SFV Lounge: Season 4 is almost upon us, hide your mains

I like games with strong Sagats even though I don’t play Sagats. I’m digging the strength of charge characters in this era though, it’s very reminiscent of some of the good ol’ days of SF2. Though, I’m not used to SF games with strong Bisons so this has all been quite a lovely experience on the competitive side of things to say the least. Hope it stays this way more or less.

SF5 is definitely short on Rose. I find it surprising that she is still not in. Chun-Li, Cammy, and Rose are like the holy trinity of female fighters. They should always have a home in SF.

Guys, guys, I got it… Gouken’s v-skill should be his “Here comes the hurt” back throw.

It was always annoying as f* when you “option selected” block and throw or throw tech but ate the opponent’s throw tech to low shorts because the back throw starts up 2 frames slower than everything else.

If he does make it in , i expect Capcom to try and implement his power of nothingness into his kit.

It’s going to be some sort of defensive skill i think, since he uses it to block Akuma’s demon.

Maybe some sort of super armor self buff he puts on himself or something that negates certain types of attacks, who knows really. The potential is huge.

I can see his backthrow returning, that thing was so hilarious to pull on people and tbh i just loved how backthrow into j mp cancel into tatsu looked.

Gouken V skill would surely be parry, but maybe with a difference on hit , like parry throw or parry tatsu.

Gouken is actually very SF5 ish already in his 4 version.

They’d screw his sweep though. Shit would be like 10 frames.

The old man’s sweep was godlike,i really doubt they would keep it as good as it was.

And you do have a fair point about his parry v-skill, it could be like Akuma’s but with different followups. All are shotos but with their own different touch.

Even though i really did not consider Gouken to be a true shoto, he was his own thing.

My personal picks would be

Gouken , Fei Long, Yang, T Hawk , Dan and Honda

Yes I like men.

I played all of those at decent level in 4. Mained Fei for years.

I’m not, I’m saying that as a meaty it’s currently -2 which is bad, but it’s also one of her go-to meaty options.

But on block, the low pushback allows st.mp > st.mk blockstrings.

That would be like exactly what Juri needs right now to round out her close game, alongside making her LK release +2.

It’s not like having his old sweep would matter in V, if you don’t have a fast dash to secure oki they’re just going to backrise and reset. In IV he got safe jumps, in V he’d just get a neutral scramble.

His walk animations were so cool, calm and collected that it would eventually lead to an advantage anyhow.

I hope his counter is nothing short of quarter circle back + punch just like Omega SF4/Kolin though.

T. Hawk was a bad mfcker in SF4. I hope to see Viper and Makoto and Rose even though I don’t really play them.

They should give her a VS that works like her FADC backdash in SF4.
No more crying about lack of defensive options.

Having a good sweep in 5 is literally game changing.

Karin, Birdie, Guile…

Frost, take those drugs I gave to your mum. Take two actually.

I can welcome those in bold with open arms, especially when done justice.

For the SF3 rep, Oro is the best candidate, and for SFA it will always be Rose. <3

Guile?

Karin/Birdie sweeps better for diff reasons than Gouken’s was but sure. I forgot he could just safe fish for CC sweep for vortex so it would be good.

I have a gaming laptop. It’s a lot easier to take with me when I travel than my PS4. Plus it doesn’t require a TV. Also I think I have ADHD. So I’ll play on my laptop while watching TV when I’m not traveling. Comes in handy on Sundays during football season.

Fei long rekkas would be -8 point blank… true. But EX REKKAS would be plus 2 on block and travel half the screen in 5 frames.

EX CHICKEN WING would be projectile invincible, have homing properties, move fullscreen and be plus on block.

Sf5. Your shit with no meter and a god with meter.

I can’t be the only old head that immediately thought of this

The costumes are only available in the Fighting Chance mode. It’s a lootbox scam to get you to drain your FM (which could’ve been substituted for guaranteed items they actually charge real money for), so you’ll eventually only have the option to pay real money to get certain things you want.

But what if there is something available im willing to pay real money for? Can you not obtain it?

Like can I not just pay $3.99 for OG Bison?

At the time being, you can’t purchase any of the outfits that were exclusive to that mode. So no OG Bison for sale, which is why it’s wack as fuck imo.
