Falke has one really good matchup.
Other new Falke players who are on the brink of despair at how much work this character needs to get a win.
8-2 at least.

Nevermind dot dotdot
Falke is at least 7-3 against Gief, so at worst she has 2 good MUs!
Yeah, I assume sheāll at least beat up on grapplers. Can she keep that crazy bitch Laura off though?
Falke the fastest heel turn in SFV?
So far as far as matchups go the easy ones are the one where the character cant move in and out very fast. Like Abigail if you keep your spacing its very hard to get hit by him other than sweep VTC or lucky j.HK. Then the other spectrum is stuff like Vega where he moves too damn fast for especially day one Falkes to handle. Gonna take time to learn how to optimize which button to hold vs characters that invade neutral quickly and such.
Laura will probably be a problem for that too. She canāt quite swing s.MK around like she used to but if she wants to get in she has full screen moves and decent jump buttons to try it with. With the nerfs though probably wonāt be seeing a lot of Lauras anymore either way.
Short ranked grind tonight, but ended up netting 200 LP more and got out of there with 7 wins and 4 loses.
Not ideal, but this is still improvement. On the weekend I was struggling with bronze and super bronze people and today I was taking a positive win ratio over silver people.
Still, I shouldnāt have fucked up that DP input that lead to my 1st loss to Juri and to the loss of my 9 win streak and I should have trusted my inputs a bit better against a super silver Ryu despite the fact that he was lag teleporting and my win ratio would have been 9-2.
Alas, lessons to be learned. Watching those replays now to figure out where else I fucked up to try to work on those areas.
Can someone fire Woshige real quick before Cody comes out?
So far S3 is two duds and a Blanka, Iām not letting that happen to my boy.
Wellā¦I wouldnāt go SO far as to say the hitbox match the visuals. But itās fairly accurate for the most part.
Itās a sad day when Smash of all games gets this the least wrong. Punching the sword to clank is still stupid, but at least the swordie isnāt actively hurt by it.
Iām proud of Bea <3
did yorkey die?
Graphics donāt matter. :^)
Still need a lot of time for Falke to marinate before we say she sucks. Admittedly, she doesnāt look too strong at the moment, but seems like she might be useful as a pocket character at least for certain matchups.
I just want Cody to be fun. I mained him in IV even though he never got past low mid in that game. Strangely enough his style actually suits the meta in V better than it did IV. I certainly hope heās as strong as Alpha 3 but again just hoping heās fun.
G is a wildcard. Like what is going on with this character?..
Sagat is guaranteed to be busted. Thereās no way Capcom is going to make us/Bonchan wait this long and then have the fan favourite character suck. Itās not going to happen. Heās also one of those SF characters that itās an āinjusticeā if heās bad. Heās going to be OP for sure.
Mmmmmmā¦debatble. But in a top[ 10 āwhat needs to be in a video gameā Iād rate graphics at the number 10 spot.
Hey ryu, sakura whatās up?
I donāt disagree with some of Valleās impressions, but that āpunishable normalsā bit grinds my gears
Forward Fierce, as far as being punishable, Iām listening. But the fact that stand fierce and crouch strong are negative in no way means they are going to be punished if you take all of five seconds to look at the average range they are going to be used and know that, no, they probably are never going to be punished. Dumb take.
Falke doesnāt have a normal thatās more unsafe than minus 4 other than a c.HP thatās used for AA and her sweep which isnāt too bad since it apparently moves her forward when she does it
Like her spread for block normals is
Plus 3 = s.LK, s.MP
Plus 2 = c.LK, c.LP, s.LP, df+HK
Minus 2 = s.MK, c.MK
Minus 3 = s.HP, s.HK
Minus 4 = c.MP
EDIT: Minus 10 = f+HP but you use that from such an absurd range that its tough to punish and still very good as a VTC starter and made safe with VT1 cancels.
Basically every normal that you need to poke with is no worse than minus 3 and the normals that are minus 3 or 4 are used from ranges where youāre going to punish with jack shit other than like a few characterās supers. While having more plus 2 and 3 lights then probably most any other character. Like as good as Menat is they do know that all of her orb equipped normals canāt be blocked from too close of range as their block data is pretty bad. Falke can more traditionally force her normals on block
Safe as all hell and pretty dang plus is the way to describe her normals on block.
Ryu was around top tier in S1 though when he came out.
Sak you have a point, sheās super popular in Japan. But still I donāt think has the same world wide popularity as Sagat. I think Sagat will get the Akuma treatment. Especially since heās the last DLC before the next patch.
Whatās weird to me is that the talking point of SFV only being about heavy rushdown and dumb offense has been burrowed so deep that people are ignoring that the current crop of top tier characters are mostly those who make it so moving is a liability BEFORE their offense gets going. Akuma is not rushing in guns blazing with regular demon flip and air fireball like a madman, itās the difficult to approach normals and fireballs and strong AA that then set up EX Demon Flip and strong oki, etc. Same with Menat and Guile. Cammy would be the closest it gets to just having a move that gets her in (Cannon Strike) as a means of enforcing her rushdown. Bison used to be, but even now he gets by on the strength of his footsies rather than just doing a move and game over.
I understand that the game has a bad rep, and I happen to share the thought that itās homogenized and fairly linear, but the discussion shouldnāt ignore the things actually winning when we start judging characters and their role. Falke may very well be an underwhelming character, but before we get there, we canāt ignore strong AA and grounded normals, because they are something the good characters have in spades.
