Here’s the thing. When everyone keeps saying “I don’t care about Single Player content, as long as the competitive content is easily accessible” developers are going to continue to push that as far as they can to its logical extreme.
It’s no different than a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Developers will give you things you want, but in return will push their agenda even harder in other areas.
Real talk I’ve never seen the appeal of golf. Mini golf is cool with all the neat props and obstacles. But regular golf with just…grass? Lame af

I always do the Evil Ryu axe kick loops to whenever I go back. I’ve never done it in a match because my execution isn’t good enough to waste meter like that. But it’s still pretty fun to do just to test myself.
EDIT: Well actually I’ve done 1 loop several times before. But I’ve never successfully blown 4 meters to do 2 loops. This stuff was hard, but so satisfying when you actually pull it off.

Golf is a competition. Yes there is a physical aspect, but you could say that about almost anything. It’s simply not in the same realm as something more traditional like say basketball.
Funny enough I’d say it’s more closely related to competitive gaming like Street Fighter than real sports.
Warner as a game publisher is low-key the worst offender in that regard. EA gets all the flack these days but Warner is the same or arguably even worse. It started off with single-use download keys for content like Catwoman in Arkham City and it got worse and worse with each game, from huge amounts of DLC across the board in every game they publish and microtransactions left and right (the LotR game that made headlines a few years ago was from them as well).
I think the last game I bought from them was Arkham Knight in its GOTY edition for 15 bucks. Which still didn’t have all the content on the disc but a truckload of download keys in the box. They can screw themselves for all I care.

Idk. The good golfers are starting to be guys that are in shape. Its more physical than a lot of stuff. If 2 guys are the same skill and one is decidedly stronger, the stronger guy has an advantage.
But whatever. Sport or not is just a label. Not bothered if people think it is or isnt. They cover it on ESPN. The winners make millions. It’s relevant either way.
Darts and snooker are sports they don’t have to be exerting to be considered a sport.
