Don’t act like SFIV Cody was interesting or unique, Cody was very simplistic in IV and he was as honest as they come. His normals were the only characteristic trait he had, due to his command normals.
His V-Triggers in V do the character more justice than IV did in regards to making him feel like FF.
I mentioned it in twitch chat and got chewed out for it but what is the point in bringing back a fan favorite only to completely overhaul a moveset to the point it is almost unrecognizable from his Alpha or USFIV iteration. I don’t give a shit about Final Fight, i want his SFV version to be somewhat similar to his other SF version.
I keep getting burned with this game, first Juri, now Cody.
You’re all gonna disagree with the negatives things people mentioned about Cody but if it we’re your character that you waited a long time for and they turned out to be ASS you’d be mad too.
Maybe I’m wrong and shouldn’t look at Cody with sf4 glasses on, I’ll wait till he’s released and people discover new things with him and see if I change my mind.
Something I don’t get: Cody wasn’t GOOD in SFIV. He had some success here or there, but the design was flawed in a way that was never going to get him to be very good. Porting it to SFV, a drastically different game, would probably be a bad idea.
I’d rather they try and fail with something new then something that was already kind of crap in another game. For the record, I think giving Cody a command grab, a real projectile, and the ability to reflect projectiles is a way more interesting concept than just CH traps, a bad projectile, and moves that are okay at best at getting him through fireballs
Not trying to be cold, but fans of Final Fight Cody have been dealing with impostor Cody for two decades. It’s nice to have the real Cody show up. The Cody you were a fan of wasn’t supposed to be Cody in the first place. They just named him “Cody” because the name had more value.
I think this is the first new character in a while with a traditional projectile that looks worth regularly throwing in neutral. Interesting to see how that goes
SF4 Cody was a bad man. A closer version of him from that game MAYBE would have skyrocketed the character into the top 10 immediately. SFV Cody has still interesting things, it’s too early to judge without having the character available yet. If the fun factor of using him it’s still there, most people will be happy. What I’ve found fun about him and Makoto in SF4 were the command normals, honestly is a little letdown not seeing them again.
I need time to process SFV Cody, he doesnt have the things gameplay wise from previous games that i enjoyed, on first glance. This is regardless of how good he end up being but the ultimate blow would be him sucking ass.
I’ll give him an honest shot and i’ll TRY to play him with an open mind.
I’m in the same boat, seeing him lose all his command normals hurts.
