Why is Sak low tier? Does Akuma just make her irrelevant?

Akuma makes all shotos irrelevant and that is why he sucks.

I really dont think thats the case. His fireballs are so good that if he gets a bunch of other buffs dumped on him as well as the inevitable top tier culling, he’s going to be top 10 easy.

I think he’s currently in that mid tier spot outside the obvious 12-15 that ppl currently debate for to 10

All these buffs for Cody , mid to high tier Cody? What’s going on. You guys have seen automattocks Cody online !!

Could it be he is in fact quite shite?

Also Sagat quite obviously needs these atrocities sorted

St.mk - 11 frame
Cr.fierce - 11 frame
St.fierce - 13 frame ( seriously)
Cr.mk - 10 frame
Cr.hk - 12 frame

That’s not a Thai fighter, its Joe from the pub after 8 Stella.

No it’s about all balance. I mean ryu’s character design is that he hits like a truck, strong fireball game combined with a powerful cr mk. But most of that hasnt returned in this game in the name of BALANCE. He has a fireball, that is his poke now instead of his cr mk.

When you make Bison’s close pressure game too strong, then you make other characters fighting them indirectly weak. And you can’t have that if your trying to balance the game.
The thing is i get why capcom gave him those buffs in s2, some were needed. However i also understand why he didnt have a 3 frame or his normals had big pushback on release. And the latter makes more sense to me.

Not really, only the low tiers, they are low tier because clearly they would be powerful with SIMPLE changes and capcom is clearly scared of that, fang and alex being example 1 and 2.

What would they fix on necalli, or bison or urien? even some of the solid mid tiers wouldn’t move up too much if at all.

But sakura, vega, alex, fang, even sagat…clearly they would be powerful and it wouldn’t take much.

Whilst most unanimously agree that bison is atleast top mid tier, most people that main still struggle with him, that’s because if not played perfectly he’s hard to consistently win with. Only problem x really seems to win with the character now. I mean you could be a bison player and you happen to eat jump ins all the time. However someone like problem x would never let that happen because he’d make sure you’d eat hell attack everytime. Players strongly vary how well they do with this character because it’s the just the nature of the char’s design.

Pretty much, with startup like that all those buttons need to be plus on block or be special cancel-able.

The question that has to be asked is…which characters do you want nerfed to living shit because it’s going to happen…not everyone can be A tier or even C tier…there HAS to be a Dee Jay tier…my vote…Juri…so I can feel good about my wins

Also having to wait 4 days for another part of a fucking costume is stupid as fuck and Capcom needs to stop this bullshit.

I’m into the ā€˜whatever’ kind of mindset about buffs and nerfs, it’s impossible making everybody happy. Surely some devs are in love with some characters, so it’s just a matter of time before the usual mayhem about S4 changelist. With the early release of Sagat and G Capcom devs had time to work properly on the balance of the game + newcomers, so I’m cool with it.

I don’t think you need to be perfect with Bison at all. Bison remains a threat throughout the round because he plays the SF5 game pretty well. He’s got a 3 framer, a fireball beater , a free get in, an incredible CC and a BS trigger. He’s a DP short of being probably the best character in the game.

Bison is one of the top characters online, the best player in my region plays bison, problem X won EVO with bison. Bison mains just Gona have to concede he is actually very good.

I dont think capcom nerf to ā€œutter shitā€ any character because they’re pretty on point with their initial designs. The two chars that got the biggest nerfs, Ryu and nash was mostly just universal changes. And in nash’s case a re-orientation in design from keep away to offense. Alex’s biggest nerfs in s1 were also universal changes.

I think being braindead like that is part of the character’s design, capcom intend bison to have free reign in attack and pressure. However the issue is opening people up, the character still needs to ake risks. And that is where you can win the game. I mean if you try to fight bison head on in neutral you’ll get mauled. You have to play a highly defensive game where you spontaneously switch from defence to rush down. And in that sense Bison seems fair.

I dont have an issue with that however my problem is that bison’s good matchups are just too good. Ryu, falke, sakura, etc.
I mean there’s a huge difference using falke/sagat and cody just in s3. Cody can do well against Bison using his normals and ex zonk alone, however falke (relies on neutral domination which bison just ignores) and sagat (fireball which bison has strong tools against) it’s really lopsided. I think the only zoner that does well against bison is guile, and even that matchup is 50-50.
And that’s just the design of the character. And i think capcom realised this in the beta phase of the game, hence, despite being a charge character he wasnt that strong. But big buffs in s2 made him obnoxious for a good chunk of the cast.

They should adjust the TTs like they did Karin, a bunch of subtle changes nothing too risky nothing too relaxed

i’m fine with everything as well…I just Juri’s VT2 revamped completely…Sagat’s VT1 also

Yeah, but top 10 at least in S3 would be just ok at best. Top 10 would only be good if S4 has an actual strong spread of tournament winning characters like S2 did.

His fireballs are good, but not good in the way that Guile’s booms are or Menat’s orb is where they set up offense and defense at the same time. Sagat’s zoning is more independent of his offense (which makes them less pertinent to overall strength). Just like SFIV he still has a long way to go if he doesn’t wanna be a character that’s not as optimal as other characters that can also space.

This is a classic example of haitani playing the bison matchup perfectly. Problem x just could not open him up. I mean he should’ve shared this strategy with Tokido before evo.

Thing is you can always have an iffy defence if your attack can cover it. The standard defence mechanics in the game are really strong for me and I’ve been saying that for a few seasons

3 frame, v reversal , block and walk, back roll, take throw.

With all the complaints since his release I can’t imagine Sagat being lower than top 10 next season tbh, his disciples cried a river since day one with Bonchan leading them. Capgods will please them.

I actually thought he was good. He simply has too many uneven match ups. I can’t think of a character that would lose to that many characters.

It’s kinda disheartening to be always up against it. Even the tourney I went to , 3 of my first 4 games were matches I’d consider bad.

It’s easy to see why Bonchan wouldn’t play him.
