SFV Lounge: SRK Cross Tag Battle

I saw that looking through my Favs (yup, I’ve put you there time ago), you did almost 6k points in 2/3 days. Seems yesterday when you were struggling to get Gold, time has wings. Congrats bro.

About Ranked. I think people need also to consider the chosen character to grind, some of 'em seems perfect to rank up easily than the rest. I mean, no doubt someone with Necalli or Bison has more possibilities to go up than someone who choose Vega or even Sakura for it. Definitely playing more could help in finding a standard game plan, I’ve noticed how in Platinum people tries to steal turns more often than in Gold and I’m starting to get used to. Using an honest character doesn’t help me anyway, but at least I’m having fun with Zeku.

Just 3 more years and he’ll be irrelevant/gone for the next 20 years

Definitely agree.

Considering some of the major factors such as lag and erratic play styles, some characters are just better suited at dealing with flow charting and exploiting/punishing predictable play.

People say Blanka is meh, but he will get you to at least gold without much trouble. Lock them down with electricity, frame trap or punish them and your average wins/losses will rank you up real quick.

This talk of erratic play reminds me of how my opponents will go completely nuts when they’re in comeback mode. Say I start off good and have a big life lead. Then my opponent finally finds some momentum and scores a combo or two before I finally escape, still with a life lead. At this point they will stop at nothing to not give me space. They start dashing or jumping blindly because I guess they feel like they can’t afford to let me breath. And I must say it has worked out a lot unfortunately lol.

I can’t tell you how many times I tried to stop my opponents pursuit and guessed wrong. I go for a sweep and they jumped before then and land a cross up. Or I throw a fireball and they jumped early enough that I can’t block/DP it. I sit still and do nothing and they dash in and throw me into more madness. And my favorite, I have plenty of space and throw a fireball thinking everything is cool but my opponent is someone like Laura and did a EX elbow. Not on reaction though, it was done preemptively just because they were so desperate.

As much as I lose to the madness I win because of it as well. If I get away and have VT then of course I’m going to whiff cancel a fireball and the crazy dashes or magical jump ins aren’t going to work. Of course I’m guilty to of doing this myself, but I try to recognize when the fun is over and that I need to calm myself down. I wish I could tell some of my opponents that. Just chill the fuck out, you can still easily beat me if you don’t kill yourself first.

Learning to backdash command grabs has definitely saved me from some Laura unga. Neutral jumping command grabbers that rely on neutral throws a lot like Laura will just get you slammed.

Finally made it to fraud super diamond a bit over 20100. I’ll work to get to 21,000 so I can be real boi super diamond. If I get to master then I’ll start using Falke in ranked and really push her. I know twin was watching my CFN’s to make sure I got there the right way. Lost to Wolfkrone again, but what can you do.

Of course I got there blowing up some ultra diamond/master akumas. I dont know, I feel like even if I used Sakura or Falke vs him I would be fine vs him. His neutral just doesn’t scare me at all, it’s just even easier with Ibuki.

This is your reward DevilJin. Don’t worry I know in real life you just let out a loud OG HNGGGG sound

Glad Jin is with the big bois now. I decided yesterday to play casuals cuz I’m a pussy and won most of my matches. I beat a diamond Laura and fought GO DEEJAY who got to Master and switched to Akuma. Dudes got pretty good neutral but he couldn’t handle Kolin’s b.HK aka the god button.

I’m gonna try to get to 20500 just to not look like a punk. But I’m not gonna rush it. Still gonna do mostly battle lounge and casuals for a bit.

Fighting everyone here and not running into rank every damn day helped me get a tiny tiny tiny bit better.

That looks really weird. Who thought removing the coat on the bottom and the leotard at the top was a good idea? I mean either remove the coat entirely or the leotard (NSFW) entirely but not this weird thing in between.

I think it looks good. The black and silver one gives it a post apocalyptic Mad Max Doll vibe.

I’d hate to ask you about Bison’s default outfit then lol…I mean look at Cammy also…SF was never known for outfits that makes sense shrugs I think it looks pretty cool in the right colors outside of it being lewd

So I know character models get outsourced, but do those people also do the animations? Or is that Capcom?

Day one patch to allow vs and training modes. Sounds like Papa Capcom. Also sounds like only the 4 online games will have training modes and the others will only have versus modes. Unless they mean the other games will have less robust training modes, but better to assume not there until it is.

Cool that the switch version gets the LAN tournament edition of Super SF2. Hooked up 8 cabinets for 8 man tournaments. The Genesis and SNES versions of SSF2 also had it as a mode and you could have 8 people in the room taking turns on the controllers in the tournament.

