Yeah, I also love the sounds he makes when he’s doing his raging demon.

When you don’t have to be athletic it stops being a sport. It’s just a regular competition or game.

Dart throwers and golfers are not anywhere near the same league as even probably any actual athlete. Hell compare them to any boxer.

I do here and there, but the lack of practice throws off my execution in that game, at least with Makoto. I’m focused on SFV, at least I can play this game even offline against friends and at tournaments.

Not sure what the need is to call any competitive activity a sport. Weird thing it is.

Its all about validation. One group wants to feel validation from another to feel acceptance. Or a group wants to deny that validation to others so they can feel superior.

I think once a person realizes it doesn’t really matter who approves of their personal choices, the pursuit of that validation is made irrelevant

Its like how Pertho doesn’t want to call smash a fighting game. Ironic

It’s not even about superiority I’m not exactly an athlete myself and i don’t really watch sports. But as someone who loves watching the Olympics I feel like it greatly diminishes the accomplishments of those athletes to group them with dart throwers.

Golf is in the Olympics

Archery too, not exactly dart throwing but nonetheless

Goteeem

Yeah so is archery and I think ping pong. Doesn’t make them sports.

Oops ninja’d

Think this is part of the reason why FGC people have a much easier time with Sekiro.

Correction: its been Smashers wanting their game called a fighting game all these years and basically demanding they’d be at FGC events for a long time.

At least get things right.

Things getting into the olympics is a weird political situation. The Olympics removed wrestling from its events but kept dresage.

SoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo…the tricky dicky thing is what to make of games where the opponent cant stop you from winning.

Golf, darts, bowling all have that in common. People take turns doing things and the best score wins. But so do a lot of other olympic events. Long jump, weight lifting, javelin throw, technically sprints, runs and marathons also share the same thing.

Not Curling though. Curling is the GAWD sport.

I disagree on the running sports. Those have multiple groups competing at the same time continously towards the goal. The other things you listed are one person doing a thing one at a time.

Like to me (and i admit im ass pulling here) the difference is how many groups are doing a thing at once.

But at the same time i wouldn’t say that javelin throwers and weight lifters aren’t athletes, so I guess I’m defeated here. That said, i still stand by my position that golf isn’t a sport and golfers aren’t athletes.

Out of all the olympic events equestrian is the one I don’t agree with being featured in the olympics.

You need a decent amount of strength for archery. Just throwing that out there.

A top golfer needs to have power and technique off the tee and finesse for chipping and putting around the greens. Pretty sure that’s like the definition of an all around athlete. Also this isn’t the 90’s anymore where the sport is dominated by guys with beer guts. Watch a tournament these days and the guys finishing top 10 are usually big dudes that look like they can bench 250+ pounds.

Ive never understood the need for people to say non physical competitions, arent sports.

To me a sport is any competitive activity where you compete against other individuals that also train and practice that activity. It could be tossing rocks at a wall 2 feet away… i wouldnt care.

Making sport of it
Hey be a good sport
Dont be a poor sport

Etc, all alludes to the competitive aspect of a thing being the signifier of it being a sport or not. But meh i guess.

Shooting is an Olympic sport.
You don’t need to have a killer body to shoot the guns they use for it.
