check some replays too if it’ll help.
Also I’m still up for those sets. Running some training exercises may help as well. I’ll have some decent pockets of availability this week so lemme know if you’re up for that.
Also regarding Xyclops: while I don’t like his commentary I respect the hell out of it. He is selling hard trying to commentate a game in a language that is clearly not his primary one, which has to be really challenging when you’re also trying to keep up with the match.
It’d be like me trying to commentate a KOF event with my shitty Spanish. I give him mad points for effort.
Sounds good. I’ll try to get in the habit of checking to see if you’re online when I fire up the game. Thanks for the offers.