Here’s a little bit about my progress to Diamond:

Last night made it to 10873 LP and my matches are getting easier, since my sparring session with DJ a few weeks back. Happy I’m no longer a fraud Super Platinum lol.

In addition I’m finally in the market to get the tournament standard BENQ RL2460. I’m cancelling everything today to get the monitor after work. I’M STOKED Y’ALL.

So what’s the current match up tiers for low tier Falke?

Glad I could help out. Yeah basically I felt if you just blocked every once in a while you would get hit less on defense and find more opportunities to counter poke once people try to shimmy you. You should be getting up there and Birdie still good.

I think she can fight most of the top tier pretty decently. Guile is probably her hardest match of the top tier but I dont think he’s unwinnable and just have to learn projectile patterns to deal with his. V Trigger helps slow down his fireball game and give her room to get in and shotgun blast at closer range can stop attempts to boom.

Basically you can pretty much control whether or not Cammy gets in since her AA is really strong and keeps out dives. You can use f+HP vs her unless she has super since pushback on f+HP doesn’t allow EX spiral arrow punish. Good for crush counter fishing and keeping her from preemptively jumping.

Akuma isn’t too bad. You can preemptively neutral jump with j.MP to stop most of his air stuff. If he goes for air fireball you’ll stuff him out of the start up and if he does EX demon flip you’ll usually be above whatever he is trying to do and he burns a bar. Which means if you see him EX flip you can likely come down with an air button to do a combo. Can low shot under his regular fireballs which cant touch you from full screen and can also low shot his red fireballs. If played right seems like you can pretty much force him to play with buttons and demon flips only. Which is still good, but better than dealing with the whole gamut of things like other characters have to.

Menat seems doable. She doesn’t have block punish for f+HP unless she has super from what I’ve seen. She can reflect low shot pretty easily and EX soul throw AA her air fireball so have to be more careful with fireballs, but that’s fine since Falke still has long ass buttons any way so she can actually contend with Menat’s range. Once you get v trigger your v trigger shots cant be reflected so that forces her out of being able to use those as easily to deal with your fireballs.

So far though it seems like…

Fights pretty well (due to short/lower priority buttons that can’t contend with her long buttons, fireball game gets low profiled by low shot, have trouble jumping in or limited ways around air fireball) - Akuma, Cammy, Chun, Ryu, Ken, Necalli, Kolin, Zeku, Sakura, Ed, Ibuki, Gief, Karin, Abi

Kinda rough (due to punishes on f+HP, ground/air fireballs or can close the gap quickly with command grab unga) - Alex, Mika, Laura, Vega, Juri, Nash, Bison, Birdie, Sim, Fang, Rog, Urien, Rashid

Probably bad but not terrible - Guile, Menat

That basically sums up my experience online so far except I think Guile will be a EZ match up after some time has sunk in

fhp to stuff his booms and low shotting under them is fun

True that’s why I used the word probably bad because I think people just need to explore the options more vs Guile and Menat. 14 frame start up with the range on f+HP and no block punish means it’s probably decent at catching booms. Especially when you’re guaranteed to get CC if you catch the boom.

More random stuff.

Been messing around with Falke’s f+HP more and it seems that so far I’ve only found Rog as a character that can EX punish max range f+HP on block. For a move that initially appears weak on block data at minus 10, the range that you can make it contact people from is so far that it seems a lot of fast ex moves still can’t do shit about it. Chun’s EX legs cant punish it, Laura’s EX elbow can’t punish it, Urien’s EX tackle can’t punish it, Blanka’s ex ball can’t punish it. Basically without super probably a lot of characters that can’t do shit. Having these type of properties on a move that is a heavy for priority winning and causes CC is strong.

The hit box/hurt box is also kinda fair looking with the hit box inside the hurt box, but I’ve had it land on CC and hit in general way too often for the hit box to make a real case for the button. Seems the CC priority system helps it land a lot as long you aren’t throwing it out there super willy nilly to get it clipped. It’s also extremely easy to whiff punish BUT, a good Falke will never whiff it on the ground unless the opponent jumps because the range is just too absurd to miss on a grounded opponent. You’ll make contact unless they jump once you know the range pretty free. At 14 frame start up it still starts up 6 frames faster than Abi’s s.HP.

I’ll do more testing and see what I come up with. Think that’s a big thing for whether or not Falke does well in a matchup. Cammy, Akuma, Guile and Menat all can’t punish max range on block without super (and certain ones probably cant do full max range even with super).
