Yeah he definitely has to jump. He can’t play 100 percent honest vs a character that beats him on the ground clean (both buttons and fireball).
It’s just the really really gutsy air approach will eventually have to slow down as Birdie will eventually be able to take advantage of that. He’ll have to pepper in the air game a lot more lightly once Fuudo gets hip.
I have played about 70 hours of Dota 2 (almost nothing in the context of that game, but still) and I’ve never, ever, played a game where nobody has loudly complained/flamed about at least one of their teammates when their team loses.
It’s kind of the nature of games where you can play well, but still lose if someone else screws up. It’s made worse by the lack of a concede function, I’ve had games where we lost 15 minutes in but the game lasted almost an hour because the other team just didn’t go for the win.
I feel what Fuudo lost to was more similar to what Punk lost to. They both had really janky dropped combos/AA situations. Tokido was much cleaner and rarely had anything drop.
Like the last round of the tournament, if Punk got one situation that I remember not working to work, that probably would have been it.
Yup, I think the SF4 mentality of not leaving the ground defensively it’s still there in most of us who played that game a lot, but SFV isn’t like that. Fuudo didn’t forced Tokido to stay grounded where Birdie has a clear advantage, that was his fault. Birdie can easily clip every regular jump in, but Akuma has too many ways to play around his AAs.
Focusing on SGS let you open for all the rest of Akuma BS, it’s easier to spot them from a viewer side. I don’t blame Punk for getting two of 'em, you can predict every full meter Akuma options tbh.
I get it, no problem, I would have eaten them too. Whoever said they were that easy to spot probably would’ve eaten everything else. We aren’t there playing GF vs the best Akuma ever, Punk did his best at avoiding all the rest.
Honestly I was thinking on SGS every time Tokido had full meter with VT popped out, I think Punk was too busy at avoiding all the rest, the set was to tense to focus on everything.
