The upsides were definitely better. Just the Cannons left us with poverty. Apparently theres an upgraded version of Discourse that allows reactions but they didnt get that one
Mr Wizard to spend money to get LOLs back?
I said decent poke. Akumas “pokes” are trash.
St.mk isn’t something I’d ever consider to be a poke. It’s a cancel move.
There’s your wot.
I lost all my “pre-sundering” stats. But I still have the post count.
Suffice it to say I was the best poster ever in the history of the site.
Don’t think so. Plus that’s the best Blanka in Japan and likely the world vs a pretty solid but not like top Ibuki. He’s a foreigner that lives in Japan (similar to Gunfight).
What answers does she have for LP Ball? I saw him trying to activate VT2 to punish (?) it, but it was quite ineffective.
VT2 should be an easy punish. Like it’s 7 frame start up and shoots across the screen instantly. Must have just had nerves or hit the execution bad during the block stun or something.
I believe at certain spacings EX kunai can punish also, but it’s best to just wait it out and until you get 2 bars so he basically can’t do anymore of them. LP ball isn’t even that good in this game so it’s not really a problem (rainbow balls are basically the new LP ball they got much stronger). Top level Blanka really isn’t about LP ball abuse, they just use it once in a while to check you.
Like I play Falke who has no punish for LP Blanka ball, but since I have so much experience playing ST Blanka and dealing with Blanka in SFIV it doesn’t bother me. I just block it down and it puts me back at the range I want to be with Falke any way. Cast Blanka used to trip me up but I was able to win the set vs him last time I played and there’s this Master Blanka (who recently deranked last time I played him) who I beat pretty easily also without worrying about ball punishes.
I’ll finish watching the match to analyze further and give more info.
Thanks for the insight. He got a reversal ground Kunai to punish, I think. It just seemed like Ibuki couldn’t play much. Like she got mauled in the air by Blanka’s jump arc, and I don’t think that Ibuki player had one solid sequence of consistent pressure. Whereas Nishkin landed almost everything he attempted.
So is Blanka CPT worthy or is he like Sagat, a character you can’t main solo?
I think it was a lot more about the player than anything else. Like I said, these are two different skill levels of players. One is higher ranked online, but there are lower ranked Ibukis online that are better than him. At that top 500 range it gets more muddled which high ranks are actually the top top and which ones are just good but have others better that dont play online as much.
As for that match specifically, Mattypie made a shit ton of mistakes. First round missed v trigger punish from full screen on a rainbow ball start up that I don’t even think was worth doing.
Next round Nishikin reacted to him jumping up in the air for air EX kunai. He got hit, but it juggled really bad and he couldn’t come up with the conversion. Neutral jump in general bodies air EX kunai especially if you’re quick and react to them jumping up (which is fast and has a rate of failure if you’re slow, but doable)
This gif pretty much sums up why he lost. Just lots of decision and execution errors that have nothing to do with the matchup.
For reference this was one of the first single elim/single match Japanese tournaments for Type Arcade
Narikun ( blue shirt guy very strong CFN warrior Ibuki since S1, used to be in top 100 IIRC) beat Nishikin pretty soundly in their match. He’s only a 71K GM ranked 338 online but he’s clearly a better player than Mattypie and played a lot cleaner.
Overall I think the matchup is about even. Blanka can stay out of the range of her buttons very easily because of back hop and rainbow ball shenanigans, but once she gets in he has no 3 frame and VT2 is free punish on a lot of his shit.
I think if Nishikin or Wolfgang work hard as hell Blanka has the tools to be CPT viable. At least enough to get in top 8. Has ok buttons, but pretty good whiff punish and counter poke tools and lots of ways to hang out and bait shit which is good in this game. Plus a 3 bar trigger that can rob pretty well (although more effective vs certain characters than others).
Has decent matchup spread minus certain ones that are kinda to pretty bad (Boxer, Gief, G) but luckily the top Blankas in the US/NA have varying opinions on which ones are really bad. Like certain one will say Gief is pretty bad, but then Cast Blanka says that Gief is pretty doable for him. I believe G is the one matchup they settle on as universally bad, but it’s G so only going to run into so many (could be more of an issue depending on how many start bandwagoning)
I kinda want to pick up Blanka. If you get cr.mk xx electricity down, then he turns on the chip damage pretty effectively.
Having a low that can go into plus frames is really good and rare in this game. Makes it hard to walk backwards vs Blanka and forces them to crouch which sets up other shit. His slide constantly forces people to crouch or get antsy about walking backwards also.
Yeah, its also something JiBbo pointed out on a stream. The last game of AngryBird Vs Problem X. In the last round Problem X activates bison v-trigger and then does like 200 points of chip damage.
If he hadnt gotten his dash punished for the win, he’d been like kne hit away from winning. Crazy stuff.
Narikun was so ready for almost everything. That OH on Blanka’s wake up was so effective. His AA game was mad on point to. I see why you call it an 5-5 match.
Does Nishikin travel much? I’m not sure who Wolfgang is…
Nishikin was at Evo IIRC (actually it was Evo Japan, so technically not travelling too far), but doesn’t travel too much outside of that for SFV. Hopefully Type Arcade or other things give him a bit more exposure to come to more US stuff. Seemed to be more common for him during IV. Though Blanka has only been out for like a year really so that’s a thing.
…what? Why?
You saw how much he doesn’t fit me
Or do you just hate Ed that much
I expected something longer, but that’s an answer.
Once you walk within a certain range he has plenty of pokes. s.HP, c.HP, s.MK, c.MK and such (though mainly s.MK as that’s the best range and bang for your buck). He’s basically a walking A3 prox button character, but I can see why that wouldn’t be for everyone. If you were to get over that mental barrier then Akuma has everything you want.
Long pokey just to poke buttons you have to go to Karin, Kolin, Chun, Cammy at least for characters that aren’t tall/big/zoner type.
