His Ruffian kicks look really bad too
I just realised something.
I remember when Momochi suggested to make combos have âoptimal timingâ for more damage than standard combos. For example if you hit a 3 frame combo in SFV, but you hit it perfectly on 1 frame, itâll do more damage.
Maybe Capcom remembered this and the Uprocks and Pipe CMD Grab are a way to make him play Cody
Optimal timing for Codyâs stuff makes the move work, no extra benefit
The timing thing on the command grab may as well just not exist, completely useless addition unless it allows some juggles with the unoptimal timing in corner
Coders looks gud. If I was a man of the male culture Iâd plays FF Alt with pipe so I could pipe ninjas.

I think every SFV Ruffian kick look much better than in IV where they had one of animation in total as Cody slides four yards away.
Bout if you could make this work
Command grab > upward rock > command grab them on wake-up into unoptimal timing > rock hits them to let you RECIPRO EXTEND-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Some of his normal animations are a bit rough but his whiff animations are awesome. Killing someone with a CC s.hk into the hair flick is gonna be sick
His Super can be confirmed off of regular hit s.mk, probably pretty good for getting damage. EX Zonk is probably going to see a good amount of use, since you can derp it into V-trigger or extended pressure. Same with EX Fireball
if they wanted to make knife interesting they shouldâve made it do chip dmg as far as i know theres no reason to pick vt1 over 2
Knife will be buffed in S4 for now itâs the year of the pipe.
I kinda like the simplicity of Knife Trigger. You gotta get your timings right n shit for Pipe Trigger, Iâm a Rashid main I donât have time for that
VT2 will probably be close to mandatory vs Guile though.
Safe to say after watching others use Cody, heâs going to win his first tournament.
The last two streams have actually better on the US stream. They actually show off what the character can do in detail.

Edit: okay after watching the showcase the VT2 is definitely gonna save Cody in this game i take back most of what i said
I find it amusing that Capcom basically built Cody from the ground up and still retained his most obvious flaw from SF4, his shitty defense .
Anyways, He looks fun. I am 100% certain that he will get a 3F normal in the next balance patch but for now, i will roll with it.
Cody in a way remind me of Balrog but much more technical. He is about burst damage and counter poking and while he doesnât bypass zoning easily, it looks like he himself have a pretty decent zoning game.
St.lk st.mp and cr.mp all look very nice and MK ruffian looks reliable as a counter poke and with the mediums you can get ex ruffian reliably and then juggle with LK Ruffian for oki or hk for damage .
I like that he can combo cc st.hk>F.HK> V-skill and that sequence builds around a full gauge of V-bar which is great.
I need to see how his cr.HP can be used because we havenât seen much of it.
Ex zonk looks pretty strange . It looks like a Rog style ex dash punch in a way, just a move you can throw out there with very little care and be plus. However the complete lack of invinciblity on it makes me question the need for it to be a TAP move.
Cody looks like gets more damage than average from his lights which is good . Most of his lights lead into around 150 damage which is pretty decent in this game.
He finally have a cr.LK cr.lp into special which is a flaw he had in sf4 so finally having a low confirm seems alright .
I wonder how reliable his VS will be vs aerial approaches like Akumaâs ex flips and Cammyâs DKs.
Generally he looks fun, i think he will struggle heavily vs the top tiers but i can see his damage output being a saving grace vs 900HP characters .
I wanna see how important and fast his VT2 CG is, because that could be a HUGE part of his pressure game. If you can tick after say an ex zonk or a light then it have potential to be really important . 220 damage into oki is very impressive.
Overall, he looks like fun. He looks technical and with VT2, he have some really interesting options.
I liked everything I saw other than his frame data and Zonk not going under fireballs
