His neutral is good because he has one of the most spazzy buttons in the game. I think a lot of good players just know not to fuck with it.
Rog is SF5 wrapped up in a package.

I was watching Snake Eyez yesterday and I think most of his opinions on V are kinda meh, but he made mention that if he were to ask for changes to shit like Bison df.hp and other moves that act as gap closing pressure starters, is to just give them all the priority of a light attack.
I wouldn’t mind priority of a mid/light on stuff like that. Would be nerf without ruining Bison’s data structure.
If you have perfect tiger shots I believe Boxer really doesn’t have any great anti fireball option vs perfectly spaced/timed shots. Especially early in the first round when meters are low. Just any predictable one and it’s problems.
The one thing Bonchan has gotten better at since Sagat’s launch is making use of his heavies in at least the ways than can be. He doesn’t have any OG dark age heavy buttons, but he’s finding ways to use them in matchups a lot better and even gets whiff punish on s.HP. Max range sweep isn’t terrible in the right matches either.
Good to see him put that together a lot better now. That was something Floe was complaining that SFV Sagat wasn’t able to do in the matchup when Sagat launched.
This is another one of my favorite Sagat vs Boxer matches
I think that’s a good idea, but honestly if they just made this shit whiff punishable you’d see it less.
If you watch Smug say, he goes Rashid on Rogs St.hk. Its 80% that button.
I’m not saying smug is a fraud, he’s fucking amazing, but he is just abusing the shit out of high reward low risk shit - but that’s this game.
It’s not like the data of the heavies themselves are insanely lower than prior games, I think it’s less to do with total frame count and more to do with general range present within the game. If Rog whiffs st.hk at range 2, looking to tag an extended hurtbox, the chances are you have nothing in your normal kit that will reach it in time before the hurtbox pulls back.
Same thing when it comes to tools like Rashid cr.hp/st.hp. He can whiff it, tagging your hurtbox extension off of buffer jabs/mid, but you can’t whiff punish it cause you’re mad stubby.
In SFIV at the same ranges, Ryu would probably get a guaranteed sweep.
Or a cr.mk xx fireball.
Games neutral blows, there’s no bones about it.
…but , people obviously like this style of game, so I can’t be the voice of what makes a good SF. Everyone is different.
Also the difference with the sweep is at max range you don’t get punished.
Ves recently showed me the frame data behind CvS2 and I was pretty blown the fuck away lmao. Idk why they toned down the data on everything so hard, priority kinda blows because it creates linear paths for block routing too and your footsie options end up being boiled down to - if it’s a fierce, I can’t safely try to counter poke. I think priority is why shit like -2 is so prevalent in the data as well, it’s the perfect minus value for every character in the game to press a mid after the attacking player commits to it, without losing to their jab.
I’ll be happy if I never see a +2 value in my life again. I’d like some bulk back, some range, some spacing elements to normal safeness.
Not every plus 2 is created equal that’s another problem.
If the games about plus 2 , everyone should be point blank on block.
Yeah give me a point blank EX.Zonk on block, cheers in advance.
That’s every fighting game actually. You may have a few more options vs the high reward/low risk shit depending on character or game, but that’s going to win every tournament of every fighting game.
If you’re playing low reward/low risk probably not going to get 1st. Low reward/high risk not going to get 1st. High reward/high risk maybe if the character is gimmicky enough on a good day. Realistically just knock off some unsuspecting players, but not winning.
You play Marvel and Ibuki. Your whole brain make up is completely different to mine in every way.
One set of folk like tactics, one set of folk like cheap shit. Those two people rarely meet.
Not really. I can play zoner characters basically as well or better than you can. That’s why my Falke can be at Master. I know shoto/zone mindset also. It’s just by being Marvel/Ibuki player I can also not give up in those situations. Gives you more to work with than being afraid of the high reward/low risk.
online rank dropping yikes
Please with the falke. You picked falke because 90% of the spastics can’t beat simple zoning.
It’s like menat players thinking they are good at keep away.
I played Sagat for a while in IV, Got top 8 at the first KI major with the Sagat/Sim of the game basically and did pretty good with Fulgore who’s basically robo shoto also.
In a good game ya mean!
This game had potential, but we are quite literally playing S1 with more characters.
They really needed a shake up. Everything they did to this game was a negative to make it better -
Take out throw loops
Make dp worse
Make command grab worse
Make overheads worse
Make V reversal worse
We need powa , not less tools God damn it.
I mean…do you want throw loops back? Mika getting dash oki on V-Reversal? Have fun with that.
Yeah that stuff is better in a context, but some of the stuff I’m sure he would complain about even. Plus it was all stuff the twitterverse complained about.
Long as Tokido still gets thrown multiple times with full resources, throw loops not coming back.
Best way to play games with better stuff is to play other games. When you playing SFV you have to get good at what’s there.
I can’t ever think of a good context for a character getting a 50/50 because she blocked a mid but sure. S1 sucked ass, worst season of V. Invincible DPs were a terrible idea given Vs ruleset.
Just bring back S1 Necalli with DP/Throw mix ups.
