E3 had some cool stuff already. I’m all on board for DMC5, cast and remodels be damned. New FromSoft game looks rad too.
I also agree with DevilJin that no matter what they say, DoA6 is gonna have dem tiddies. When SFV is pushing sexy outfits you know damn well the game that taught everyone it was a good idea for the wallet is going to do it. Maybe they won’t lean into it as hard. So long as it plays well, its all good.
Finally got a dog this weekend. His name is Ivan and he’s a very good dog. Also huge. Haven’t had a chance to play much because of it but he’s getting settled in and we’re getting back to a normal groove so hopefully I can get back to normal practice and getting matches in. Also played some Cross Tag. Game is nuts but fun. Great way to get my animu fix.
I’m glad Froz is excited for Cody. Hopefully he and all the other Cody faithful have fun laying the pipe later this month.

It was one of the selling points of the series and some people liked it. Don’t know why everyone’s being judgmental now that something people liked about a series they loved is being changed explicitly to favor a different audience, regardless of how ‘petty’ you think it is.
Clearly there’s a group of people who cared about it and feel somewhat betrayed that their fandom is being thrown under the bus. They’re allowed to feel that way.

Basically agreed on that Akuma is overall best with others following close.
I agree with 3 frame normal being very important for top tier as it reduces the amount of frame traps and meaties the opponent can perform on you. Falke is the first 4 frame light character that I’ve used as a secondary and you definitely feel the difference when you can’t check Fang’s s.HK traps or Ibuki’s s.MK traps without busting out an EX reversal or V Reversal. Forces you have to block and burn resource more often to deal with the same shit that others can for less work. Luckily as far as Guile, he has one of the best EX reversals and just does about the best job of flooding the space before it gets to that point.
Bipson jumped up to higher tier pretty much the instant he got a 3 frame button and he has one of the longest 3 frame buttons in the game. Ibuki specifically has both a 3 frame jab with short range and a 3 frame special move with great range. Both allow her to defensively create space in situations that others just can’t. Then still has an EX DP and a V Reversal that knocks down.
The other stuff is typical points about top tiers or how they work in the game.

To be fair though,
I personally rate the derp strong v triggers as more of a factor. It’s not just the comeback factor/mixups they enable, its how theyre initiated to begin with and it’s IMO the biggest design flaw in this game.
When i have an opponent with a strong v trigger cornered, I feel like I’m the one guessing since there is little to no counter play. you just gotta hold that fireball cancel into v trig into mixup after mixup, and EVEN guessing right kills all the previously earned momentum, loses all the real estate, and places you in a bad spot overall. It’s the most braindead shit in this game, and a horrid design flaw. There is no work or thought out neutral involved and just winning neutral because you can cancel some goofy shit into v trigger and then proceed go ham without so much as dedicating a sungle brain cell is… Considering a strong v trigger on guile’s archetype and it completely ruins all of the hard work and life lost earning that real estate in the first place. i can bitch about it all day.
These top tiers dont really care as much about being cornerd either, and just near neutralizing a fundamental aspect of the game with relative ease is also a huge factor. Naturally, if theyre harf to keep in the corner, theyre also usuallu hard to escape when they corner you. food for thought

V triggers are always the strongest part of the game, there’s just a lot of crap you dont have to deal with frame trap wise if you have a 3 framer. In the video they admit that Ibuki is probably not top 5 if her VT2 isn’t as good as it was. I’m used to cheap stuff in games though so V Trigger isn’t too far off from being one ST Rog super away from losing all of your life if you do anything with recovery or ST Claw taking entire matches back off one knockdown. Oh and the good old pressing c.MP 10 times and getting a comeback mechanic that destroys the neutral with Yun.
With Guile though I think overall he’s pretty honest as a top tier now. Forcing his VT1 to be the best trigger means he will have to burn V Reversals to win matches most often now so he usually wont have it till he’s pretty low on life. Which the trigger itself cant swing back as hard as other triggers. If you’re playing a bad character Guile is a problem, but if you’re playing a good one he’s under a lot of pressure these days also for a top tier. Which characters like Menat work against his gameplan now as well forcing him to move in and not rely on booms as much.
Cody should be fun for you though. Finally get to use one of the ungas to out unga the unga. Definitely gonna be better than Ken.
