SFV Lounge: SRK Cross Tag Battle

We know good and well them folk ain’t loyal, with their fake wanna be fan, SF hatin tails. Whole ton of other games to play, while they stay hatin on one amazing game that only continues to get better over time.

And might I add - I’ve been around the other communities and this right here by far fosters some of the best camaraderie that we’ll see (maybe r/StreetFighter too).

I feel like most of those people are the people you see on twitter, so I just dont go on twitter.

i doubt that they will bring a new fighting game out in the next years.
sfv dlc updates it is till sfvi arrives.
ed- and a last mvci update.

I’m on Twitter quite a bit, but I ignore the noise. Works out nicely.

I still use it to look at random tech or just see when a tournament is going on, but I don’t tweet or read the peanut gallery tweets. So for the most part I don’t use it.

Had a long sparring match with a new training buddy with the best connection I’ve played in a while.
The big take-away for me was that Falke is pretty good under optimal circumstances, my Ed needs more work, and Blanka suffers in long sets. I also don’t have a Mika anymore :frowning:

I really feel that dude. I recently got clean off Facebook and deleted it for good. After using it for over 10 years, it’s not really a service I felt was a great use of my time. But like you I’m getting some definite use outta Twitter. I hope it becomes way more popular than FB one day. At least I don’t have to concern myself with Cambridge Analytica messing around.

Why did we let this happen…

It still hurts

Finally made it to 15k, now I have a decent buffer in Diamond but I still want to get to at least 16k before I can truly feel comfortable. But man I’m taking such a beating. Only 39 wins in my last 100 ranked matches. I’m having flash backs to last year when I was a regular plat getting destroyed by all kinds of players in the ranks above mine.

I faced the Laura army tonight and re-realized that I still don’t know how to deal with her mix ups and pressure. But the most eye opening thing I experienced was the higher ranked Birdie players. They would not let me get away with any up close fireballs, I was getting zonk’d consistently. I try to fight up close and get destroyed by Birdie’s superior normals. Backing away won’t last long because they’ll just close the distance and I’ll end up cornering myself.

I didn’t have to deal with this in the plat leagues. I always played Birdie at that range and it was effective for the most part. Now that has been shattered and I feel like I have to relearn how to deal with Birdie again. Which sucks because this is the way I like to play and I feel like Birdie completely nullifies it.

@Rice_Eater I hear you about that. Managed to play for around 2 hours yesterday and I lost a dizzying amount of games and sets across it. The challenge level between the players I was used to and what I am running into now is widely different and I’m still learning how to deal with that.

Ranked Session 2 Report:
I was actually really surprised to end the session slightly up from where I started. There was a time where I dipped back down into Super Silver and I figured that I may be better off retiring to JRPGs and other old people games. I lost the majority of my initial sets, including my warm up games, and damn is that demoralizing. Thankfully I managed to turn it around. Apparently I am exactly 3800 LP worth of skill.

The one thing that was nice was that anyone that I ran into a second time, I won the sets against. Including a Gold Birdie, which was satisfying, and making a Bison quit the set. I also think my pressure with Laura is getting a little better. It is so damn important to be able to make momentum count with her and previously downbacking would mostly defeat me. Now at least I’m able to keep pressure up more often with Avante cancels and some staggered buttons which I’m seeing result in more stuns and cornering.

I still need to work on AAs. I don’t use HP Bolt enough, I was still trying to jab AA (sort of had that beat out of me but I need to keep that habit dead), and I have a really bad habit of hitting back + MP to AA which results in MP Clap instead of st.MP, which in turn results in eating a sweet jump in combo.

Also need to get better about just holding my ground and being patient. Most of the time when I get blown up I feel like its because I’m hitting buttons at bad times (often clearly bad times) or I’m teching when I shouldn’t be. In general I think I get too nervous on defense and end up doing dumb stuff like that. Thankfully Ranked is full of psychos so I’ll get plenty of practice blocking.

The upside of ending on winning sets is that I feel more motivated to get back to it then if I ended on losses, even if I’m mostly treading water. Its going to be serious baby steps to get to Platinum. I need to be able to actually hang in Gold first, then slowly climb up the rungs. It feels doable, which is good, but I also know I need a lot more practice and will probably take a good number more beatings before I’ll really start to gain traction.

You can totally do it.
I know exactly how that feels. I had hit that wall on ultra bronze and then silver recently.
But you are a much more skilled player than me so I am 110% sure you will get back to gold soon and start your climb to plat! pom poms

So I ended ranked last night significantly better than the night before. I really have to remember how amazing Birdie’s normals are instead of immediately going for the special move kill, which usually leads to a fast KO. When I’m in neutral on defense the lights have led to accumulating damage and frustration on my opponent’s end. This is starting to feel good.

I also did some recon and found out that my win percentage is under 50% against almost half the cast. So I’m definitely gonna hit YouTube before I warm up and get into ranked. Time to learn these match ups so people can’t get away with BS on me.

Because you don’t want to move from here :coffee:

On another note Falke was one of the lowest used DLC characters in this games fucking history lmao.

And Kolin is still the lowest used female in the game (I’m not counting Menat because we all know why no one plays her.

Kolin needs zonks so more people will use her with accessible controls.

Thanks B :grinning:

We will all ascend on wings of muscle power and gumption.

I thought VT2 would make Kolin way more popular but she only got popular with pros and even then most of them would rather stick with their mains through hell or high water.

I think Kolin is a good function and has everything I want in a character outside of a brain dead get off me move.

On the one had I’m sad shes not more popular but on the other hand I thank God I don’t have to suffer through tier whore mirror matches.

I did a FT10 set with a Kolin friend of mine and it was super fucking close and had me stressing out. It was like I was fighting my fucking doppelganger.

Yeah she has good tools without being super raggo now. s.HP is still safe as long as you space it basically and still really good with VTC. I’d like to have a character that doesn’t just have to look at Blanka balls and Rashid shit. Sak gives me dash up s.LK punishes on balls but not gonna super scare him.
