For what it’s worth I find that getting actual confirms and muscle memory stuff like that down in matches is way harder than any amount of practice at it. I’ve practiced hit confirming MP Bolt from cr.HP with Laura a bunch in practice mode but I still fuck it up a lot in matches because I haven’t actually been focusing specifically on that while playing matches.
Its just about grinding away in matches, ranked or otherwise.
Our connection is kind of shaky but if you want to try to practice and the servers come back up in time you can throw kicks at my day 0 Falke.
You want to improve? Stop playing Ranked then. At least until you learned Sakura ins & outs. Doing Lounges and sometimes Casuals will help you get used to her without the pressure of losing points. That isn’t the Olympics 100m, learn a character for real and being good with is a journey, take your time. Ranked are for who felt completely comfortable with their characters.
I found casual to be well, too casual. It doesn’t have the same pressure as ranked and I learn less from it because people aren’t doing everything they can to win against me, using wake up supers, abusing ex reversals, using their cheapest tactics.
Besides, no pain, no gain and pain is just weakness leaving the body.
So I will take my ranked losses and the pain that come with that to assess improvement with Sakura.
True. I always believe the most important part of getting better at ranked is playing ranked. There are too many people I hear about that aren’t getting up in ranked and the main reason they aren’t is that they aren’t playing ranked. Whether they are afraid or tired or whatever. If you aren’t playing ranked, you aren’t going to rank up.
For others that are looking to build up in ranked, sometimes you’re going to have to find the same person in ranked and lose to them a few times before you assess their play style and are able to beat them. The main thing is to go over your losses in ranked and pinpoint the parts that are making you lose.
Being proactive about ranked will get you up there. Just playing it a few times and then going back to casuals on its own wont. You just get complacent.
Tournaments are the same way. You dont start getting top 3’s at your locals or get out of your pool at a major by staying home and playing online until the right time suddenly hits you. Jesus doesn’t come and say “it’s time for you to go to NCR and get out of your pool”
Ranked are also full jungle where doing dumb things can be useful to get a W. Probably I’m not too in love with them because I’m too used in playing offline which isn’t a bad thing if you’re looking to showing up at tournaments. The problem is not having enough matchups offline so playing online becomes necessary.
In the end if you’re getting better you’ll rank up regardless. Good players are going to get to Diamond, Super Diamond and up no matter how much of the jungle is out there. Especially if you can’t regularly go to tournaments you’re only hindering yourself by not playing the mode that accounts for wins and losses. Gotta put yourself in the ringer on and offline. Plus getting matchups that you wont get offline because certain characters are only played by specialists that you wont have in your region or local scene
I regularly get matches with great connections vs some of the local NY/MD/DC top players in ranked so no reason not to do it. Even when I fought LatinoDro/Bushin Style last night like 3,000 miles away in Cali it was pretty playable with just a bit of extra delay normal for that distance. Good way to get strong players to fight once you rank up without having to bother them for matches or find the right time to play them.
Dunno, maybe you’re right, probably I need to man up a little and do some Ranked again. I will play against players with horrible connections, but that’s happening to everyone. I’m not really interested in making points, but probably going into the jungle again can help me in learning how to sustain the nervousness I feel every time I gave Ranked a try. I’ve collected only a thousand Ranked matches since day 1, so fuck that. It’s strange, but I don’t feel nervous at all in tournaments, probably because of how much I’m used to live matches. Whatever, something else to learn.
I mean it’s just a game mode and there’s people who are still much more afraid to go to a live tournament any way. If anything you should feel less adverse to a game mode unless every match you play is super laggy.
If you are getting ample offline play then yes, it’s true that rank is less necessary or you could live without it, but most of the top players I know in my local area also regularly play ranked. Even running into CPT winners from farther out like NuckleDu. If they’re in ranked, no reason anyone else can’t be in ranked.
Every E-Sport has tiers fam. Even that moba top down garbage @Frost likes to play. Like you do realize that if a FG had prefect balance it would be stale as fuck to watch? Also if your statement was true then Dive Kick would have the audience of OW.
And OW has like 10 times the amount of viewership and players SFV has and guess what? It has tiers too.
You’re literally wrong about everything… how is this even possible!?
Balance is a funny thing to strive for considering some of the hype of older games was watching people who specialize in lower tiers take on the giants.
I will make my own fighter.
It will be two characters with one standing attack, no dashes or jumps.
It will be the most respected fighter ever created and be played at the Olympics.
You will all see my genius as soon as I figure out how to realise my idea in RPG Maker.
