Imagine Capcom announcing “We had one character reveal in S4 left yet and were planning to announce it at November”… I think that is a more bad idea.
Same a an announcement that they won’t be adding new characters.

Where is the “i went to sleep” option ?
Lol you’re gonna not play a game because they never revealed anything?
I mean I just play games because they’re fun but I mean…if this impacts people so hard they’re gonna quit you probably don’t like the game to begin with.
i gotcha!
The biggest problem is the serious lack of communication we are getting from them.
They said they would do things different this year, said we would get news “soon” and never came back to it.
And that is causing some serious frustration among the player base.
I think what they need to make an announcement about is when they would continually support SFV…
If they planned to extend it beyond 2020.
PS5 is next year and with no word on upcoming Capcom titles and them just pushing their newest titles out with record sales, they must have work under the hood that isn’t ready to be shown.
The dev cycle at Capcom right now is probably
Monster Hunter
RE3 Remake
SFVI or maybe a new Dragons Dogma, cause that has been teased IIRC.
A slow content release probably means the next thing is coming or starting to get underway - and it’s very possibly an inhouse effort. SFV is in a good character balance state, so idk why everyone is clawing for more content.
I think the most plausible thing is to release SFV with all it’s characters for the new gen of consoles so it keeps the playerbase active and interest in the game while also keeping the scene alive.
But also working on the new SF title to be released around 1 year after SF5 launch on the new consoles. They kinda pushing this esport scene a lot so it would be weird for them to just drop the ball after investing so much.
They’re building a pretty healthy esport scene that focuses on the grass roots startup empowering TOs and community figures so yeah CPT means momentum can’t really halt without a major fuck up.
But I think 6 is already in conceptual phases. PS5 release title isn’t far fetched to think.
Probably because there are characters that were never high tier or top tier while there are also characters that remained top tier since the game’s launch.
I think it’s safe to accept the fact that there will be always top tiers and bottom tiers, but if it’s mostly the same cast for 4 years+, then we have issues.
That’s why most probably want the patch imo.
Yeah, the radio silence is the most annoying part. The least they can do is engage with their playerbase more. Capcom is just very tone deaf at times.
The game state isn’t going to change so we aren’t seeing Cammy ever leave top 5, unless they do literally everything in their power to remove her from the game.
They can do all they can to people like Chun but they don’t fit the established meta without drastic changes.
A balance patch can only do so much. There’s a reason the top tiers haven’t shaken much.
I think the games only a bit more balanced in online fan land. At high level, I wouldn’t say it’s unbalanced, but your target pool is still about a third of the roster at best. 10 characters tops.
It only seems balanced because of fucked up mechanics.
Highest level is still one of the most varied pools in an SF game for sure.
Pools as in the pool stage? Or pool of characters.
Pool of characters.
You right, things have definitely worked out for Chun, Ryu and Nash.
Mmm, I dunno, it seems to me there are more good players which in turn leads to more characters, but really you can put a blanket over -
Birdie, Cammy , Karin, Akuma, Rashid , Ibuki , Bison, Kolin, Zeku and maybe one outlier
You see some depth at the top 64 level, but you’re not going to see many Blanka, Cody or G players and people would consider those characters “strong”
Rashid,Ibuki,Guile, yes the first season counts.
None of those characters were top tier in season 1.
Hell Rashid was easier to fight because you could DP him in the FACE.
Get FACED.
