I never understood why people complained so much about the draw system. It was an attempt to diversify grinding by splitting it up between the traditional xp farming and the magic drawing. Leveling up to 99 and junctioning every stat with full magic took less time than just leveling up in other FF games.

FF8 lets you level to 100 so you can get bodied by Level 5 death.
Silliest thing about that game.
Also all the drawing is a boring ass grind. This coming from a person who literally mastered all materia in FF7 (which means I sat in the final dungeon chucking elixirs at the one monster that gave you massive AP with the triple AP weapons equipped).

Enemies level up with you, so it’s impossible to encounter a level 5 death spell when you’re level 100.
I assumed that I had fond memories of the game mainly because it had such a huge impact on me as a kid. Probably because most of the stuff I read online was negative. Once I went back to play the game after not touching it for over ten yrs, I found myself enjoying it even more than I originally did. That’s when I realized how much I love the game.
I need to have another playthrough soon.
A lot of people hated the idea of the enemies getting stronger throughout the game, but I never took issue with it.
