The demon flips look rough as fuck for Karin though.
Christ, even Fuudo with Birdies top tier AAs had to guess each time.

She was an annoying diversion before. She was outrageous this time.
The fact she got cunty to other people via twitter for celebrating after a win vs CoolKid pushed it over…
Can’t be loud, annoying and a hypocrite.
Jumpin mixups need to fucking go. An absolute fucking joke. Sf3-sf4 and now sf5 all have characters with that shit owning.
Funnily enough a cr.mk confirm character and a jump mixup character are the ones with the most overall success in the game… shades of 3s yun and chun? I think so, tbh.
I saw the discussion about Falke’s EX DP in the corner…
When you are fighting against Dictator as Akuma and he does back throw into df.FP, Akuma’s EX DP will hit once and the Dictator will drop from it, causing you to eat a CC punish.
If you do the VT SRK, this obviously does not happen.
Do you think that this is a bug and if not, do things like these add any depth to the game?
First time I’ve seen Tokido legit abuse the air approach like that.
The demon flip dive kicks destroyed Fuudo. The hangtime caused the cr.mp to whiff every time.
It was bound to happen one day. A legion of australian noobs cant be THAT off the mark. Ive been dealing with this shit since about 3 months after akuma was released.
What i find funny is that tokido legit tends to look like he doesnt even know how to do the air fireball/ normal jumpin mixup, but atleast he knew how to do the demonflip palm/demonflip k mixup.
I have only really played online so figured that shit was more effective online than off.
Seeing it work so well back to back in both winners and grand finals was enlightening.
It does add depth but not fun depth.
If someone autopilots that sequence and i have a bar and call them out for it i should be rewarded.
I’ve been told on this forum that it’s just me being bad for not being able to handle Akuma’s air mixups with Chun-Li.
Not saying I’m not bad but seeing Fuudo look as hopeless as me sort of put things a bit in perspective. And it’s not like Tokido was doing pro-player stuff there, he was just randomly alternating between the fifty demon flip follow-ups Akuma has so that’s technically something you’ll be able to see online as well.
If my character was up against a character than will insta-kill me if they get a grab on me, and my character is near-impossible to approach, I’d probably play the same way.
Usually Melee players complain whenever there are less than five multi-shines per second, so I tend to just write that shit off as kids that need to get their ritalin. Seeing the two most hated things in Melee combine into something as stupid as that clip is pretty hilarious.
Fuudo started using Birdie recently. I am wondering if the same approach would work against Mena.
And Fuudo was losing to DF mixups, which means that there is no air fireball option.
It is the same thing bad Akumas (like myself) that use b.FP for AA loose to. Akuma has option against it, I am pretty sure that Birdie does too (bullhorn, chain or air to air jumps).
Zonk would seem to be the best idea surely. It would beat the delay on the divekick for sure.
Chain has to be used really preemptively but if he at least presented it as a deterrent maybe it would have helped.
I wonder why he didn’t go for air-to-air moves. With Chun that always seemed to be my best option but I don’t know how good Birdie’s air moves are.
I’m pretty sure there are enough characters with solid options against DF that it’s not a big negative for the meta overall.
Honestly I have a tougher time AAing Rashid than I have for DF. At least with DF you can see that the mix up is coming.
At the ranges that Tokido is using the demon flip dive kick Birdie’s zonk would not work. It would whiff and he’d get punished for it. The best answer is to go for air to airs or predict that it’s coming and delay doing cr. MP or that heavy punch(can’t remember the input for it). That’s hard for Birdie’s to do because they’re so use to using cr. MP to AA everything.
Me personally in the Birdie match up I actually spam the regular jump dive kick instead of the demon flip one. It’s even easier to avoid Birdie’s cr. MP with his jump dive kick. And even if it doesn’t combo I’m still in Birdie’s face with frame advantage on hit.
Some of my matches against Birdie look pretty damn stupid as I’m spamming jump dive kick and it keeps working. It’s so ingrained in Birdie players to use cr. MP that they can’t help it.
Just for the record, Air Throws shit on demon flip on reaction for the most part
I mean if you’re playing any game where the opponent’s character literally can’t approach you why would you play any different. Didn’t you have issues with Grodd in I2 like this?
(Doesn’t excuse the Smash community’s hilarious response tho)
Cr.hp would be a good shout actually. Im guessing thats the button you mentioned.
Huge damage as well if you cancel into bullhead.
I’m guessing I’ll be getting lots of practice online over the next few days trying to figure it out.
Not everyone has a airthrow, this isn’t a universal tool in this game and only dedicated Character get it.
I love seeing Nu doing the honest work of sending 200 Swords in your direction.
Honda probably ain’t coming till next year. Take some James Chen salt for your wounds.
